Kael's POV
The garden was unusually quiet that evening, except for the repeated sound of arrows cutting through the air before striking against wood.
Thunk.Thunk.Thunk.
Nicole lowered his bow with a grin stretched proudly across his face after another arrow landed perfectly at the center of the target.
"See? My archery got better than yours." He smirked while turning towards Riven. "You should start accepting defeat already. I did mine without using any of my powers by the way."
Riven scoffed from where he stood a few feet away, another arrow already positioned between his fingers. "You hitting a target in a peaceful garden does not suddenly make you impressive."
Nicole gasped dramatically. "Do I sense jealousy?"
"I sense annoyance."
I remained seated beneath the stone archway while watching the both of them exchange words like children. Usually, I would have ignored them completely, but my mind was too restless for silence.
