The army of elites was ruthless.
The mages amongst them spared no mana, unleashing barrages of spells and completely disregarding their fellow army soldiers. But even then, the elite knights amongst them were unaffected.
Upon closer look, the mages had a tube connected under their robes. The blue color revealed that it was mana liquid.
Walking through the path made by the elite army, Incus summoned her hero swords one by one.
The demon general flying in the sky descended downward.
"Check status, all," Incus said, staring at the general.

Extending his hand, Dragonborn took the blood of the dead and gave it to the demons who were still alive, strengthening their stats to at least double.
Appearing right in front of Incus, he walked behind her and whispered the following:
"You must be the hero. I won't forgive you for killing my wife."
Shocked by his immense speed, Incus gripped her sword and sighed.
"I suppose you mean Rechine. Don't worry, I'll slay you with the same blade that I took from her."
"Get away, you foul demon!" Steinen swung his great sword.
Summoning the [Dragon Spine Bo-Staff] from blood, the Dragonborn stopped the attack.
"You must be her lover. I wonder what would happen if I killed you."
Grabbing the [Earth Hero's Sword], Incus struck the ground, summoning pillars of earth that crushed the demon general Dragonborn.
Summoning the [Dragon Horn Axe] and [Dragon Tooth Sword], he shattered the pillars.
"Do you know what they call me in the rift? They call me the weapon master." Swiping up his sword, Dragonborn had cut through the crimson sky.

Cutting through the crimson sky? He was strong enough to break the atmosphere with the aftershock of his slash. What an absolute monster.
Pulling a mana potion from Alleus' pouch, I took off the cork and plugged it with my thumb.
"Hey, that's mine!"
"Sorry, I finished all of mine."
The elites were being subtly pushed back by the demons with newfound strength.
"Demon mages about five lengths away from us and slowly approaching," Lieur warned.
Slowly, the elite mages became more frugal with how they cast their spells. It seemed they were running low on mana liquid. The knights were absorbing more and more damage.
"They've breached the army," Lieur said, holding a throwing dagger.
Soon, an influx of demons with leaner figures arrived, their veins pulsing heavily.
With a single sword slash, Index killed one. Although Index could kill them with ease, this was only the beginning. Soon there would be many more.
"Just survive until Incus' battle against the demon general is over. Don't do anything reckless."
Glancing at Incus and Steinen fighting the demon general Dragonborn, their battle was powerful. Hundreds of icicle swords flew through the air, pillars of earth changed the terrain, fire scorched the wind, and chains of shadows shot at Dragonborn.
Insane. Was this what Incus looked like when she didn't hold back?
"Ahhh!" screamed an elite soldier.
More and more of the army dwindled, and they began to step back. Because of this, the demons' attention turned to us.
Jumping on Index, they piled on top of him. But they were quickly eviscerated.
"Ring, a demon is approaching from your front. Alleus, three demons are headed for us from your direction." Lieur stepped a little closer to Index.
"Alleus, switch places with me."
Spinning toward each other's spots, I swung the Fire Hero's Sword.
"ExcaliBurn!" An arc of fire shot at the three approaching demons, and I drank the mana potion in my hand.
With melting skin, they continued their march.
Getting into a fighting stance, I stabbed one of them in the chest, but I couldn't pull the sword out. Blocking a punch, I got slammed into the ground.
"Guh!"
These guys were insanely strong, and I wasn't sure if the Dragon Scales Armor would strengthen me again. But it didn't hurt to try. Rolling, I stood up and jumped onto the demon that had my sword stuck in its chest.
"Scales, strengthen me!" Wrapping itself around my muscles, I felt a surge of strength.
Yes, it worked!
Pulling out my sword, I swung at the demon's neck, putting a lot more force into the strike because of the demon's enhanced strength.

The two remaining demons grabbed weapons from the ground and swung wildly at me. I could barely see the attacks, but the dragon scales improved not only my strength but also my agility. Anticipation was enough for me to stand toe to toe with them.
I needed to make use of this ability to its fullest extent before I reached the time limit. I only had a very short window.
Parrying the two demons simultaneously, Lieur said something that made my skin crawl.
"The demon mages are here!"
"I'll get to it." Index ran toward them and began to decrease their numbers.
There were still a lot of demons, and fire was heading toward us.
Pushing the demons back, I summoned my unique skill:
"Kraken!" Absorbing the attack of fire, I grabbed the white octopus blob and released the spell at the demons in front of me.
—Gaah!
Melting their weapons, they began flailing in pain as they burned. The smell of their flesh cooking filled me with disgust.
"Give the cutie to me!" Lieur extended a hand.
Huh? Cutie? Oh, she must mean Kraken.
"Only two uses of its ability left!" I threw the blob at her.
Immediately, she absorbed lightning struck from the sky and shot it at a demon that jumped at her.
Glancing at Index in the distance, he was slaying demons left and right.

"You're steering me away from the kingdom. What would you do if I killed the army behind you?"
Dragonborn stabbed the [Dragon Nail Spear] through both of Incus' forearms and stomped her down to the ground. Slapping a great sword to the side, he used the [Dragon Horn Axe] to shatter Steinen's shoulders.
Peeling off a scale from his body, Dragonborn shaped it into a cubic prison, restricting their movements.
Glancing at the army battling his underlings, he took the [Dragon Tooth Sword] and began to slaughter them.

Widening my eyes, I pointed my Fire Hero's Sword at the demon general in his crimson silk cloak.
"Everyone, prepare for battle! One mistake and you die!"
