BWDC:SDDK Chapter 103: Both Legs Broken by Batman
Regarding the situation unfolding within the Suzuki Foundation Exhibition Hall, Ren Ichimonji was completely in the dark.
His mind was currently occupied by an entirely different matter—and no, he wasn't fixated on military affairs like the principal.
Ren Ichimonji was looking for Seiran Hoshi.
Phantom Thief Kid might have actually abandoned the idea of stealing the Imperial Easter Egg due to the shifts in the timeline, but Seiran Hoshi certainly had not.
Since this international thief, codenamed "Scorpion," had appeared in Tokyo and infiltrated the Suzuki Foundation under a pseudonym, her goal could only be the Imperial Easter Egg that the foundation had yet to put on display.
Beating Seiran Hoshi first and then handing her over to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department was undoubtedly the right move.
At this very moment, Seiran Hoshi had no idea that Batman was looking for her. Otherwise, given her murderous disposition, she would likely already be preparing her weapons and planning Batman's assassination.
As one of the top assassins in the world of Detective Conan, Seiran Hoshi had never missed a shot. Every single bullet unerringly claimed the life of her target. In fact, she found the simple act of shooting someone to death insufficiently challenging.
She had set an additional rule for herself: she only shot her targets in the right eye.
Much like the character Li Xunhuan from a certain great Eastern nation she had once visited, who was famous for his "Little Li's Flying Dagger," as long as Seiran Hoshi fired, she was guaranteed to hit the target's right eye. The bullet would then tunnel through the eye into the brain, drilling straight through the skull.
Countless international investigators had died at her hands. Consequently, the moment other international agents saw someone hit in the right eye, they would instinctively assume the shooter was the elite assassin known as "Scorpion."
Such was the oppressive reputation of Seiran Hoshi.
"The treasures of the Romanov Dynasty..." she murmured softly, "should have belonged to me from the very beginning."
She was maintaining her handgun, looking somewhat distracted. The reason she was so obsessed with obtaining the Romanov treasures was that her ancestor was none other than Grigori Rasputin, the famous "mad monk" of the Romanov era.
Outside, the sky had gradually darkened. The sunset had slipped away from the horizon unnoticed, and the light in the room grew dim. Seiran Hoshi looked up and finally stood.
She was about to press the light switch to illuminate the room. However, the instant she neared the switch, a low voice rang out right next to her ear.
"Hey, want to know my secret identity?"
—What did you say?
A flash of shock crossed Seiran Hoshi's eyes. She was a world-class assassin; no one had ever been able to sneak up on her without her knowledge, let alone get that close without being detected.
Just what kind of person could achieve such a terrifying feat?
Her gaze sharpened. Without hesitation, she threw a backward elbow strike. Neither the Chinese-style cheongsam she wore nor the high heels on her feet seemed to hinder her movements in the slightest.
However, her elbow was caught with ease.
In the next moment, Seiran Hoshi was hoisted up by a colossal force and slammed violently against the nearby wall. A loud thud echoed through the room!
She felt as though her body was falling apart from the impact. Struggling to lift her head, she looked at the figure obscured by the shadows. She could only make out a silhouette with something protruding from the head, resembling two small ears.
Ren Ichimonji's gaze was sharp.
For the first time, he felt that this particular form was a bit restrictive. To this day, he still didn't know which legendary Batman enjoyed drinking coffee and would automatically trigger sound effects and a decrease in aggression whenever he got near a beautiful woman!
He was attacking Seiran Hoshi while actively fighting against the compulsions of this state.
Seiran Hoshi struggled to push herself up from the floor. She kicked her high heels aside, standing barefoot on the floor, and tore a slit in her cheongsam to prevent the dress from getting in her way.
Though she didn't know who this person was, she figured it was likely a bounty hunter. Encountering such an opponent while wearing restrictive clothing was no different from seeking death.
Her martial arts stance wasn't the main point. She was merely using the framework of combat to distract him, intending to end the fight instantly with a quick-draw shot.
Before making her move, she asked, "Who the hell are you?"
The man replied:
"I'm Bat—"
Before he could finish, she lunged for the handgun she had just tucked into the holster on her inner thigh. She intended to end the battle immediately, but she discovered something that left her stunned.
Her tactics were underhanded, but her opponent's were even more so.
Seiran Hoshi felt only an empty holster; the handgun was gone!
She looked up just in time to see her beloved pistol blurred in Ren Ichimonji's hands, instantly dismantled into a pile of parts that clattered to the floor.
In the hallway of the Suzuki estate, it seemed someone had noticed the commotion. Footsteps were approaching.
Seiran Hoshi immediately hatched a plan. She would stall until the Suzuki Foundation servants arrived, then use them as a distraction to escape this bounty hunter. Even without a gun, she wasn't an opponent who could be dealt with easily!
However, in Ren Ichimonji's eyes, the battle was already over.
The moment he had made contact with Seiran Hoshi—the second after she had asked her question—the one-minute Batman state had expired.
Ren Ichimonji stepped forward.
Opposite him, Seiran Hoshi's eyes widened. As Ren's face moved into the moonlight, his true appearance was revealed. It was actually...
Jack Chen?
Looking at that improbable face, Seiran Hoshi was in disbelief. She heard him say in Chinese:
"Seiran Hoshi. Hello, and goodbye."
A powerful electric current instantly exploded across Seiran Hoshi's back.
During their initial contact, Ren Ichimonji had already planted a stunner on her. He had been unable to activate it due to the negative effects of the one-minute Batman state, but now that the state had ended, he was free to take her down.
Thud.
Seiran Hoshi collapsed to the ground, losing all combat capability.
Ren Ichimonji, however, had no intention of being a "gentleman" to this lady. With a flick of his wrist, the "Kind Physics Holy Sword"—a crowbar—appeared in his hand.
Before Seiran Hoshi could utter another word, both of her legs were broken by Batman!
Batman has a "no-kill" rule. But "no-kill" doesn't mean I can't put you in the ICU.
Besides, with the Physics Holy Sword, she wouldn't die.
"Aaaagh!"
The blood-curdling scream instantly echoed throughout the entire estate.
