Chapter 17 - Dreamlike

"Sunny, I need you to go back to-"

Luna's voice was cut short witht he entire scene shifting. Sunny found himself waking up from under a tree in the outskirts of a town overlooking a meadow of grass and flowers that had a path weaving through it leading to the town.

On the path he saw horses pulling filled wagons heading into the town accompanied by some people on foot, some holding baskets atop their heads, some children running and playing amongst the people as children often do, and some mounted upon great horses as though escorting them all.

In the meadow of grass and flowers he saw people in the midst of harvesting flowers and herbs, throwing them into baskets mounted on their backs.

"What is this?" Sunny mumbled to himself, looking down at the brown lightly ragged clothing he was in.

He was certain he was elsewhere a moment before, though the memory felt, for some reason, as though it was but a distant dream.

"Finally awake, sleepy heads?" A man approached from the meadow, calling out from the distance, the flowers and herbs on his back lumping up to a mild hill slightly overfilling the basket.

Sleepy...heads?

Sunny realised that he was not alone, there was, in fact, someone leaning on the same tree, right beside him, making good use of the shade as well.

She was in a faded pink dress and her brown messy hair held back.

"Trinity?" He wondered.

It definitely looked like her, but the Trinity he had known, or dreamt of– he was unsure– was too pimp and proper to have the unkempt hair and dirty hands.

Looking back at the man, he had gotten close enough for Sunny to get a good view of his face. He had seen him before, but it had only been once back at the cathedral. He had delivered flowers.

"What the–" Sunny's statement cut short as memories started to bloom in his head.

Slowly, he rose to his feet, unsure of what to think. That 'dream' had felt all too real.

He looked around again, taking in the view. He observed the people and horses on the path, the town guards reviewing the entry passes for the wagons and the townspeople with the baskets while the little children ran through to continue their play in the town.

He reviewed the type of olden clothing they were all in and the smell in the air. It was a musky mixture of smoke, baking foods, aromatic flowers and a pinch of sewage to top it all off.

One thing, however, did catch his eye; a towering pillar rising from somewhere within the town, disappearing into the sky.

"Come on you two, the celebrations won't prepare themselves!" The man tapped Sunny's shoulder and ruffled Trinity's hair accompanied by a good shake of her head to wake her.

"Why are you always doing that?" Trinity asked, groaning as she managed to get to her feet and lean on Sunny.

"Geez you're heavy," he complained.

"You never tell a lady that!" She slapped the back of his head before storming away with a pout.

"Women..." The man sighed, placing his hand on Sunny's shoulder comfortingly.

"If you wanna call her that."

With a laugh, he patted Sunny, directing him to the town.

"What's with pink pumpkin?" Orion, one of the guards asked Sunny, pointing back at Trinity with his thumb when Sunny got to the gate.

"Someone called her heavy, but we don't point fingers," the man with the basket said, raising his hands in a mock surrender.

Orion looked down at Sunny and chuckled lightly before speaking, "You have a lot to learn."

Well she indeed was heavy for Sunny.

Flowwood town was the name of the town, esteemed for it's flowery and carpenter craftsmanship. What it was even better known for was, without doubt, it's celebrations. This would explain the masses finding way into the town under the claim of 'trade'. Everyone knew what they were coming for, but they were very much welcomed.

The crastsmanship was immediately evident once one stepped foot in the town. The buildings were artistically built, with shops having doors carved markings written the names of the shops accompanied by signs beside the doors.

Immediately, Sunny knew the place as though he had lived the the entirety of his life. Still, it felt completely surreal.

He walked through the streets, getting greeted by many along the read, some of which he knew well.

A group of soldiers on horses walked past, one of them shooting him a glaring look. He remembered him as the arch priest. He still looked as grotesque as ever. Sunny even wondered how the horse could hold up the fat man.

When Sunny got to the center of town he was met by a great statue standing in the middle of a clearing surrounded by fountains on each of the Cardinal directions which was surrounded by brick pavements with six more well kept statues standing next to corridors.

The place was decorated in preparations for the celebrations. A floral aroma filled the area from the flowers used to decorate.

"About time you showed up, princess," a voice called out as a middle aged man lowered himself from atop a high wall, supporting himself by rope.

This one Sunny had never met, or at least, he didn't have any memory of him.

"Yeah, I fell asleep," Sunny replied with a dismissive shrug.

"You good?" Trinity asked, downing a cup of ale, handing him one as she sat beside him next to one of the statues.

She was acting more like Moonlight than the Trinity he had known. Still, he doubted anything at all that he knew.

They had a clear view of the dancers claded in a traditional floral and feathered attire and the flame blowers. The music played stretched out through the whole town and perhaps even beyond its borders accompanied by laughs and cheers.

It was clear just why the people had been coming into the town for the past week.

The ale was simply spectacular, Sunny realised at the first taste.

He knew it was probably more advisable not to down the whole thing.

He didn't care.

He defied his logic.

He leaned back and gulped down the whole thing.

If he had to be here for the time being, he might as well enjoy the time.

Before he could think against it, he rose, grabbing Trinity's hand and charging into the celebrating crowd.

The cheers seemed to get louder the moment he charged right into the eye of the storm, dragging Trinity in with him.
