Faye Vaughn was only in the restroom for a few minutes before she came out.
Liam Linden had already finished moving their things. He glanced back at her and said casually, "You went to contact someone?"
Faye Vaughn paused, momentarily startled. 'He's so smart.'
Liam Linden's eyes were calm, and a faint smile even touched his lips. He didn't press her about who she had contacted, nor did he suspect she had notified the Hawthorne Family.
He opened the passenger-side door. "Get in. Where are we going now?"
Faye Vaughn got into the car and couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you afraid I'll sell you out?"
Liam Linden raised a hand, as if to pat her head, but ultimately pulled it back.
"You wouldn't," he said simply, then walked around the car to lock the farmhouse door before getting back in.
Before starting the car, he glanced back at the humble, simple house.
The short time he had spent here was the most peaceful and happy period he had ever treasured.
