Chapter 49 - Chapter 47: The Daughter of Mathers

Accompanied by a massive convoy of girls, Regulus's journey to the Mathers territory was anything but boring.

However, upon finally reaching their destination, Regulus's gaze was instantly drawn away from his wives and fixed upon the beautiful girl who appeared outside the mansion to greet them.

She was incredibly beautiful.

She had a very tall, elegant figure and skin as fair as porcelain. Her flowing blue hair swayed constantly in the gentle breeze, making her look like a scene stepping right out of a painting.

Her most striking feature was her heterochromatic eyes—one yellow and one blue—which were filled with a peculiar, mesmerizing allure.

Besides that... she was remarkably well-endowed. Even the loose, oversized aristocratic clothing she wore could not completely conceal her impressive, fiery figure.

It was as if her very existence was meant to tempt men.

But it was precisely because of her outstanding beauty that Regulus felt a pang of profound regret.

Because she was Roswaal's daughter.

"Why have you all come here?" the blue-haired girl asked politely, eyeing the massive convoy.

"Miss, we are here by royal order to see Marquis Roswaal," Carol stated formally, stepping forward.

"Looking for Father?"

The girl reached out and took the sealed letter Carol handed to her. She recognized the crest immediately; it belonged exclusively to the royal family of the Kingdom of Lugunica.

This meant the massive, strange group in front of her were official envoys.

"Please excuse my rudeness. Everyone, please come in," the girl said, preparing to step aside from the path to allow the group to enter the mansion grounds.

But just then—

"Wait," Regulus said, stepping forward.

"Hmm?" The girl looked at the white-haired man who had suddenly spoken. "Is there something else, Envoy?"

"You just said 'Father'. Who is your father?"

"My father is the current Marquis Roswaal himself," she answered, slightly confused.

It was an obvious question. As an envoy, he must have known who the lord of the territory was. Furthermore, her distinctive blue hair and heterochromatic eyes were the absolute proof of the Mathers bloodline.

But this left Regulus somewhat bewildered.

However, after a moment of confusion, the canonical lore of this world clicked into place in his mind.

"You haven't inherited the name 'Roswaal' yet, have you?" Regulus asked, his eyes narrowing.

"Yes, not yet," the girl smiled warmly. "But it should be soon. Father said he is already making preparations for me to inherit the name."

"Making preparations..."

"Yes! At the latest, it should be tomorrow. If things go fast, the ceremony could even be tonight."

Facing this excited girl, who was genuinely happy about "inheriting the name," Regulus didn't know whether to laugh or sigh.

It was normal for her to be happy. He understood her perspective.

For her, inheriting the name meant she had received her father's ultimate approval. It meant officially becoming the head of the household and inheriting the Marquis title. It was an absolute honor.

She had no idea that "inheriting the name" actually meant her body would be possessed by the soul of the original Roswaal A. Mathers, erasing her existence entirely.

Regulus was silent for a moment.

He didn't expose the dark truth about the inheritance ritual. Leaving aside whether she would even believe a stranger over her own beloved father, it would just cause unnecessary chaos.

"What is your name?" Regulus asked.

"My name?"

"Yes. Before you officially become 'Roswaal,' you should at least have your own name."

"You may call me Julia," she smiled gracefully. "At least until tomorrow comes."

Under Julia's guidance, the vast group entered the mansion.

The royal letter was entrusted to a maid to deliver to Roswaal's study, while Julia stayed behind in the grand hall to attend to the guests.

However, facing over a hundred beautiful guests at once left the young heiress completely flustered. She was scrambling to organize tea and seating for the massive harem.

Meanwhile, in the center of the hall.

"You've been staring at Julia, Master~" Ine Mitarai purred, leaning against Regulus with a playful smile. "Are you perhaps smitten with her?"

At that question, Carol and Theresia, who were standing nearby, immediately looked over.

Unlike Regulus's established wives—who were completely accustomed to the massive harem dynamic and wouldn't mind a few more sisters—Carol and Theresia were still adjusting.

Having seen so many beautiful girls and knowing they all belonged to Regulus, they really didn't want the number to increase further. Even though they had clearly witnessed Regulus's terrifying stamina inside the carriage on the way here, their possessive instincts remained the same.

"Beautiful things make people want to look a few more times. It's simply an acknowledgment of beauty," Regulus replied smoothly, not answering directly.

To be honest, Julia right now was indeed captivating. Her figure and those natural heterochromatic eyes were top-tier.

But that was only for now.

If she were truly possessed by Roswaal, no matter how beautiful her physical shell was, Regulus would absolutely not touch her.

The thought of adding a woman to his harem who secretly harbored the soul of a centuries-old male warlock was absolutely revolting. Let someone else have that twisted, gender-bending fantasy; he certainly wouldn't.

But... it didn't have to end that way.

"Julia," Regulus called out.

"Ah! Mr. Regulus, is there something you need?" Julia hurried over, looking slightly overwhelmed by the hosting duties.

"Let your maids handle things here," Regulus said smoothly. "Could you please take me to see your father directly?"

He had made his decision.

It would be far too much of a pity for a beauty like Julia to be erased. He had to have a "good talk" with Roswaal. He would force the warlock to spare this girl's body, and then Regulus would use his own methods to take everything that belonged to her.

As for whether Roswaal would agree?

He definitely would.

Roswaal was strong, yes. But no matter how strong a mage was, it depended entirely on who their opponent was. And Regulus Corneas was invincible.

Facing his sudden request, Julia hesitated.

"No?" Regulus raised an eyebrow.

"Actually, it's not impossible," Julia relented, gesturing toward the stairs. "Please, follow me."

Regulus turned to his wives. "Wait for me here. I'll be back soon."

"Mmm." Ine, who had been holding his arm, released him obediently.

After watching Regulus walk away up the grand staircase with the blue-haired beauty, Ine turned to the red-haired woman beside her.

"Big Sister Lycoris, what do you think of that woman just now?"

"Julia?"

"Yes. Master seems to have taken an interest."

"Julia gave me a good feeling," Lycoris said thoughtfully, sipping her tea. "She was very polite, accommodating, and seems easy to get along with."

"So that means she passes the test, then!" Ine giggled.

"Ine, don't talk about 'passing' or 'not passing'," Lycoris chided gently. "This isn't something we should be deciding."

"Hehehe~ Big Sister is right. I overstepped. Whether she enters the family or not is solely up to the Master."

Their casual conversation greatly surprised Theresia and Carol, who were listening in stunned silence.

This was far too indulgent! They were actively evaluating a new woman for him!

But deep down, Carol and Theresia both knew that it was precisely this absolute tolerance and sisterhood from the girls in front of them that allowed the harem to function so smoothly.

Otherwise, the jealousy and infighting among a hundred women... just thinking about it made Carol's head spin.
