Dante did not bring the reports out of his office for one simple reason.
He finally felt like the could breathe in this house, and he wasn't willing to contaminate it any more with 'office work.'
So, he left them where they belonged—on his desk, contained, organized, and waiting.
Besides, they were pretty much useless right now. What needed to happen next did not require paper to make it happen. It required decisions that were hard to make, and those were not made across polished wood and neat columns of numbers.
They were made when the last card fell and everything needed to happen at the same time.
Letting out a long sigh, he closed his home office door behind him and went to go look for the only thing in this world that could take the weight off his shoulders.
He found her in the living room.
