Dante didn't wait for Mila to answer. He needed to spend time with her before the third wheel popped back up and they were interrupted again.
He had already made it halfway to the door, Mila's arm in his hand, when Markus stepped back into the room.
It was almost like the other man had planned it. Like he had been waiting outside of the door just to be a dick. The whole thing was simply timed well enough that it cut off the moment before it could become anything else that Dante knew it was done on purpose.
Markus didn't look at Dante first. His attention went to Mila, taking in that she had her shoes on, that Dante was already halfway out, that whatever was about to happen had already been decided.
A brief, indescribable look flashed on his face for a second before it was gone. Then he looked at Dante.
