"I think this looks perfect," she said with quiet satisfaction. "Wear this with your black Oxford shoes and you'll look even more handsome."
She stepped away from the wardrobe, intending to slip out quietly before he noticed her lingering gaze. But Kade noticed. Without warning, he caught her wrist with gentle strength and pulled her toward him until she landed squarely on his lap.
Dakota looked down at him with a helpless smile, her heart fluttering. "What now?"
He rested one arm around her waist, holding her close as though it were the most natural thing in the world. "Can't I admire my wife for a while?"
Her cheeks warmed instantly. "You can..." She poked his chest lightly. "...after you get dressed."
With surprising agility, she slipped free of his embrace before he could draw her back in. "I'll go check on Takoda."
As she reached the doorway, Kade's amused voice followed her. "Walk slowly."
"I'm walking," she called back.
"And don't run."
"I wasn't planning to."
