Skylar and Alucard began to adjust to the new change. Children laughing and running. Humans are building homes and creating ways of surviving, and building a new life altogether around the castle and the Belmont home. Tents here and there, campfires, even organizing inside the ancient buildings, the Belmonts and Tepes family called their respective homes. Skylar and Alucar sat high on a perch of the castle.
"Hm?" Alucard let out a hum as the wind blew. Skylar raised her head and followed Alucard's gaze downward. Children were laughing and looking up at them.
"Oh," Skylar said, grinning with teeth. Alucard stood up, and Skylar did the same. Then, they both leaped down. The children gasped. Skylar and Alucard continued to plummet. Skylar began to emit sunlight orbs as she plummeted towards the ground with Alucard. Skylar and Alucard stopped just above the children. Skylar was being held up by orbs of daylight, while Alucard could just float.
"Boo." Skylar and Alucard said at the same time. The children smiled, then ran off laughing. Skylar and Alucard moved to stand upright. Footsteps came towards them.
"That was nice of you," Greta's voice came from behind them.
"I didn't know anyone was watching," Alucard said, turning away from Greta.
"I was looking for you two," Greta said, looking at the children. "Imagine my surprise when you both dropped out of the sky and frightened a year's growth out of the little bastards."
"Sorry," Alucard apologized. Skylar looked at him, locking her arm in his.
"I doubt she was upset by that," Skylar told him, resting her head on his shoulder.
"She's right, really," Greta said, hands on her hips as she turned to Alucard. "It was nice of you. They don't all have an adult who'll pay any attention to them at all."
"Let alone plummet down on them, like death from above, I suppose," Alucard said.
"You gave them a story they'll be telling forever," Greta countered. "I heard them laughing."
Alucard looked at Greta, then at Skylar. Then he turned, following the sounds of children laughing. The half snake creature with Cindy, playing with the dog and children, other day creatures making the children laugh, one acting as a slide for children. Lifting them on its head before sitting up, using its wings as walls, as the children slid down its back. Then, he saw his sister, Dracule, smiling at the children playing. The first smile since they lost their parents.
"This place has light now, Alucard," Skylar told him, her hand in his. "It has more life in it."
"Hm," Alucard hummed as he looked over the sight. Then he looked up at the castle. "It's been a while since children laughed here. You were looking for us?"
"I wanted to talk to you about defences," Greta said, folding her arms. "And I wanted to ask about your supplies."
"I'm not sure there's much," Alucard said, his hand on his chin.
"Well, that's the thing," Greta began. "I was hoping we could use some of the dried meat you have to make meals go a little further?"
"Use it all," Alucard said.
"Seriously?"
"He hasn't looked through the castle much," Skylar jumped in. "I doubt Dracule has either."
"I see, then let's focus on defences," Greta said. "Initially, I had hoped closing the castle doors would be enough to keep people away, but..."
"We'll show you where the weapons are," Skylar said, walking ahead with Alucard, Greta following behind. High overhead, eyes were watching them. A bird with wings bent at an unnatural angle, and eyes glowing an eerie shade of purple.
"Big sister," a voice spoke through the bird. "I finally found you, Skylar."
The bird vanished in the air, and dark purple smoke swarmed it before vanishing. Far from the castle, as far from people as you could go, there was a place built like a kingdom. Planning, scheming, and training filled the area. No children were anywhere in sight. Deep in the big castle, there was a man with dark hair, haunting eyes, thin for an adult, and dressed like a high-ranking government official.
"Father Crestar!" a young woman's voice rang out. "I found her! I found Skylar!"
"Flow," The man said as he turned. A young woman with dark skin and short brown hair came running. She was grinning, her eyes were a bright, glowing purple. She wore a skin-tight necklace with a purple gem in the center. She wore a white shirt with long, shoulderless sleeves and a grey flowing skirt. "Where is she?"
"With Dracula's children, and some pests, nothing we need to worry about as far as I could tell," The girl Father Crestor called Flow said. "Then again, I was the only one who saw them."
"Never underestimate your enemy, my dear," Father Crestor said, tilting the girl's chin up. "Now go gather our army, we have a daughter to bring home."
"Of course," Flow said, then ran off.
"..." Father Crestar sighed, then looked at a wall of paintings. One of Skylar in her younger years, standing with a girl and another young girl, with slanted almond eyes, dark skin, dark hair with blond streaks, and a bow in her hair, smiling with Skylar. "Why couldn't you leave things be, Dawn? This wouldn't have needed to happen."
The man could still remember the day Dawn died. She came in and questioned the ways of the clan. Father Crestar made a choice. And tore her soul out, leaving nothing but her bow to be found. He had mentioned Skylar's parents and how they tried to keep her from the clan. He wasn't aware Skylar was there. She saw and heard everything. That was the night Skylar left and never went back.
"Skylar," Father Crestar sighed. "Why did you run off like that?"
Father Crestar went on with preparations. He was set on taking Skylar back to the clan and taking the world for his clan. Skylar was the only one who could use sunlight. And when Flow came and developed the power of moonlight and night itself, there was no use in taking in orphans or taking capable infants or slaughtering their families.
