When a knock came early that morning, I groaned and buried my face deeper into the pillow. I considered ignoring the knock but when the knock grew louder and more persistent, I sat up.
"Lady Iris?" There was an urgency to the sound.
With a sigh, I forced myself up to my feet. The room was still dim, the morning sun only beginning to creep through the curtains. I had slept poorly again.
It seemed to be becoming a habit ever since my kiss with Hades and then the dinner. Actually, if I was being honest, most of my problems seemed to begin and end with Hades. The thought made my cheeks warm.
Annoyed, I climbed out of bed and opened the door.
A young male servant stood waiting. He immediately bowed.
"Lady Iris."
I still wasn't used to that title.
"What is it?"
The messenger held out a folded piece of parchment.
"This arrived from the Alpha King." He whispered lowly. Immediately, my stomach tightened.
