Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: Batman vs. Kingpin

"Given Mr. Norman Osborn's reckless decisions regarding the so-called 'Super Soldier Serum,' and the continuous damage these actions have caused to Osborn Group's stock value…"

The voice in the conference room was calm, official, and merciless.

"The exposure of illegal human experiments conducted on the second basement level, as well as the fatal incident that occurred on the third basement level, have severely damaged the company's reputation."

Every director sat rigid in their seat.

"The Board of Directors therefore concludes that Mr. Norman Osborn is no longer fit to serve as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Osborn Group."

A brief pause followed.

Then the final blow landed.

"It is hereby resolved that Mr. Norman Osborn be immediately relieved of all duties and authority."

From the moment Valentine finished introducing Wilson Fisk to the board, less than five minutes had passed.

And yet, in that short span of time, the fate of Osborn Group had been violently rewritten.

No one had expected it.

Not the executives.

Not the investors.

Not even the scientists who had long worked alongside Norman Osborn.

The man who looked like a benevolent businessman—large, composed, almost grandfatherly—had just executed a corporate coup without hesitation.

Professor Curtis Connors frowned deeply.

He had worked with Norman Osborn for years. Whatever Osborn's flaws, Connors knew the man's brilliance and dedication to scientific progress.

"Who exactly are you?" Connors asked, his voice sharp. "I've never heard of you before today."

Wilson Fisk turned toward him slowly.

His smile was gentle.

Almost kind.

"I am merely a spice merchant," Kingpin replied calmly. "Nothing more."

Several board members exchanged uneasy glances.

"I only believe," Kingpin continued, "that if Osborn Group wishes to survive and grow, removing Norman Osborn is a necessary step."

Connors clenched his jaw.

Before he could speak again, Kingpin stepped forward, resting both massive hands on the conference table.

"There is also no need for debate," Kingpin said mildly. "I now hold sixty-seven percent of Osborn Group's shares."

The room froze.

"That grants me absolute control. The announcement was a courtesy."

The conference room exploded into chaos.

Voices overlapped. Chairs scraped. Shock rippled across every face.

Valentine lowered his head slightly, a cold sweat running down his spine.

Only now did he realize he wasn't the only one.

Kingpin had taken shares from many people—through intimidation, coercion, and threats disguised as business negotiations.

Some of the board members suddenly understood why their colleagues had "voluntarily" sold.

"I object—!" Connors slammed his palm on the table and pushed himself up, anger blazing in his eyes.

Before he could finish—

SMASH!

The conference room doors burst open violently.

The impact echoed like a gunshot.

A woman with silver-gray short hair strode in confidently, dressed in a light-colored suit. Her posture was sharp, her eyes cold and calculating.

Behind her walked a man in a formal lawyer's suit, wearing dark red sunglasses.

"Distinguished members of the board," the man said calmly, his voice steady. "My name is Matt Murdock. I am legal counsel for my client."

Kingpin's eyes narrowed.

Murdock continued.

"We possess conclusive evidence that challenges the legality of the funds used by Mr. Wilson Fisk to acquire Osborn Group shares."

Murmurs surged again.

"According to this evidence," Murdock said, turning slightly toward Kingpin, "Mr. Wilson Fisk is the criminal known as Kingpin—New York's most notorious crime lord."

Kingpin's smile vanished.

"And the funds used to purchase these shares originate from cigarette trafficking, arms smuggling, extortion, and organized robbery."

Each word struck like a hammer.

Silver Sable crossed her arms, leaning casually against the wall. She didn't understand legal language, but she understood power—and she could tell this man was stripping it away piece by piece.

SLAP!

Murdock pulled a document from his coat and slammed it onto the conference table.

"I have already filed a preliminary injunction," he said, "requesting the court to immediately freeze all disputed shares currently controlled by Mr. Wilson Fisk."

The implication was devastating.

Every cent Kingpin had poured into Osborn Group—gone.

Worse still, he had deliberately bought at inflated prices while the stock was falling, intending to launder his criminal fortune in one massive sweep.

Now?

Everything had turned to dust.

Kingpin's face twisted.

The mask of kindness shattered.

The monster beneath emerged.

WHOOSH!

With a roar of pure rage, Kingpin seized the enormous conference table and flipped it like a toy.

Wood splintered.

Papers exploded into the air.

The massive table hurtled forward like a missile.

"Dodge!" Silver Sable shouted.

She leapt aside instinctively, reaching to pull Murdock with her—

But she stopped.

The blind lawyer had already moved.

His body twisted with impossible agility, sliding away as the table smashed into the far wall.

"Run!" Silver Sable yelled. "Let the police handle him!"

The board members didn't need convincing.

They fled in terror, scrambling over fallen chairs, desperate to escape.

In seconds, the room was nearly empty.

Only three remained.

Kingpin.

Silver Sable.

And Matt Murdock.

Murdock turned to leave.

He needed space—time—to change.

To become Daredevil.

But Kingpin had only one thought.

Kill him.

The injunction had destroyed everything.

He didn't care who was behind it.

He didn't care about Osborn Group anymore.

All he wanted was blood.

BOOM!

Kingpin stomped forward.

The floor shuddered under his weight.

His muscles swelled beneath his white suit, seams straining as if they might rip apart at any moment.

He raised a fist larger than Matt Murdock's head.

Then—

A sudden gust of wind swept through the room.

A black figure dropped silently between them.

Tall.

Broad.

Clad in a matte black battle suit.

Two sharp ears cut the silhouette.

Cold eyes stared out from beneath the cowl.

Batman.

Kingpin's pupils contracted violently.

His breathing grew heavy.

His fists trembled.

He hated this man.

Batman had destroyed his arms deal.

Captured Scorpion Mac.

Taken his driver, his bodyguard, his trusted assets.

Forced him to accelerate his plans.

And now—

Now Batman stood in his way again.

"You…" Kingpin growled.

Batman didn't speak.

He simply raised his guard.

Kingpin roared and swung.

WHOOSH!

The punch tore through the air, creating a violent pressure wave.

It was a strike meant to crush steel, shatter bone, and end lives.

Behind them, Murdock listened intently.

"His heartbeat isn't accelerating," he murmured. "Breathing steady. Complete confidence."

Silver Sable grabbed a chair, ready to rush in—

"No need," Murdock said quietly.

BOOM!

The punch landed.

The sound was like artillery exploding inside the building.

Batman's body was hurled backward, smashing through the wall in a cloud of dust and concrete.

Silence followed.

Kingpin stood there, chest heaving.

Then—

A shadow moved.

Batman stepped out of the debris.

Unbroken.

Unshaken.

He rolled his shoulders once.

Kingpin's eyes widened.

The real fight had just begun.
