Chapter 379 - Chapter 367: Spider-Man Civil War

"Leave me alone."

Peter Parker rushed toward Osborn without stopping at all. Just as he was about to collide with the original Spider-Man, he leaped up with all his strength and jumped straight over the original's head.

"Sorry, Peter. I have to stop you."

The original Spider-Man spoke in a voice only he could hear, while firing a web toward the young Spider-Man.

The web stuck to Peter Parker's back. The original Spider-Man grabbed the web and gave it a hard swing, sending it into an arc and flinging Peter Parker away.

He crashed into a car parked by the roadside.

The original Spider-Man continued firing webs, sticking them to Peter Parker's hands and feet and pinning him to the car.

At this moment, Osborn ran toward the glider some distance away. When he reached it, he was just about to jump onto it.

The original Spider-Man fired a web at him, stuck it to his back, and pulled him over.

"I never said you could leave, Mr. Norman."

Osborn landed on the ground, blades springing from his arm armor as he cut through the web. He laughed and said, "I didn't expect to run into you here, Peter."

"Oh my God, there are two, maybe even more Peters."

"This is really interesting."

"If I could travel through the multiverse, I'd definitely make every Peter Parker in every universe break free from all the chains binding him."

"Be yourself again!"

The original Spider-Man walked toward him and said, "Having chains isn't necessarily a bad thing. At least, they remind us, so we don't end up causing tragedies that can't be undone."

Osborn had no intention of getting back on the glider either. He walked toward the original Spider-Man at the same time.

"This is where your problem lies, Peter. How many times do I have to say it? We should pursue absolute freedom."

"Freedom from morality, law, and even humanity!"

The two began running.

They quickly met.

Then their fists collided.

Each wanted to use his fists to send his own ideals to the other.

Meanwhile, the young Spider-Man, stuck to the car, freed his right hand by taking off his glove.

He then tore away the webs attached to the other parts of his body before putting the glove, which was still stuck to the car window, back on.

"Osborn!"

He shouted and charged toward the two fighting ahead.

He joined the battle.

Peter Parker kicked Osborn away.

Then he threw a punch that knocked the original Spider-Man back.

He then charged toward Osborn, but the original Spider-Man stuck his arm with a web.

"Leave him to me, Peter!", the original shouted.

The young Spider-Man turned his head. The two eyes on his mask narrowed into fierce triangles.

"No."

"He's mine."

"Stay out of this."

Then he grabbed the web and began spinning around with himself as the axis.

Peter Parker's pull dragged the original Spider-Man into the air against his will. After spinning several times, the web snapped. The original gave a soft cry and flew away, crashing into a billboard some distance away.

Before he could get down from the billboard, the young Spider-Man had already fired web after web at him, wrapping him up layer by layer until he could not move.

"Stop, Peter!"

The original shouted.

But he could not stop Peter Parker from turning around and charging toward Osborn.

"That's more like it."

Osborn laughed madly, "You're amazing like this."

"Peter Parker, you've understood the true meaning of freedom."

"Come on."

"Throw away so-called reason, kindness, and the law."

"Let's fight freely, without any restraints."

The young Spider-Man shouted as he ran, "Shut up!"

He jumped and, using his momentum, slammed a fist into Osborn's face.

The punch sent Osborn spinning around like a drunk.

"That one's for Aunt May."

Peter Parker raised his hand and fired a web, sticking it to Osborn and pulling him back.

"That one's for Ned."

Another punch slammed into Osborn's face, knocking his head backward.

"That one's for MJ."

Peter Parker threw another punch, but this time, before it could hit Osborn, Osborn caught it.

"Great punch."

"How does it feel? Pretty satisfying, pretty good, right?"

Osborn smiled like a demon, "Believe me, you'll fall in love with this feeling."

"Provided you can survive."

As they spoke, the glider had already flown over and crashed toward the arm Peter Parker had caught by Osborn.

Osborn wanted to break the young Spider-Man's arm.

But Peter Parker fired a web from his other hand at the glider. Once it stuck, he pulled hard. The glider immediately veered off its original path and crashed toward the stunned Osborn.

Norman Osborn was knocked away by the glider and fell to the ground, rolling again and again.

The young Spider-Man walked toward him step by step.

"This is going to be bad."

The original Spider-Man, pinned to the billboard by webs, shouted and used all his strength, successfully freeing his left hand from the webs.

Once one arm was free, things became much easier.

He quickly tore away the webs from the other parts of his body, then fired a web at a streetlight near Peter Parker and swung over.

Peter Parker had already gone from walking to running. He intended to kick Osborn down.

But just as he raised his foot, he suddenly looked left and saw the original Spider-Man swinging over. The original then kicked him away.

The original Spider-Man landed on the ground and raised both hands.

"Calm down, Peter."

"Think about Aunt May. Would she want to see you kill someone?"

Peter Parker got up from the ground and shouted emotionally, "Don't mention Aunt May!"

"What do you know!"

"You don't know anything."

Meanwhile, Osborn's sinister voice sounded behind the original Spider-Man.

"The kid's pretty rebellious, isn't he?"

The original instinctively turned, but Osborn's blade coming from behind still grazed his side.

His suit was cut open, and blood immediately appeared.

The original could only cover the wound and retreat.

He watched Peter Parker rush past him and punch Osborn in the face.

Osborn gave a strange laugh and leaned backward to dodge, then bent forward and charged. The blade that sprang from his arm armor swept across Peter Parker's waist.

The young Spider-Man jumped, dodging the blade while kicking Osborn.

Osborn retreated repeatedly, only to be caught by the young Spider-Man's web and pulled back. Then a fist rapidly filled his field of vision.

Bang!

Osborn took a punch and saw stars.

Peter Parker fired web after web, sticking Osborn's arm with the extended blade to a streetlight. He then threw punches with both hands, his fists raining down on Osborn's face.

In an instant, Osborn's face was swollen and bruised, but even so, he laughed loudly.

The young Spider-Man raised his arm again and was about to punch when the original warned him, "Watch out for the grenade!"

Only then did he notice Osborn had quietly taken out a grenade and thrown it toward him.

At such close range, once the grenade exploded, both he and Osborn would be caught in it.

There was no reason Osborn wouldn't know that.

But he did it anyway.

That madness coming from deep within him was frightening.

However, Peter Parker, filled with rage, did not feel afraid. Instead, the grenade brought back unpleasant memories.

With extraordinary agility, he caught the grenade and threw it away the instant he grabbed it.

But they were still too close when the grenade exploded, so both were blasted away by a surge of green fire and the shockwave.

Peter Parker and Osborn both fell to the ground, coughing violently. For a moment, neither could get back up.

But the glider flew over under Osborn's control and scraped its sharp wing edge along the ground, sending sparks flying as it cut toward the young Spider-Man's neck.

Just as it was about to hit the young Spider-Man, a web landed on the glider and flung it upward, sending it into the air.

Then web after web struck it, sticking it to the body of the Statue of Liberty and temporarily preventing it from moving.

Peter Parker glanced at the original.

The original walked over, covering the wound at his side.

"Listen to me, Peter."

"I understand how you feel."

"I've lost family too."

"During that dark period after losing someone close to me, I was filled with anger."

"I've also said that I thought I had avenged Uncle Ben, but it didn't bring me peace."

"Peter, your life has only just begun."

"You should embrace the light, not throw yourself headfirst into the darkness."

Peter Parker finally managed to get back on his feet through his own strength.

He looked at the original.

"I'm already in the darkness."

Then he charged toward Osborn and leaped into a kick.

Osborn quickly raised both arms to block, but Peter Parker still kicked him away. He slid across the ground and finally crashed into the Statue of Liberty.

Osborn groaned and used the statue to pull himself back up.

Peter Parker stuck a web to his chest and pulled him over. At the same time, he swept his arm across and struck Osborn's throat.

The blow sent Osborn spinning and crashing to the ground. He covered his throat and could not speak through the pain.

Peter Parker bent down, grabbed one of his feet, and dragged him toward the statue.

At first he was walking. After a few steps, it became a jog, then a sprint.

When they reached the statue, Peter Parker shouted and slammed Osborn against it.

The pedestal of the Statue of Liberty cracked from the impact.

Osborn cried out and slipped to the ground.

He staggered back up, shouted, and stabbed toward the young Spider-Man with a blade.

Peter Parker turned his cheek to dodge it, then grabbed Osborn's arm.

"Feel the pain I felt when I lost Aunt May and the others."

The young Spider-Man forced Osborn's arm down. Osborn immediately cried out, and Peter Parker broke his arm.

"No, no, no."

Seeing Osborn lying in the distance with his arm broken, the original shook his head. He then used webs to secure his wound, performed emergency treatment, tore off his mask, gritted his teeth, and ran toward the two of them.

———

[Elsewhere]

Homelander was held in place by Starro's vibranium armor.

Starro came before him, blue electronic light flashing in his eyes, and said in an emotionless tone,

"Accept the transformation, my brother."

His eyes lit up, and blue beams shot from those electronic eyes.

Transformation Ray!

He intended to transform Homelander into a mechanical life-form.

Mechanical life-forms transformed by his "Transformation Ray" would obey him unconditionally.

That way, Homelander would become his puppet, his most powerful enforcer.

But just as Starro fired the "Transformation Ray," Homelander and the several vibranium suits holding him in place disappeared at the same time.

On top of the Statue of Liberty's head, Doctor Octopus Otto was enduring Sandman's attack.

Marko transformed into a sandstorm, continuously blasting Otto with fierce wind and sand, leaving Otto with no choice but to use his mechanical tentacles to shield himself.

After the wind and sand subsided, Marko appeared behind Otto and slammed a fist made of sand into his back.

At the same time, a stream of sand shot from his arm and sent Otto flying.

Doctor Octopus cried out softly as the sand struck him and knocked him outside the Statue of Liberty's head. He immediately fell, but moments later, he used several mechanical tentacles to climb back up.

Marko shook his head.

"This never ends."

Otto pushed his glasses up his nose.

"That's what I think too."

"So why won't you let me cure you?"

"You should know how useful the things Peter invented are. Look at that Connors guy. He recovered."

Sandman looked toward Connors, who had already returned to normal, though he had once again become disabled.

Sandman shook his head.

"Maybe he doesn't want to change back."

Otto said, "What about you? Do you want to live like this forever?"

"Can you hug your daughter like this?"

Marko looked at his own hands.

"Maybe I can't hug her anymore, but like this, I can protect her better."

"Besides, if I become a normal person, I'll be arrested when I go back. I'll be facing prison, and I still won't be able to hug her."

Otto shook his head.

"We did something wrong, so we have to take responsibility for it instead of running away."

"Running away will only take us farther from our families."

"It's not too late to stop, Marko."

Sandman had no time to answer. Nearby, Homelander and several vibranium suits suddenly appeared.

Sandman and Doctor Octopus were both startled.

"What the hell?"

Homelander glanced at the two and smiled.

"Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt your heart-to-heart."

Then he shot diagonally upward like a rocket, shouted, violently spun his body, and slammed the vibranium suit clinging tightly to his arm into the Statue of Liberty's torch.

The torch immediately groaned, then shattered into pieces. Fragments of all sizes whistled downward, smashing onto the ground and falling into the water.

The suit clinging to Homelander's arm was shaken loose. Homelander took the opportunity to pull his arm free, then grabbed the suit and brought it before his face.

The next second.

Two golden beams shot from Homelander's eyes. The beams swept sideways, and the suit was cut apart by Homelander's "Heat Vision."

Clearly, even vibranium could not stop the "Heat Vision" from cutting through it.

After cutting the suit apart,

another figure flashed into existence behind Homelander.

This figure looked exactly like him.

Except it had no cape or wrist guards.

A clone!

As soon as the clone appeared, light shot from its eyes, using "Heat Vision" to cut through the armor on Homelander's body.

The armor on Homelander was quickly cut away, but because they were too close to the Statue of Liberty,

the clone's "Heat Vision" not only cut through the armor but also moved across the Statue of Liberty, leaving crisscrossing red marks of light across the national landmark.

This scene simultaneously appeared on the televisions and phone screens of New York residents.

Daily Bugle reporter J. Jonah Jameson began shouting.

["Oh my God."]

["My God!"]

["The Statue of Liberty is finished."]

["There's one less national landmark."]

["Although Spider-Man didn't destroy it, I can be one hundred percent certain that the flashy guy who can make clones and shoot lasers from his eyes was also brought here by Spider-Man."]

["The facts prove that my assessment of Spider-Man wasn't wrong. He's a walking disaster. Wherever he goes, disaster happens."]

["Oh, it's falling."]

["The Statue of Liberty is going to collapse."]

Just as the reporter said, after the clone stopped firing "Heat Vision," the Statue of Liberty began to shake. Then fragments began sliding and falling piece by piece.

First its head, then its chest, then its waist. In the end, only the feet and pedestal barely remained intact.

———

[Below the Statue of Liberty]

After breaking Osborn's arm, Peter Parker pressed the Green Goblin's head against the statue's pedestal and rubbed it hard against the surface.

Osborn screamed, and one side of his face was badly injured.

Seeing this, the original Spider-Man was about to stop Peter Parker when the Statue of Liberty suddenly began shaking. Then irregular fragments kept falling from above.

"What happened up there?"

The original dodged while asking the question. Naturally, no one answered him.

Peter Parker also looked up. While he was distracted, Osborn kicked him away, then pressed himself against the pedestal. The face of the Statue of Liberty passed in front of him before crashing to pieces not far from him.

After steadying himself, Peter Parker was about to charge over, but falling rocks from above forced him to dodge first.

He made use of Spider-Man's advantages. With his agility and spider-sense, he not only easily avoided the falling debris, but even moved between the falling rocks while heading toward Osborn.

Bang!

After the final huge piece fell, Peter Parker jumped out from behind a fragment and kicked toward Osborn.

Osborn immediately rolled to the side, making the young Spider-Man's kick miss.

When he stood again, Peter Parker pounced toward him. But suddenly, yellow electrical light exploded between them, then formed the figure of the Black Max.

As soon as Max appeared, the Amazing Spider-Man landed beside Peter Parker. He looked at the young Spider-Man, then toward the original, whose wound was wrapped in webbing.

"Are you okay?"

The original Spider-Man, having removed his mask, showed a helpless expression.

"It hurts, but I won't die."

The Amazing Spider-Man gave a light laugh.

"I know."

"I have experience with this."

Immediately afterward, Doctor Octopus and Marko also reached the ground.

Otto naturally stood together with the three Spider-Men, while Marko appeared beside Osborn and Max.

The three villains exchanged glances.

Max spoke first.

"If I say that the only way we're going to survive is to work together, you shouldn't have a problem with that, right?"

Marko's voice was low, "As long as I don't go back to prison, I'll do anything."

Osborn covered his bloodied cheek and grinned viciously, "I don't care. I just want to kill Peter Parker."

Max shouted, "Then let's attack together."

On the other side, the Amazing Spider-Man warned, "Watch out. They're coming."

"I have a plan—"

Before he finished speaking, the young Spider-Man had already charged toward Osborn.

"Young people are so impulsive."

The Amazing Spider-Man said, "But I can understand him."

Doctor Octopus saw the young Spider-Man heading straight for Osborn and shouted, "I'll help."

"No, Mr. Octopus, you can't help with anything."

Suddenly, electricity flashed. A mass of yellow electric arcs appeared before Otto.

Max's figure was reflected in Otto's glasses, and then Otto was swallowed by the dazzling electricity released from Max's hands.

"No!"

Otto was blasted away by a wave of electricity, flying into the distance and nearly falling into the water.

He crashed onto the ground, his whole body continuously convulsing. The mechanical tentacles on his back even emitted electrical sparks, seemingly suffering an internal short circuit and temporarily unable to activate.

With a single attack, Max knocked Doctor Octopus down. The Amazing Spider-Man could only fire a web and swing through the air before launching himself toward Max.

But the Black man turned himself into electricity and easily neutralized the Amazing Spider-Man's attack.

After Otto was knocked away, the original Spider-Man chased after Peter Parker. At that moment, a wall of sand rose in front of him.

Marko's face appeared and disappeared on the sand wall.

"Let me through, Marko," the original Spider-Man said, covering the wound at his side.

Marko looked at his wound, "You're hurt."

"Then stay here."

"I don't want to hurt you, Peter."

The original Spider-Man smiled, "Neither do I."

"But I can't stay here. That kid needs me."

Marko sighed, "Maybe you should think about yourself for once."

"Next time."

After saying that, the original jumped, intending to leap over the sand wall.

The sand wall suddenly rose higher and transformed into a storm, wrapping around him.

Just below the Statue of Liberty, the three Spider-Men and Osborn's group once again clashed.

In the distance, on the stretch of road previously bombarded by Osborn, a car door lying over the charred road shook. Then a hand reached out from beneath it.

Afterward, the car door was pushed aside, and a figure staggered to her feet.

MJ!

She had miraculously survived.

Blood was running from her scalp, and there was a piece of broken glass lodged in her thigh.

Every movement caused intense pain.

MJ groaned and sat down again. She wiped her face and forced herself to look toward the Statue of Liberty.

She saw lightning flashing there and figures crossing back and forth, apparently engaged in a fierce battle.

Then she saw Peter Parker.

She saw him wrestling with Osborn.

"I have to get over there."

She gritted her teeth and said.
