Chapter 91 – The Sovereigns of the Deep
The Agila's descent was not a landing; it was a territorial claim. As the massive silver-and-gold struts locked onto the sacred white stone of the harbor, the localized gravity was so intense that the nearby palm trees snapped like toothpicks. The Seven Sacred Pillar Guardians, men who stood as the pinnacle of power for the island, found themselves gasping for air. The blue divine light they had fired was gone, swallowed by the ship's hull, leaving them spiritually hollow.
The main ramp hissed open, venting a cloud of iridescent steam.
Bibi Dong stepped out first. The Abyssal Aegis armor didn't just look heavy; it felt heavy and powerful. And she also didnt step on a ground or any path at all, but on air...no, on Space itself. Every step she took on the Space sent a visible ripple through the air. As if the space itself is shaking just from her power. Behind her, the Demonic Whale King in his basalt-warrior form loomed like a thundercloud, his single violet eye scanning the harbor with a predatory hunger.
Following them were Shui Bing'er and Zhu Zhuqing. Bing'er's Twelve-Winged Phoenix aura turned the humid tropical air into a localized blizzard, while Zhuqing moved like a glitch in reality—her form flickering in and out of the shadows cast by the Agila.
Finally, Lakan emerged. He didn't wear armor. He wore a simple, dark-blue robe trimmed with gold, his chest partially exposed to show the glowing ᜊ (Ba) mark. His Eyes of the Origin God were calm, a terrifying contrast to the raw divine power radiating from the woman at his side.
At the base of the ramp, the Shrek group stood paralyzed. Tang San, clutching his trident-shaped Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, felt his Purple Demon Eye throbbing with pain just trying to look at Bibi Dong. Beside him, Ma Hongjun was practically shaking, his face pale.
Bai Chenxiang, the speed-attribute master of the Min Sect, stood slightly behind Hongjun. She had always been proud of her swiftness, her ability to outrun the wind. But as she looked at Shui Bing'er, she felt as though her wings had been dipped in lead. The Ice-Heavy Water attribute Bing'er now possessed didn't just freeze the body; it froze the intent to move.
"You..." Tang San managed to rasp out, his gaze flickering between Lakan and the Goddess beside him. "The Martial Soul Hall... you dare invade the Sea God's sanctuary?"
Bibi Dong didn't even look at him. To a Goddess of the Abyssal Void, a Rank 60-something Spirit Emperor was less than a speck of dust. She looked past them, toward the woman approaching from the Sea God Temple.
Bo Saixi stopped ten meters away. Her blue scepter hummed with a defensive resonance. She looked at Bibi Dong, and for the first time in centuries, the High Priestess felt a cold sweat on her brow.
"A God," Bo Saixi whispered. "You have achieved the forbidden. But your aura... it is not the Rakshasa of the records. It is something deeper. Something... different."
"The records are obsolete, High Priestess," Lakan spoke, his voice carrying the Seven-Tone melody that made the Sacred Pillars vibrate. "And we didn't invade. We are guests. High-tier guests."
Lakan turned slightly toward Bibi Dong, ignoring the Shrek group as if they were scenery. "Look at them, Dong'er. This is the hope of the Sea God and Asura. A group of children playing with toys they don't understand."
Bibi Dong's hand rested on the hilt of her scythe, her Purple Thunder mantle crackling. "They are fragile, Lakan. I could erase their existence with a single heartbeat of the Whale King's pulse. Why do we stay our hand?"
"Because of the Final Convergence," Lakan replied, his voice dropping to a level that only those on the ramp could hear. "You are the Empress of the Abyssal Void. To hit Rank 150—to become a God-King—you need more than just power. You need to Anchor your law. This island is the perfect laboratory. The Sea God's faith-energy is a stable medium. By staying here, your Sub-Dantian can observe and mimic the stability of Poseidon's domain, allowing us to bridge your Law of Slaughter with the Law of the Deep much faster."
Bibi Dong nodded, her eyes flashing with a calculated ambition. "The naughty secret sessions will be much more effective here, then. The ocean's energy will act as a lubricant for our Chaos-Resonance."
Suddenly, Tianmeng zipped out of Bing'er's collar, flying straight toward the basalt warrior Whale King.
"Hey! Big Guy!" Tianmeng squeaked, poking the Whale King's massive bicep. "Don't just stand there looking like a statue! Look at that bird-girl over there!" He pointed at Bai Chenxiang. "She looks like she's about to faint! Bing'er, you should give her a little Snowflake Kiss just to show her what real flight looks like! And Lakan! Are we finding Bing Bing soon? This island is too wet! I want my ice-waifu!"
The Whale King rumbled, a sound like shifting tectonic plates. "The worm... is persistent."
"I'm an expert in love!" Tianmeng huffed, turning to the Shrek group. "And you lot! Look at your Hero. He's shaking! My Bing'er could turn him into a popsicle before he could say Hidden Weapon!"
Lakan stepped forward, meeting Bo Saixi's gaze. He knew he couldn't provoke Asura or Poseidon directly yet—he wasn't a God, and even as a God-King candidate, Bibi Dong was still stabilizing. A full-scale war with the Divine Realm now would be premature.
"High Priestess," Lakan said, his tone shifting to one of diplomatic iron. "We are here for an Oversight. The Sea God is conducting his trials, yes? Well, the Spirit Empire is the dominant power of the continent. By the laws of the mortal realm, any Divine Inheritance occurring within our sphere of influence must be overseen by the Sovereign's office."
Bo Saixi narrowed her eyes. "The Sea God's trials are sacred. No mortal—"
"I am not just a mortal, and she is a God," Lakan interrupted, gesturing to Bibi Dong. "We aren't here to stop the trials. We are here to ensure they are rigorous. If Tang San is to be the next Sea God, surely he shouldn't mind the Sovereign and his Queens watching his every move? We will stay on the Agila, parked in your harbor. Consider us... Guest Proctors."
Bo Saixi looked at the Agila, then at the Goddess who could sink her island with a thought, and finally at Lakan's silver eyes. She knew she had no choice. Poseidon was silent, and Asura was watching from afar—neither had commanded her to die in a futile battle.
"Very well," Bo Saixi said, her voice tight. "You may stay. But do not interfere with the tests."
Lakan smirked, turning back to his girls. "Interfere? No. We're just going to make sure he earns every bit of that blue light."
He didn't plan to stop Tang San being a God. No. He isn't that petty or cowardly. Only cowards will fight their opponent weak. He plan to fight Tang San when he fully realized his....."Potential". Or his power being handed to him. No matter how unworthy Tang San is for it.
He will just make sure that Tang San earn that power while he is here, while he used the faith power of this Island to hasten the fusion of the two Laws in Baby Dong.
But he won't let Tang San obtained that power too easily just because the Gods decided to hand it to him on plate just like that. NO. Especially when his Dong'er has to suffer pain and torment so that she can even be atleast bit worthy of the power she will inherit. If Tang San is really a man, then Lakan WILL make him earn that power, like a true man would.
He looked at Zhu Zhuqing, who was staring at the Shrek group with a look of absolute, icy indifference. She didn't see them as friends unlike in the original series. She saw a past she had successfully hunted and killed. "Zhuqing, Bing'er... let's go back inside. We have a Convergence to work on. And Tianmeng... stop trying to sell dating advice to the Whale King."
As the group retreated into the Agila, the ramp closed, leaving the Sea God Island in a state of terrified silence. The Great Change had officially begun.
