She blinked at him with practiced innocence. "I'm not unreasonable."
"No?"
She slowly shook her head. "I'm just sleepy."
"And stubborn."
She thought about it for a moment before giving a tiny nod. "...That too."
His quiet laughter echoed through the bathroom as he reached for the buttons of her oversized shirt.
"Lift your arms."
Still only half awake, Dakota obediently did as she was told, allowing him to help her out of the clothes she had worn since the previous afternoon. The fabric was still stained with mud from the forest, and as the cool morning air brushed against her skin, she instinctively stepped closer until she was almost leaning against him.
"It's cold..."
"It won't be in a moment."
After testing the temperature of the water with the back of his hand, Kade nodded in satisfaction before supporting her by the waist and helping her into the large soaking tub.
The instant the warm, herb-infused water surrounded her, Dakota released a long, contented sigh.
