Jay's POV:
"Jay, please open the door," Yuri said. It was almost the fifth time he had been banging on the door and begging me to open it.
I finally stood up and opened the door.
"Jay, are you okay? Why did you lock yourself in? What did Kegain say?" he asked.
I let him inside.
"It's just... he doesn't like me around here in his house," I said, looking down.
"Jay, I know that's not the only reason, but whatever he said, please don't mind him. He's dealing with some problems, you know... maybe he's not in the right state of mind. It's better if you give him some space," he said as he wrapped his arms around me. I hugged him back.
He pulled away from the hug, and I looked at him.
"Where did you go?" I asked.
"I went back to my hotel to bring the rest of my things. Since I knew someone was going to attack me, I had already packed all my important belongings. So if I had to leave the hotel in an emergency, I'd have everything with me," he said.
I nodded. Soon, he left.
I just sat there, thinking about Kegain's words... thinking about Aries.
I have to talk to Aries. I want to know the truth.
I picked up my phone and dialed his number. He answered almost immediately.
"Hello, Jay? Pl—"
I cut him off.
"I want to talk to you. Come here and pick me up."
"Okay," he replied.
I ended the call and went downstairs. As I walked past, I glanced at Kegain's room. The door was still locked.
I wonder what he's doing inside. Is he hurting himself or something?
I have to find out because I know he isn't sharing his problems with Keifer and is handling everything alone.
I came out of my thoughts when I heard a car horn.
"Jay, are you going somewhere?" Yuri asked.
"Yeah. If Keifer comes, tell him I'm going out with Aries," I said.
He nodded, and I went outside.
I found Aries' car. I opened the door and sat in the passenger seat.
"Jay..." Aries said softly.
"Let's go somewhere peaceful," I said.
He thought for a moment before nodding.
He started the car.
Neither of us spoke during the whole ride. Aries kept glancing at me, but I ignored him and continued looking outside.
The road was unfamiliar. I'd never been here before.
Just then, my phone buzzed.
Keifer.
"Hello?"
"Jay, where are you? Yuri said you're out with Aries. Is everything okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm with Aries. I wanted to talk to him."
"Okay. Take care. If anything happens, call me."
"Okay."
"Bye. Love you."
"Bye. Love you too."
I ended the call.
Aries gave me an annoyed look.
I looked at him and raised an eyebrow.
"We're here," he said.
I got out of the car and looked around.
It was almost dark, and the place was peaceful. No cars were passing by.
Wait...
Why did he bring me to this creepy place?
"Hey... it's scary," I said as I held the hem of his shirt.
"Don't you know? A witch lives here," he said.
I looked at him with wide eyes.
"Really?"
He nodded.
"You idiot! Why did you bring me here? Let's go!" I said as I turned toward the car.
Suddenly, he burst into laughter.
"I'm kidding, Jay," he said between laughs.
"You idiot!" I smacked his head.
He flicked my forehead.
"I'm your kuya."
I rolled my eyes.
"But seriously, why did you bring me here?" I asked while looking around.
Trees surrounded the area, and there was a hill nearby. I peeked over the edge. It was really deep.
"Me, Percy, Yuri, and Keifer... the four of us always used to come here. Whenever we bunked classes, whenever we had problems, or whenever we wanted to share something, we'd come here and forget everything. This place holds so many memories for us.
I also come here whenever I feel lonely. As you already know, I don't have many friends. The ones I did have were fake. They only cared about my money. And I don't like sharing everything with Ella... so I come here whenever I feel lonely."
His eyes filled with tears.
He looked away and quietly wiped them before pretending I hadn't noticed.
I walked over and wrapped my arms around him.
He hesitated for a second before hugging me back tightly.
We slowly pulled away.
Awkward...
"Mmm... Jay, I'm sorry," he said.
"Let's talk about it."
He nodded.
We both sat on a large rock.
"I've known your father for a very long time. The last time I saw him, I was only four... when your mother left him and took us away.
Then I saw him again at Hemlton University. At first, I was furious. I thought everything was his fault.
But then he contacted me after you left home crying.
That day, I met him, and we talked. He explained everything... about your grandfather and everything else.
After that, I realized he wasn't a bad person.
Still, I didn't fully trust him.
He gave me his number and told me to contact him whenever I wanted.
Sometimes I called him, and sometimes he called me to ask about you... about me... and sometimes about your mom too.
I told him everything.
I even told him about Keifer.
We slowly became close and started sharing our daily lives with each other.
It felt like I had finally found a friend... or maybe a father.
We even used to gossip about Keifer and backbitching him. I always complained about how annoying he was and how he kept kissing you and holding you in public.
Then, when our bond grew stronger and I found out Percy was alive... I got angry at him because he never told me Percy was alive.
I didn't talk to him for a month.
So... he sent me a car as a gift."
Aries explained everything.
My eyes filled with tears.
He had such a beautiful bond with my father...
And me...
I could barely remember my father's face.
"Hey... it's okay. I'm here."
He pulled me into a tight hug.
I buried my face against his chest and started crying.
"Shh... I'm here. Your big brother is here," he whispered.
"You want to meet him?" he asked.
I looked at him.
"He's coming here for business next week. But since everyone knows I talk to your father, Kuya keeps an eye on me. Dad also told me he'll only meet you if your mom allows it. So we have to ask for her permission."
"First, he's my dad, and our mom... Second, I know Mom. She'll never allow me."
I pouted.
"I know. We'll have to come up with a plan."
"I'll talk to Percy about it. Let's not put pressure on your tiny brain."
We both laughed.
We spent almost an hour talking.
Just random conversations.
Then I smacked his arm.
"You said you backbitched about Keifer!"
He simply grinned.
"I'll break your teeth! Besides, Keifer is a very good boyfriend. He always takes care of me and loves me. Whenever I feel low, I just hug him, and all my worries disappear."
He smiled and gently placed his hand on my head.
"I know. I know he's a good boyfriend and a caring partner. And I know how much you both love each other. But as your kuya, I still worry about you sometimes."
I nodded.
"I'm hungry."
"Nothing new."
We both laughed before getting back into the car.
He drove us to a restaurant.
We ordered our food.
I clicked some pictures and sent them to Percy and Keifer.
I sent them to Keifer so he'd know I was eating and wouldn't worry.
And I sent them to Percy just to tease him.
Hehehehe.
We ate, talked, and laughed at silly jokes.
After dinner, we came outside.
As I was about to get into the car, Aries held my hand.
"Will you always stay with me like this? Not just as my sister... but as my best friend... someone I can share all my problems with?"
I smiled and tightened my grip.
"I promise. I always will."
He smiled.
We got into the car.
"So... you're not going home tonight?" he asked.
I shook my head.
"No. I want to talk to Keifer about Kegain."
He looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
"What?"
"Ah... nothing. It's just... Kegain's health isn't good."
He nodded.
He drove me back to Keifer's house.
When we arrived, I hugged Aries one more time.
As we pulled away, his phone buzzed.
Just as he was about to answer it, the phone slipped from his hand.
I bent down to pick it up.
It was an unknown number.
I accidentally pressed the green button.
"Jay, don't—"
Aries was cut off when someone spoke from the other side.
"Hello? Hello, Aries?"
A man's voice.
I knew that voice.
I knew it...
But I couldn't remember whose it was.
Suddenly...
My mind went back to the basement years ago.

My vision was blurry...
Someone was screaming.

Aries shook me, bringing me back to reality.

Before he could stop me, I got out of the car and ran inside.
As I reached the living room, I saw everyone having dinner.
"Oh, baby. You're back," Keifer said.

But then my eyes landed on Kegain.
He was sitting there quietly.
A moment ago, he had been smiling.

His smile was gone.
Because of me?
"Yeah... I'm feeling sleepy," I said before running upstairs.
As soon as I entered the room, my breathing became uneven.
I changed my clothes and lay down.
I switched off the lights.
I tried to sleep...
But that scream...
That bloody face...
Those cold eyes...
They kept replaying in my mind.
Soon, I heard the bedroom door open.
I kept my eyes closed.
"Jay, baby... are you okay?"
Keifer lay down beside me.
I quickly turned and hugged him tightly, burying my face in his chest.
He held me close and kissed my head.
"I know something happened. Aries called me. Tell me when you feel ready, okay?"
I simply nodded and tried to sleep Eventually...

A dark room.
Two shadows.
Me and Aries...
Sitting in the corner.
The door suddenly opened....A man walked in.
He grabbed Aries and slapped him.
"What? You thought you could escape?" he yelled before punching him again.
I stood there, terrified...Not knowing what to do.
"Aries... please stop!" I begged as I grabbed the man's leg.
I bit his leg hard.
"Ahhh!" he screamed.
Then he punched me hard and shoved me into the wall.
Blood began flowing from my head.
I touched it.
Blood.
Then something changed.
I no longer felt any pain.
I looked around.
My eyes landed on a sharp piece of broken glass.
I picked it up and walked toward the man.
He looked at me and stepped closer.
Before he could take another step...
I stabbed him.
I Stab him ??
Then I slashed his jaw with the glass.
"Jay... Jay... are you okay?" someone shouted.
I couldn't remember who it was.
I only remembered one thing.
No one would hurt me.
I will protect myself.
I walked toward the boy.
And stabbed him too.
He looked at me with wide eyes.
Blood poured from his stomach.
He collapsed beside the man.

I suddenly sat upright, breathing heavily.
Was it a dream...Or my past?
Tears streamed down my face.
My breathing became uneven again.
I shook Keifer awake.
He woke up instantly.
"Jay... what happened, baby?"
He switched on the light and handed me a glass of water.
I looked at him.
Then I burst into tears.
I hugged him tightly and sobbed against his chest.
He held me close and gently stroked my hair.
Then...
I started telling him everything I had seen.
