On the other end of the phone, Vincent Hawthorne's voice was low and sullen. "I'm at the restaurant entrance. Come over."
Faye Vaughn hummed in agreement. "You don't sound very happy," she said as she walked. "Is it possible something's developing between your older brother and Audrey Kensington?"
Vincent Hawthorne's usually warm voice was icy. "That depends on whether your appearance can put an end to that possibility."
By now, Faye Vaughn had reached the restaurant's first floor.
She had changed back into her everyday clothes. Her face was bare, and since she had just taken off a wig, she had simply tied her hair up in a messy bun.
She looked young and innocent, like a refreshing spring.
Even though Vincent Hawthorne disliked her, he was still struck by her beauty the first time he saw her like this.
"Vincent."
Faye Vaughn trotted over and asked in a low voice, "What's the situation?"
She hid behind Vincent Hawthorne and peeked into the restaurant.
