Chapter 244 - Chapter 232: Is It Superman? No, It's an Enemy

Victor, Silas, Barry Allen, and Batman's butler Alfred all looked confused. None of them knew who the guy holding a trident was, the one who looked like he'd just stepped off a children's stage play.

Bruce Wayne took the initiative and said, "Let me introduce everyone. This is Mr. Arthur."

"Mr. Arthur has the ability to operate in the ocean. He has spent years rescuing people from maritime disasters, so those who know him call him 'Aquaman.'"

The platinum-blonde Vera added, "An Atlantean."

"My God, Atlantis?", Barry Allen said excitedly, "You mean the Atlantis that sank into the sea?"

"So Atlantis really exists?"

"Mr. Arthur, do you really live underwater? What's life like down there?"

"Do you have entertainment?"

"What do you usually do every day?"

"Do you need to wash your face and brush your teeth?"

Arthur tapped his trident, "Hold it, kid."

"Why do you have so many questions?"

"Are you some kind of curiosity machine?"

"I don't know the answers to those questions, because I've lived on land ever since I was old enough to remember."

"I only recently went into the deep sea, and I didn't even set foot in Atlantis, okay?"

Barry Allen asked in confusion, "You're an Atlantean, but you don't live in the sea? You live on land?"

Vera said casually, "That's probably because he's a mixed-blood."

"A lighthouse keeper for a father, and a mother who left him when he was still young."

"Maybe his mother thought he was too noisy. Crying kids are the most annoying."

Arthur glared at Vera, "What did you say?"

Bruce quickly stepped in, "Mr. Arthur, this is Miss Vera. She likes to joke around. Please don't take it personally."

"Miss Vera, figuring out why Mr. Arthur came here is more important right now."

Vera shrugged, then walked to the side and picked up a piece of cake to eat.

Arthur set his trident aside and stepped forward.

"I've brought bad news."

"That monster you mentioned, Steppenwolf, right?"

"He already took the Mother Box protected by Atlantis from the Doomsday Outpost."

Vera let out a short laugh and said softly, "Just as expected."

Arthur looked at her, "Miss, you seem to look down on Atlantis."

Vera said with a smile, "Do I need to show respect to you fish people?"

"I don't think so."

"The King of Atlantis is shortsighted and childish. A group that lives in the sea and doesn't dare reveal itself isn't worth my attention."

"Besides, you don't seem to like Atlantis either, so why are you so eager to defend it?"

Arthur snorted and decided not to keep arguing with this woman.

"Let's get back to the Mother Box issue," Bruce's voice sounded, "Steppenwolf now has one Mother Box."

"That means only two remain outside his control. We need to make plans as soon as possible."

Vera stuck out the tip of her tongue, rolled a piece of cream into her mouth, then licked her lips.

"Maybe two."

"What?"

Everyone looked at her.

Vera said easily, "Unless something unexpected happened, the Mother Box kept by the Amazons has probably fallen into Steppenwolf's hands too."

Victor covered his forehead, "That's really bad."

Vera nodded, "It is. Once he gets the one in our possession, he can unite all three Mother Boxes."

"If that succeeds, the whole world will be purified."

Barry Allen suggested, "This Mother Box hasn't awakened yet. Steppenwolf can't find it."

"Otherwise, he wouldn't have captured Dr. Silas."

"In that case, why don't we keep moving with the Mother Box and never give Steppenwolf a chance to find it?"

Bruce shook his head, "That's a defensive strategy, not an offensive one."

"When facing an enemy, defense doesn't solve the problem."

"Only by eliminating the enemy can we remove the threat at its root."

Vera wiped her mouth with a napkin, "I agree with that."

Arthur said in a deep voice, "But Steppenwolf is very powerful. I've faced him, so I know."

"He's probably the strongest being on this planet that I've ever seen."

Vera stood up and smiled, "That's because you haven't seen me."

Arthur gave her a doubtful look.

Bruce nodded, "Miss Vera has fought Steppenwolf before. He couldn't gain an advantage against her."

Arthur turned to Bruce, "Are you sure you didn't see wrong?"

Victor said in a low voice, "We all saw it."

"Miss Vera is very powerful. We don't know whether she can defeat Steppenwolf, but she can at least stand against him."

Arthur nodded and said to Bruce, "Didn't you tell me before that you wanted to form an alliance?"

"Fine. I'm in."

Bruce looked around.

"Then we now have five people."

"It's a shame we can't contact Miss Prince. Otherwise, this alliance would be even stronger."

Arthur raised an eyebrow, "Miss Prince?"

Vera said, "An Amazon. She carries the blood of the Old Gods, so she can probably be considered a demigod."

Arthur shrugged, "That really is a shame."

Vera was about to say something when her expression changed.

At that moment, a voice sounded above them, "No need to be disappointed."

"As long as you hand over the Mother Box."

"You won't need to worry about anything else."

Everyone looked up.

A figure landed on the ground. He straightened up, and a red cape fluttered behind him.

Barry Allen shouted excitedly, "It's Superman!"

Victor said nervously, "No, it's an enemy!"

"The Conqueror!"

Victor's hand shook. His arm immediately transformed into a white-noise cannon.

Everyone treated him as a major threat.

Bruce's expression also became serious, and he regretted not wearing his combat suit.

Silas pulled his son behind him and stood together with Alfred.

Barry Allen looked confused, but seeing Bruce and Victor so tense, he prepared himself to act at any moment.

Aquaman stepped back to his trident. After picking up the weapon, he said, "Is no one going to introduce this gentleman to me?"

Only then did Bruce say in a deep voice, "This is the Conqueror. He's responsible for the destruction in Metropolis."

Victor added, "He also damaged the White House and stole a Mother Box before. If Superman hadn't stepped in, nobody knows where that Mother Box would be now."

Arthur tightened his grip on the trident, "Sounds like a seriously troublesome person."

Homelander laughed, "You don't need to be so hostile toward me. At least this time, we're on the same side."

He turned and looked at Arthur, "You should thank me. I took care of a problem for you."

Arthur froze, "What problem?"
