"I'm still hungry!" Rebecca's voice cut through the room, stubborn and unapologetic, the kind of tone that expected the world to rearrange itself around her inconvenience.
"Then buy it yourself," Jared replied, his voice flat and entirely unmoved.
Rebecca's lips trembled with irritation, and even Joe looked briefly taken aback by the bluntness of it. "What is your problem?" she snapped, her composure fraying at the edges. "She's just a low-ranking pack member. Why can't I tell her to fetch something for me?"
"Mere pack member?" Jared's gaze was steady, unhurried, giving nothing away. "And what about you? Have you forgotten where you came from?"
