"What's your name? Hi, my name is Jane Sterling. I'm the new caregiver here."
Jane Sterling watched the girl walking silently ahead of her and took the initiative to offer a polite greeting.
She didn't expect that the girl, Leo, wouldn't even turn around after hearing her. She merely gave a slight nod and whispered a reply.
"Hi. You can call me Leo."
With that, she walked on ahead, paying no mind to Jane behind her.
The friendly hand she had extended paused mid-air. Jane awkwardly pulled it back and brushed at the stray hairs on her forehead.
Jane silently memorized the layout of the grounds. The orphanage had seemed small from the outside, but once she stepped in, she found it was surprisingly spacious.
The school building alone was several stories tall and had numerous classrooms. It was a fairly large-scale operation.
The two walked the rest of the way in silence until they reached a dormitory building.
