"Don't worry," Henri said lightly, almost amused. "It'll only take a few hours."
He pulled out his phone, tapping something quickly.
A second later
a portal tore open in the air.
Charlotte's eyes widened in shock just as his grip tightened on her collar. Before she could react, he yanked her forward and shoved her straight into it.
She squeezed her eyes shut, bracing for the impact
but instead, hands caught her shoulders, steadying her before she could fall.
Her breath hitched as she looked up, fear still clinging to her
and then she froze.
Hazel eyes stared back at her.
Glossy. Unsettled.
"Inés…?" Charlotte whispered, disbelief lacing her voice.
Footsteps echoed behind her.
Instinct snapped her back to awareness. She straightened immediately, turning sharply as Henri and his man stepped through just as the portal sealed shut behind them.
Charlotte swallowed hard.
Now it made sense.
