In the sky, as the clone used "Heat Vision" to cut through the vibranium armor on Homelander, it also cut the Statue of Liberty to pieces.
Fragments fell like rain, raising clouds of dust and making the people aboard the Daily Bugle's helicopter cry out repeatedly.
At this moment, Starro and the other vibranium suits finally flew over. As soon as they approached, they launched an attack on Homelander and the clone.
Starro stubbornly fired the "Transformation Ray" at Homelander and the clone. Although this ray would not cause damage, once a target was hit, it would transform them into a kind of "mechanical life-form" similar to a Transformer.
Homelander was still quite wary of this ability, which had been enhanced by the "Allspark." He did not know whether his "biological force field" could block this kind of line-of-sight attack.
He now deeply missed the "Absolute Domain." If this awakened talent were still there, he would not need to dodge at all. He could simply keep the "Transformation Ray" outside his domain.
Besides Starro, the other vibranium suits also joined the attack. Their methods of attack varied widely, including beams and various missiles.
Some of the suits could even transform into turrets, continuously firing attacks at Homelander and the clone.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Explosions continued in the sky.
Fireballs constantly appeared around Homelander and the clone. Various beams and missiles flew back and forth, while vibranium suits crossed through the sky.
Whoosh!
A vibranium suit flew past Homelander. He reached out and grabbed its leg, then smashed it into another suit.
After sending the other suit flying, Homelander continued to withstand the bullets and beams striking the armor in his hand. Smiling, he tore it apart with force.
Armor made from the hardest metal on Marvel Earth was directly ripped open by Homelander. Parts fell continuously from the torn suit, with sparks flashing nonstop.
Homelander casually threw the broken suit down. His eyes then lit up with pure golden light, and two golden rays shot from his pupils.
The two rays extended several kilometers away. Everything in their path was pierced, including the vibranium suits.
Homelander did not stop attacking. He maintained his "Heat Vision" while rotating his body. The two golden rays thus drew a perfect circle through the air.
The clone did the same.
And so, beneath the night sky, two enormous discs appeared, each with a radius measured in kilometers.
On the two golden discs, vibranium suits were instantly cut apart. Cracks spread across their bodies before they slowly broke apart.
Then blazing, high-temperature flames erupted from the broken suits.
Fragments of vibranium armor rolled through the flames and flew in every direction. From the ground, it looked as though a fireworks display was taking place in the sky, or a meteor shower was descending.
Marvel's vibranium was indeed an excellent metal.
It was extremely hard, resistant to high temperatures, and resistant to impacts.
But it was not indestructible.
At least, under the extremely high temperatures of Homelander and the clone's "Heat Vision," what needed to be cut was still cut, and what needed to melt still melted.
Thus, when the two golden discs became storms of flame, the fragments of vibranium armor within the two storms twisted and changed shape. They went from hard to soft, as if they could be kneaded at will.
After leaving the storms, they began to cool. By the time they fell to the ground, they had become irregular chunks of vibranium whose original forms could no longer be recognized.
Starro watched the two storms of flame from a distance.
The readings for the energy and temperature of those two storms in his eyes had already formed a long string of numbers.
Even though, as a mechanical life-form, he rarely experienced human emotions anymore, he could not help sighing at this moment.
"It's really powerful."
"No wonder it was weakened by 50%."
"But even so, if we're talking purely about destructive power, he's still above me."
"Fortunately, this confrontation isn't an 'Iron Cage Deathmatch.' Otherwise, I wouldn't have had a chance at all."
The storms of flame disappeared.
Around the Statue of Liberty, clouds of steam desperately rose from the water. The water level had visibly dropped, and the surface roared with waves, displaying the lingering power of the combined attack Homelander and the clone had just unleashed.
This scene, which looked like the end of the world, left the people watching the screens speechless.
People were deeply shaken and could not say a word.
Even Daily Bugle reporter J. Jonah Jameson temporarily forgot to use his silver tongue to stir things up.
People did not dare imagine.
If those two storms of flame had appeared over New York City rather than in the sky, what would the consequences have been?
Clearly, the consequences would have been disastrous.
Millions of lives across New York might have disappeared.
This scene also deeply shocked both sides fighting near the Statue of Liberty, to the point that most of them stopped fighting.
"I thought that after gaining new electrical power, I would become a god ruling over this world."
Max looked up at Homelander and the clone high in the sky.
"But now it seems I was too shallow."
"There are actually monsters like this in this world."
The Amazing Spider-Man shook his head.
"I'm starting to miss the days when I had to outsmart thieves or bank robbers. Compared with those two up there, thieves and bank robbers are practically harmless, cute cats and dogs."
"This world is too dangerous."
Connors, who had returned to normal and had been brought to the ground by the Amazing Spider-Man during the disaster, wore a piece of clothing he had apparently found somewhere. He hunched his shoulders and looked at the sky.
"This isn't a world we should be visiting."
The original Spider-Man nodded in agreement.
"I think so too."
But while they were marveling at the destructive power of Homelander and the clone, the young Spider-Man had not stopped.
He tackled Osborn and pinned him down, raining punches down on the hated face.
Osborn was continuously giving commands to the glider, causing the "skateboard" stuck to the building to shake violently as it tried to break free of the surrounding webs.
Meanwhile, in the sky, Homelander smiled at Starro.
"I've changed my mind."
"I'm really stupid."
"From the beginning, I fell into the trap of the confrontation mode."
"Some kind of battle between good and evil."
"There's no need to put effort into that at all."
"I only need to eliminate my competitors."
"Without competitors, I'll naturally win this invasion event."
"So now, if you don't intend to surrender, you'll have to say goodbye to this world."
This was, of course, the most direct, simplest, and most effective method.
But Homelander could not have done this from the beginning.
At that time, he did not know enough about Starro. In addition, the confrontation mode was not an "Iron Cage Bloodbath," so he had arranged things this way.
Now, saying this was partly an attack on Starro's mentality, making him feel defeated.
Second, he had roughly figured out that aside from the troublesome "Transformation Ray," Starro's other abilities were not enough to pose a threat.
So if Starro refused to surrender, he really was going to tear this "Homelander" apart.
Data continuously appeared in Starro's field of vision. He looked once more toward the "Destroyer" being entangled by cursed warriors on the distant highway, then finally looked toward Peter Parker and Osborn on the ground.
At this moment, Osborn had completely lost the ability to fight back and was being suppressed by Peter Parker.
However, his glider finally broke free of the webs and came screaming toward the young Spider-Man.
Just as it was about to hit him, the young Spider-Man suddenly jumped and spun in midair, grabbing the glider as it passed beneath him.
He landed back on Osborn, raised the glider high, and pointed its sharpest end toward Osborn.
Seeing this, Starro calculated his chances of winning.
Less than 5%.
He remained silent for a moment, then opened his "Inventory" and decided to take out the "Flag of Shame."
He decided to surrender.
There was no point in continuing.
Just as Homelander had said.
If he died, Homelander would automatically win the invasion event.
But he did not want to die.
For someone capable of traveling between different universes, as long as he did not die, he would have a chance to rise again.
On the ground, Peter Parker raised the glider and was about to bring it down.
The original Spider-Man hurried toward him.
Suddenly, two golden beams swept down from the sky in front of him.
The original Spider-Man remembered the power of these beams all too well and quickly stopped.
He saw Homelander looking at him from the sky, smiling.
"Don't interfere."
Osborn suddenly laughed loudly.
"Come on, Peter Parker. Let's end this."
"As you wish."
The young Spider-Man shouted and brought the glider down.
But at that moment, a voice rang out.
"Don't, Peter!"
It was MJ's voice!
It made the glider stop at Osborn's neck.
Homelander turned his head.
He saw MJ staggering toward them.
Her thigh had been bandaged. Even so, each step caused the injury to bleed again.
But despite that, MJ continued moving toward Peter Parker step by step.
"Stop, Peter."
"I don't want to see you kill someone."
"I know you're in pain because Aunt May died."
"But you should know better than I do that if Aunt May were still alive, she would never want to see you with blood on your hands."
"You don't have to do this, Peter."
"Because no matter how difficult the road ahead is, no matter how many difficulties we encounter, I'll stay with you."
"I'll face them with you."
"You're not alone, Peter!"
MJ's eyes reddened, tears rolling down her face as she choked out,
"Don't let yourself become alone, Peter."
"Let's go."
"Let's leave this place."
"Leave New York."
"We don't necessarily have to go to MIT. We still have more choices."
"Whether it's college, life, or what you're doing now, right?"
The hand holding the glider trembled.
Peter Parker was filled with hesitation.
Seeing this, the original Spider-Man encouraged him.
"She's right, Peter."
"There isn't only one choice in life."
"Put the glider down."
Peter Parker wavered, and the glider pointed at Osborn began to move.
Seeing this, Starro said softly, "Maybe I haven't lost yet."
"No."
Homelander raised his hand and smiled, "I'll be the one who wins. It can only be me."
Then he snapped his fingers.
Homelander detonated the "Seed of Desire."
The seed that had been planted deep within Peter Parker's mind from the beginning had absorbed enough "nourishment" after everything that had happened.
At this moment, the "Flower of Desire" in Peter Parker's mind suddenly burst open.
A fierce, deep, lava-hot fire of revenge.
It immediately spread through Peter Parker's mind, filling every corner.
In an instant, images of Aunt May being killed flashed through Peter Parker's mind.
He saw Aunt May lying helplessly on the ground.
The anger, hatred, and helplessness he had felt at the time surged back.
And became even deeper.
So deep that Peter Parker could not forget it.
"NOOO!"
The young Spider-Man raised the glider with force.
"He deserves to die!"
The glider came down.
It struck Osborn in the neck.
Osborn's eyes widened, and he continued smiling despite his condition. He raised a hand and held the young Spider-Man's face.
"You're free."
This scene simultaneously appeared on various screens, startling the viewers watching them.
On the street, a little girl suddenly began crying and said to her mother, "This isn't the Spider-Man I know. The Spider-Man I know doesn't kill people."
Her mother quickly hugged her and sighed softly.
Then a man nearby threw a bottle at the large screen above.
"Spider-Man, you murderer!"
"You've disappointed me so much. You've already won, so why did you have to kill him!"
"Even as a superhero, you don't have the right to judge other people!"
"This isn't our friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man anymore. This is a murderer, a murderer!"
All of New York was in an uproar.
Of course, Peter Parker could not hear the people's accusations.
After Osborn's hand fell helplessly to the ground, he stood up.
The world seemed to have lost all sound in his ears.
He saw MJ covering her mouth with her hand.
He saw the original Spider-Man running toward him before stopping and sighing.
He saw Doctor Octopus remove his glasses and close his eyes with a sorrowful expression.
Then he fired a web toward the Daily Bugle helicopter in the sky.
Peter Parker leaped into the air.
He left.
What he had come to do was already finished.
But just as the original Spider-Man had said, even after killing his enemy himself, he still could not find peace in his heart.
The fire of revenge was still burning.
He was still angry, and that anger had nowhere to go.
He thought, 'Maybe I was wrong from the very beginning.'
'Criminals should not be given the chance to be forgiven.'
'Aunt May was the clearest example.'
'If I let one criminal go, an innocent passerby could lie dead tomorrow.'
'So starting today, I have to change.'
'I must punish every criminal severely. I must completely eliminate evil. From this second onward, I won't let any criminal go!'
'They must taste pain and feel fear!'
'Only then will they stop making mistakes.'
'At the same time, I must warn those who might become criminals."
'Tell them that if they fall, I'll appear.'
'And I'll make them regret doing it!'
Peter Parker's figure rapidly disappeared into the distance, becoming a tiny black dot.
"Peter..."
MJ sat down on the ground, devastated and unwilling to believe this ending.
The original Spider-Man and the Amazing Spider-Man exchanged a glance. Both helplessly shook their heads. They had desperately tried to prevent this ending from happening.
Unfortunately, it had happened in the end.
At this moment, a huge sound appeared in the sky.
Like thunder.
But when everyone looked up, they saw cracks glowing with purple light appearing one after another.
They continued extending, then rapidly spread open like ravines.
Within these "ravines," people could see vague figures that seemed to be trying to break through some kind of boundary.
At this moment, the original Spider-Man suddenly said, "They're gone."
"Who?", the Amazing Spider-Man asked.
"Those suits, and the man who fires lasers from his eyes."
"They disappeared."
After hearing this, the Amazing Spider-Man realized that it was indeed so.
"Did they leave?"
"Or did they return to their own universes?"
The original could not answer that question.
Suddenly, a portal appeared in the sky.
Doctor Strange, wearing a magical cloak, flew out of the portal.
"This is really terrible."
"Even if we send the multiversal visitors back now, I'm afraid it still won't end."
"Unless..."
"All these multiversal visitors came because of Peter Parker."
"If everyone forgets Peter Parker, the incident should end."
"And..."
Stephen glanced at Osborn's body on the ground.
"Given the current situation, perhaps having everyone forget him would be a good choice."
"No."
"Rather, I have no other choice."
Doctor Strange sighed. Then he spread both hands, causing a magic circle to unfold above his head.
This was the Memory Spell.
A new Memory Spell.
A spell that would make everyone forget Peter Parker.
He sustained the magic circle, which radiated pure golden light, then caused each symbol to turn into streaks of light and shoot into the distance, heading toward every corner of the world.
Wherever these symbols and streaks of light passed, information about "Peter Parker" disappeared from people's minds.
All that remained was information related to Spider-Man.
They would still remember Spider-Man and remember what Spider-Man had done, but they could no longer connect Spider-Man with "Peter Parker."
Meanwhile, the cracks to the multiverse in the sky, as well as the original Spider-Man, the Amazing Spider-Man, and the other visitors from different universes, all disappeared into the air one after another.
After Osborn's body disappeared as well, MJ came back to herself.
She screamed, covering her thigh, looking somewhat confused.
She did not know why she had come here.
Nor did she know why she felt so heavy-hearted and so much pain.
"Do you need me to take you to the hospital?"
Someone spoke from above.
MJ looked up and saw Doctor Strange floating down.
"Aren't you a sorcerer?"
"Can't you make my injuries heal?"
