Chapter 109 - Chapter 109: Lightning (Part 1)

"He's too strong! Is this really Captain Shiki's power?"

"That idiot! He thought he could cause trouble on Pirate Island with just a little bit of strength. At this level, he can't even compare to a single finger of one of the High Officers!"

The pirate minions erupted into cheers as they watched Shiki subdue Oden in an instant. To them, the strength of the High Officers of the Rocks Pirates was synonymous with invincibility.

Although these invaders were impressive, having fought on par with Kaido, they were still far too green before the High Officers.

"Isn't this result only natural? After all, this is the 'Golden Lion' we're talking about!"

Flattered by such praise, even the Golden Lion found himself in a remarkably good mood. If he could get this swordsman to follow him as well, that would be even better, Shiki couldn't help but think.

"Underlings, take these people away." Shiki stood in the sky, speaking arrogantly.

But he suddenly realized that the pirates who had just been looking at him with worshiping eyes had now changed their expressions. They were all staring at him as if they had seen a ghost.

"What's wrong? Shocked by my power? Gyahahahaha!" He threw his head back and laughed wildly.

"Sh-Shiki Captain... B-Behind..." A pirate stretched out a hand, trembling. Shiki could see his pupils trembling.

"Behind?" Shiki turned his head, and his vision was instantly seized by a flash of lightning. Only after the blinding light faded did he see the figure wrapped in lightning, standing atop the central building of Pirate Island beneath the sea of dark clouds.

"Has that guy Shiki gotten too arrogant? He didn't even notice such an obvious enemy." Kaido, who had already moved away, scoffed. He couldn't see the full face of the figure wrapped in lightning, but the other party was just as conspicuous as the lightning itself.

Shiki was too arrogant; he hadn't sensed a thing.

Kaido didn't jump into the fray this time. It was obvious that this enemy wasn't someone he could handle right now. He might appear reckless, but he was actually quite calculating. If anyone mistook him for a brainless idiot, they would be dead wrong.

Shiki, looking at the man who seemed to stand above the dense clouds, uncharacteristically turned grave.

Purple hair, purple eyes that seemed to glow.

'I've never seen this guy before...' Shiki's gaze couldn't help but drift downward to Oden. This brat had already regained consciousness. 'This guy too, possessing such strength yet being completely unknown. Where did they pop out from?'

Shiki couldn't figure it out. After all, even Kaido had a bounty of 70 million berries several years ago.

"...R- cough—" Oden struggled. He recognized the identity of this thunder god-like existence. Or rather, it would be impossible to forget.

"Oh? Someone you know?" Shiki didn't have the spare attention to worry about Oden anymore. He gripped Kibutsu and Sakutsu in his hands, seemingly unwilling to be lower than the other man. He flew directly up to the same height as Ren.

Chapter 109: Lightning (Part 2)

Ren looked at him expressionlessly. Shiki's strength likewise put pressure on him, especially with another monster present on the island. Fortunately, Charlotte Linlin didn't seem to have any intention of joining the fight.

"My name? Call me whatever you like. If you wish, you can call me Lightning."

"Hah? You looking down on me?" Shiki narrowed his eyes. Ren's attitude clearly struck him as an act of disdain. Annoyed, Shiki raised his hand, and his two blades, Koubu and Sakura, instantly released a powerful Haki. The air currents formed a vortex, sweeping toward Ren in a massive surge.

Seeing a powerful slash wave bearing down on him, Ren remained unhurried. A purple halo of light momentarily manifested behind him, and above the halo, a single eye of lightning bloomed open!

The appearance of this halo made Ren look even more like the God of Lightning. Moreover, these two techniques were not mere imitations of the Lightning General's moves, created just for show. In reality, within this state, Ren's Observation Haki was further amplified, pushed to its absolute limit, as if he had opened the Mind's Eye!

In this state, Ren could perceive the slightest shifts and changes in all things around him.

He drew the Sandai Kitetsu from his waist. The crimson blade was coiled by purple thunder snakes, the lightning twisting and turning like a flash of sudden light.

He raised his sword and struck. The lightning shot forth. The name of this sword technique was Inazuma!

In an instant, it was as if a bolt of lightning had smashed down from the heavens. Sword Qi imbued with thunder blasted toward Shiki's slash wave.

In terms of Haki, Ren was still no match for a powerhouse like Shiki. Most of the executives of the Rocks Pirates were around thirty years old, and their strength had already reached its peak. Shiki, in particular, wielded Advanced Conqueror's Haki with ease. It was hard to believe that over thirty years later, he would actually be defeated by a straw-hat brat who couldn't use Haki.

However, while he was slightly lacking in Haki, Ren's lightning abilities compensated for it perfectly. The power of lightning merged with his swordsmanship, unleashing extraordinary might. Moreover, his Devil Fruit powers had arguably been developed to the extreme.

"You're quite capable. Lion's Thousand Ravine!"

Shiki wrapped both blades in Conqueror's Haki and instantly released countless wind blades. He looked as if he had transformed into the eye of a storm, continuously releasing violent winds capable of slicing through mountain mists!

"Heaven-Piercing Sword Light · Segmented Destruction!"

Ren was not to be outdone. With a single swing of his blade, he unleashed five streams of Sword Qi. After the lightning sliced through the air, it crashed down around Shiki, instantly leaving the town on Pirate Island in ruins.

The pirates scattered in all directions. The sword strikes falling from the sky were as violent as a sudden downpour. In a mere instant, the houses throughout the entire town were reduced to rubble and broken walls.

Gashes and scars covered the ground.

Seizing this opportunity, Kozuki Oden caught his breath. After recovering some of his stamina, he immediately rescued Kin'emon and the others, then entrusted the four of them to the sailors who had rushed over.

"You lot, quickly get them four back to the ship. I'm going to snatch that fruit back!" Kozuki Oden roared. Though in this situation, "steal it back" would be the more appropriate term.

Shiki, who was busy fighting Ren, failed to notice these small movements. The electricity Ren released caused Shiki's body to feel numb, while the Thunderbirds and Thunderbeasts continuously pouncing on him shrieked with ear-piercing, tearing soun
