Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: The First Step Into the Wild

Miss Luna: Hello everyone~ I'm new here. Please take care of me.

The Most Honest Person: The boss is terrifying. Pretending to be a newbie again.

Will Become a Dragon: So scary!

Lily: Woohoo… I want a pseudo-legendary too…

Emma: (pats the crying Lily.jpg)

Looking at the lively messages in the group chat, Luna couldn't stop smiling.

It was surprisingly fun.

She glanced at Dreepy, who floated quietly beside her. Unable to resist, she gently tapped its cheek again.

So cute…

"Boss, I'll head out first. If I don't understand something, I'll come back and ask."

After discussing Dreepy's habits and training basics with Ren, Luna stood up politely.

Lucas and Miya had already left about ten minutes earlier.

Lucas had actually wanted to battle her Dreepy immediately—but considering that Dreepy could fly and was a Ghost-type…

He wisely decided to wait.

"Come anytime," Ren replied with a smile as he walked her to the door.

After Luna disappeared from view, Ren swiftly closed the shop door and flipped the sign to Temporarily Closed.

Under the curious gazes of Diancie and Manaphy, Ren hurried back to the counter and spoke inwardly.

"System. The main mission condition is complete. What happens now?"

Ding!

"Current total revenue: 120 million.

Main mission requirement achieved.

Would you like to unlock the next stage?"

"Unlock."

"Congratulations, host. You have taken a major step toward spreading Pokémon into this world."

"You may now select a region for system deployment. Wild Pokémon will begin appearing randomly in that region's natural environments."

"System permissions updated:

– Technical Machine prize pool unlocked.

– Evolution-related item prize pool unlocked.

– Pokémon world berry tree seedlings unlocked."

Ren's eyes lit up.

Finally.

"Select region… Magic City."

"Region selected: Magic City.

Deploy immediately?"

"…No."

He refused without hesitation.

Now was not the time.

Wild Pokémon were completely different from the carefully screened Pokémon sold in his shop. The system-provided Pokémon had stable temperaments and weren't malicious by nature.

But wild Pokémon?

That was unpredictable.

He still remembered how Ash had been chased by a swarm of Beedrill on his very first day.

If Pokémon suddenly appeared without preparation, conflicts with civilians would be inevitable.

Worse—

If authorities misunderstood the situation and sent armed forces to suppress them…

That would be disastrous.

What Ren wanted was integration.

Not fear. Not hostility.

"It's time to talk to the higher-ups…"

He leaned back thoughtfully.

Then he opened the berry tree interface.

The screen filled with options:

Cheri Berry.

Chesto Berry.

Pecha Berry.

Petaya Berry…

Dozens of varieties.

These berries weren't just ingredients for energy cubes—they were essential food sources for wild Pokémon.

Berry trees had to be planted in advance.

Without a sustainable food source, wild Pokémon would inevitably clash with human settlements.

Ren carefully reviewed the system notes.

After Pokémon descended, the region's natural environment would gradually improve. Vegetation would grow lusher. Water would become clearer. Ecosystems would stabilize.

In short—

The environment would evolve to better suit Pokémon life.

Considering the industrial pollution in modern cities, that was almost a blessing.

"System. If Pokémon appear randomly… which ones?"

"Completely random."

Ren narrowed his eyes.

"So… Legendary Pokémon are possible?"

"Yes."

His expression stiffened slightly.

Ordinary Pokémon were fine.

But if a chaotic Legendary showed up too early—

Groudon. Kyogre. Kyurem.

Or worse.

Yveltal. Necrozma. Eternatus.

That would be catastrophic.

Even with Diancie and Manaphy in his shop, they weren't prepared for something like Primal Kyogre.

"Let's hope it's something gentle first… maybe the Legendary birds. Or something like that."

He exhaled slowly.

Step by step.

It had to be step by step.

---

Demon City No.1 Middle School

"Finally school's over… I don't even want to come tomorrow."

Lily stretched dramatically after walking out of the campus gates.

"Well, you spent the entire day distracted," Emma rolled her eyes. "You were daydreaming the whole time."

"Hehe~ Not important. If my mom didn't force me to attend, I'd skip daily. Let's go, let's go! Pokémon time!"

Lily grabbed Emma's arm and rushed toward their waiting driver.

School? Boring.

Pokémon? The best.

---

Pokémon House

The wind chime rang cheerfully.

"Boss~ We're here!"

Lily entered energetically, only to pause.

There were several unfamiliar customers inside.

"Business is good today," she whispered.

"School's out already?" Ren asked with a smile while processing a payment.

"Sit anywhere. If you want to battle, you can head to the backyard."

He handed a customer their receipt before turning back to the two girls.

He had just sold two more Pokémon—Ekans and Sandshrew.

"Then we'll head to the back," Lily said happily.

Emma followed.

At the counter, Ren handed over items to a young man who looked extremely satisfied.

"This is Poison-type energy cube. Ekans prefers this flavor. Two boxes are complimentary."

"Since Ekans is venomous, be careful. I recommend keeping antidotes on hand."

The young man nodded seriously.

"Then I'll take five antidotes and five more boxes of energy cubes."

"Of course."

Half an hour later, the final customer left.

Ren took a long drink of water and finally relaxed.

Plenty of people were curious.

Far fewer were willing to buy.

The price still scared many away.

Sitting in the lounge area, he spread out a printed map of Magic City.

"Western suburbs… large plains.

Eastern district… forest coverage…"

He began marking locations carefully.

"Boss? Why are you studying geography?" Lily asked curiously as she and Emma returned.

"Just learning more about the city layout," Ren replied smoothly.

"How was your battle?"

"Hmph! Emma only knows how to use type advantage against me!"

"You have Charmander and Trapinch," Emma laughed. "All my Pokémon are Water-type. What do you expect?"

"Type advantage is part of strategy," Ren said lightly.

Then he paused.

"I have a question for you two."

They both blinked at him.

"If Pokémon started appearing in large numbers in the wild areas of Magic City… what would you think?"

The room went quiet.

Ren watched them carefully.

He genuinely wanted to know.

If Pokémon truly descended into the wild—

How would the locals react?
