I stayed half-conscious beneath the giant tree while blood continued soaking through the cloth tied around my thigh. My wolf was exhausted from blood loss, but my instincts remained sharp enough to recognize the sound descending from the night sky. The helicopter blades tore through the mountain winds, scattering leaves and shaking the forest around me.
A few seconds later, four figures stepped out beneath the glaring lights. One of them immediately drew my attention. Dressed entirely in black, the man stood with the calm dominance of a born Alpha. His presence alone carried enough pressure to silence the entire forest.
