The man's gaze was so calm it bordered on cold. "They all volunteered to participate in the testing."
The female Beta seemed enraged by his words, the veins on her forehead popping. "Then you could have waited until the technology was mature before letting them try! They're so young. A medical bay can't save them from cerebral death, and this serum only has a one-percent chance of working."
She trembled with agitation, her fury reaching its peak.
Her breathing was ragged; she had to forcefully suppress her rage to keep it in check.
But the man standing before her remained expressionless. "If things were as you say, I wouldn't exist."
The female Beta looked up at the man, who was clearly much taller than her, and gritted her teeth. "You're the one success story out of a hundred. You're paying for this with human lives! Do other people's lives not matter?"
She took a deep breath and turned away, knowing that arguing any further with the man before her would be pointless.
