Chapter 540 - Chapter 537: Fafnir, Gradually Transitioning from Summoned Beast to Daughter

Looking at her, she seemed to be waiting for the other party to speak to her first.

Looking at this little guy—that beautiful hair, that beautiful face, those beautiful eyes, and that beautiful tail and horns—who wouldn't praise her as a beautiful little thing?

But why did the combination of so many beautiful parts, fused together into this little guy, cause her a persistent stomach ache? Why was that? Why did such a thing happen?

Jeanne stood speechless looking at this miniature fusion of herself and Talulah. What made her even more speechless was that the other party didn't have a single shred of cloth on her right now, standing stark naked before the eyes of Jeanne and the Doctor... the two of them really looked like criminals!

Jeanne hadn't expected that an all-powerful great dragon would have no way to use magic to manifest a set of clothes. You can clearly perform morphological transformations, so why are you sticking to realistic logic on this kind of matter!

Fortunately, the only people around right now were herself and the Doctor—two women—otherwise lives might have been lost! Come to think of it, Fafnir probably wouldn't mind killing people.

While thinking, Jeanne took off her loose outer coat and quickly fashioned a temporary outfit for Fafnir.

Upon receiving the first piece of clothing in her draconic life, Fafnir flailed her hands, waving those long sleeves in the air. She seemed to really like this clothing Jeanne gave her, flashing a smile.

"Heavens, how can this child be so cute! Even with Talulah's face, she's still this cute!" Jeanne lamented in her heart.

Talulah: You...

Jeanne suddenly felt the burden on her shoulders grow heavier. How was this summoning a partner to fight side-by-side? She had clearly called out a daughter, hadn't she?

Just looking at this face, no matter how she looked at it, she looked like the child of herself and Talulah...She was already thinking of a million ways she could use Fafnir to tease Talulah.

"Do you know who I am?" Seeing that Fafnir hadn't spoken for a long time, Jeanne crouched down to ask. She needed to know what the situation was with this child right now. Could she be lacking even basic common sense?

"Je... Jeanne-duh?" Fafnir uttered a name whose pronunciation wasn't quite standard. It seemed she did know who Jeanne was and was very clear about her name, but there were still some minor issues with her language skills.

And when this child spoke, whether it was because of Talulah's face or Jeanne's own illusion, Jeanne always felt the child looked a bit dim-witted, instantly making her worry about the child's future.

However, judging by the current situation, she would have to properly teach her language after returning. But looking at the other party, she should possess the corresponding basic knowledge; she just couldn't skillfully utilize that knowledge yet.

Or rather, this little guy's skill points were entirely allocated to combat, making her not so great at daily life matters. It looked like she was going to have to start raising a child before even having one.

Thinking of this, Jeanne gently caressed Fafnir's head with her hand. Because of Jeanne's touch, the little guy narrowed her eyes slightly, seemingly enjoying Jeanne's gentle stroking.

The Doctor watched this tiny little guy show a kitten-like expression from Jeanne's stroking. Her courage grew a bit larger and she wanted to reach out and touch her, but remembering that this child's true form was a giant dragon, she didn't quite dare to move.

Dragons weren't that easy to pet. Don't look at how obedient this child was like a little kitten in front of Jeanne; if you threw her onto a battlefield, probably not a single person could take a single punch from her. This little guy was just small in body, but her strength wouldn't be small at all!

Didn't she see that when she approached, the little guy looked at her with a face full of wariness? This was only because she and Jeanne were friends; otherwise, the other party might not let her get close.

But the Doctor still wanted to make some contact. As a scholar, she was indeed curious about the differences between a giant dragon in this state and its original body. But to make contact, she had to think of a good method.

While the Doctor was secretly observing Fafnir from not far away, Jeanne was trying to understand Fafnir's specific situation first, and teach this child her own name—at least get her to stop mispronouncing it.

"It's not Jeanne-duh, it's Jeanne d'Arc!" Jeanne wanted to correct the error in the other party's form of address immediately, very seriously correcting the little guy's pronunciation there, and Fafnir also leaned beside Jeanne to learn seriously.

After Jeanne's repeated corrections, Fafnir's pronunciation seemed a bit more correct this time, but Jeanne always felt what the child said still sounded a bit off. For a moment, she just thought the pronunciation still needed correction.

It was also because she was a bit thirsty, and she didn't have water with her. However, although it sounded a bit strange now, basically anyone could tell she was calling her.

Anyway, as long as she didn't call her "Mom" in front of others, Jeanne could already imagine how much explaining she would have to do in the future because of Fafnir's appearance. Just thinking about it made life feel difficult.

But she had to accept this, didn't she? This child was brought out by her, so no matter what kind of things happened, she should be the one to bear it... Looking at it now, Jeanne felt more like Fafnir's guardian.

"I think we should go back. By the way, where are we right now? Do you two know the location of the camp?"

Seeing that the communication between the two had paused, the Doctor quickly walked over to Jeanne's side and whispered, from time to time shifting her gaze to Fafnir, seemingly worried that she would throw her out.

Fafnir had no intention of throwing the Doctor out. The little guy just stared unblinkingly at the Doctor with both eyes, just like a wary little cat, looking like she might launch an attack on her at any moment.

She didn't trust the Doctor right now. The reason she hadn't moved was because Jeanne didn't show any reaction, so she believed Jeanne trusted this person; before the other party showed hostility, she wouldn't harm her.

Jeanne also nodded. The two of them indeed should go back. They didn't know to what extent the matters on Theresa's side had fermented, so they still needed to go back and take a look.

After all, with such a massive commotion, it was impossible not to attract attention. It was estimated that right now, Theresa and Kal'tsit were burning their brains out trying to stabilize people's minds and deal with those officials.

But speaking of going back, with Jeanne here, how could there not be a convenient means of transportation? In the next second, Jeanne called out an Earth Dragon, intending to use it as a vehicle.

However, when Fafnir saw that Earth Dragon, her eyes instantly became dangerous. The look she gave Jeanne seemed to contain the emotion of "You are actually raising other dragons beside me!?," and that Earth Dragon also instantly knelt due to Fafnir's gaze.

"Don't scare it. If you scare it out of its wits, we'll all have to walk back! The commotion when you fly is simply too big, we should still keep a slightly low profile..."

Seeing Fafnir scaring that poor fellow there, Jeanne lightly tapped the top of Fafnir's head with her finger to make the little guy behave a bit.

"Oh..." Hearing what Jeanne said, Fafnir stopped scaring this creature whose dragon blood wasn't very pure in her eyes. Anyway, she didn't recognize this thing as belonging to the category of dragons.

And so, they sat on this dragon and ran rapidly toward the direction of the camp. As for how to confirm the path? Jeanne could tell you a secret: Revelation, all-knowing!

The problem, however, was that this ride wasn't very comfortable. Logically speaking, it should be very comfortable for the three of them to sit on this kind of Earth Dragon, and sitting on the Earth Dragon which ran very stably, there shouldn't even be an issue with sleeping.

But because Fafnir was sitting on its back, this fellow looked like its wits were completely scared out of it. It was entirely running at a rapid pace that surpassed its limits, only praying that upon reaching the destination, Jeanne would let it go.

This also made the weak-willed Doctor experience the feeling of motion sickness again. She adjusted there by herself for a long time before recovering her strength, sitting there motionless as if in deep meditation.

Meanwhile, Jeanne was currently wondering if Fafnir would be hungry? And the question of what she could eat given her current situation.

What should this little guy, who was born just one day ago, eat? She couldn't possibly drink milk, right? Where on earth was she supposed to find a cow-like beast to squeeze milk for her at this time!
