After a quick shower and a change of clothes, she left her room. The moment she stepped into the corridor, she frowned. Something felt different.
The estate was unusually busy. Servants moved briskly through the hallways carrying fresh flower arrangements, while others replaced decorative pieces and hurried past with boxes and armfuls of linens. Even the housekeeping staff seemed to move with a faster, more purposeful urgency than usual.
Maya watched one maid nearly jog down the corridor, arms laden. Her brows drew together.
"What is going on?"
The maid stopped abruptly. "Young Miss." She bowed quickly, looking slightly nervous. "We have guests arriving today."
Guests?
Before Maya could ask anything more, the servant hurried away, leaving her standing alone in the corridor.
Guests. No one had mentioned visitors.
