Chapter 49
Tori's POV
He pulled me into a quiet place. It looked like a garden, but there was no sign of life there. The flowers were dry, the fountain at the center had stopped running long ago, and the cold evening breeze brushed against my skin softly.
"Let go of my wrist. It hurts." I yanked my hand away immediately after he finally stopped walking.
"Why are you overreacting? I was just teasing you," I lashed out, rubbing my wrist gently.
"You call this overreacting?" His brows furrowed deeply while he stared at me. "I don't want you making jokes like that with me."
"Or else? What are you going to do?" I rolled my eyes. "Are you that old that you can't understand when someone is joking?"
He was just a few years older than me. Nicole told me their age.
He stepped closer slowly, and this time I couldn't move backwards.
The little plants behind me pressed against my legs already, and one more step would send me falling straight into them.
