Two long, suffocating hours crawled by before the door finally creaked open and Inés stepped out. She barely had the chance to steady her breath before Dominique advanced on her like a predator closing in on prey. But before he could utter a single word, the doctor emerged right behind her.
"Doctor?" Alberto called, tension threading through his voice.
The doctor offered a reassuring smile. "The Alpha is no longer in critical condition. We were able to save him thanks entirely to this young lady here."
Relief washed over Alberto and Vittoria in an instant, both of them exhaling as though they had been holding their breath for hours.
Dominique, however, did not share their relief. His gaze hardened as it locked onto Inés, cold and cutting. He knew. He knew she had been pretending all along had concealed the truth about her abilities and learned to wield her magic in secret.
