Wyatt Hawthorne took Faye Vaughn onto the helicopter.
He didn't rush to ask her what had happened. First, he took her to Hawthorne Hospital for a physical examination.
"The marks on my body... you're the one who left them." Faye Vaughn's eyes were still red as she bit her lip, feeling wronged. "If you dare to misunderstand and think I was... with someone else... then this isn't over between us!"
She grabbed his hand and wouldn't let go.
Wyatt Hawthorne let out an exasperated laugh. "What kind of nonsense is going through that head of yours?"
He knew perfectly well what marks he had left on her.
'What is she so afraid of?'
Faye Vaughn's fingers intertwined with his, and she looked at him pitifully. "I saw a news story once. An innocent woman was abducted and sold to a remote village. After she was rescued, her husband didn't want her anymore and divorced her. No matter how much she tried to explain she was untouched, her husband wouldn't believe her."
