Wyatt Hawthorne's dark eyes narrowed. "Say that again."
But Faye Vaughn ignored him, turning to Vincent Hawthorne with a radiant smile. "Vincent, would you like to get to know me better?"
Vincent Hawthorne chuckled, a faint smile on his lips. "What a silly question. Aren't we already familiar enough to be on a date?"
Faye Vaughn played along. "You're right. So, after dinner, shall we move on to the next stop?"
Vincent Hawthorne seamlessly picked up the thread, suggesting, "If you're interested, I could take you for a drink."
Faye Vaughn replied crisply, "Perfect. I want to get drunk tonight."
The two of them bantered back and forth right in front of Wyatt Hawthorne, treating him as if he were thin air.
Wyatt Hawthorne saw through their act completely.
'Such a childish trick.'
'And yet, he couldn't bear to watch another second of it.'
