Hearing this, Asher Ryder reached up to grab the basket of snails for Ewan, while Simon looked puzzled: "Didn't you just put it back up there? What's going on, need to take it down for something?"
"I want to try marking them. I've never made this dish before, so I don't know if their arrangement and placement in the basket will affect their survival rate."
Ewan carefully examined the snail basket as he spoke, marking the ones in hidden spots that might be affected. Simon was surprised at this point: "Survival? I thought you were air-drying them? They can still survive hanging over the kitchen rack like that?"
Ewan handed the basket of snails to Asher Ryder to put back on the rack, carefully reminding the man not to mess up their arrangement, then winked at Simon: "Of course."
Once done, Ewan dusted off his hands, suddenly unsure of what to do this morning.
"Let's check the jars of syrup you made earlier. It's been a while, I want to taste their flavor."
