Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14

CHAPTER 14, THE POWER BECOMES HIS OWN

The room hadn't fully recovered from what had just happened.

Even though the pressure was gone… the feeling remained.

Heavy. Lingering. Unsettling.

Jay's fingers twitched again.

A small movement—

But enough.

Mr. Arvind noticed immediately.

"He's waking up," he said quietly.

The two men standing nearby straightened at once, their bodies tensing instinctively. Their eyes stayed locked on Jay, as if expecting something unpredictable at any moment.

The air felt still.

Too still.

As if even time itself was waiting.

Jay's eyelids slowly lifted.

At first—

Everything was blurred.

Shapes without meaning.

Light without clarity.

His breathing was heavy, uneven, like he had just surfaced from deep water after being held under for too long.

The ceiling above him slowly came into focus.

Then the walls.

Then—

Faces.

Three figures standing over him.

Watching.

Jay frowned slightly and tried to move.

Pain shot faintly through his body.

Not sharp—but deep.

Like exhaustion had seeped into his bones.

"Don't move," Mr. Arvind said calmly.

"You need a moment."

Jay's eyes shifted toward him.

There was tiredness in them.

But something else too.

Something quieter.

Something deeper.

"…What happened?" Jay asked, his voice low and rough.

No one answered immediately.

The two men exchanged glances.

Uncertain.

Unsure of what to say.

Mr. Arvind exhaled slowly.

"Your limit… is beginning to break."

Jay's brows furrowed.

"…Limit?"

"Yes," Arvind replied.

"The thing that was holding you back… keeping you contained…"

A brief pause.

"…is weakening."

Jay pushed himself up slightly, sitting against the wall.

His head felt heavy.

A dull ache pulsed behind his eyes.

"And if it breaks completely?" he asked.

This time, his voice was steady.

Direct.

Mr. Arvind looked at him for a few seconds before answering.

"…Then you may lose yourself."

The words settled heavily in the room.

Jay didn't respond.

He just sat there.

Silent.

But inside—

Something shifted.

Lose myself…

The thought echoed in his mind.

Not loudly.

But persistently.

After some time, Jay was sent back to class.

But nothing felt the same.

Not the hallway.

Not the students.

Not even the air.

As he walked, conversations stopped.

People moved slightly out of his way.

Not obviously—

But enough for him to notice.

Fear didn't always need words.

Sometimes, distance was enough.

When Jay entered the classroom—

Everything went silent.

Instantly.

Every eye turned toward him.

No whispers.

No laughter.

Just—

Silence.

He walked toward his seat.

Slow.

Calm.

But his presence felt heavier now.

Different.

Aisha looked at him carefully.

"You okay?" she asked softly.

Jay paused for a second.

"…I don't think so."

She frowned slightly.

"What do you mean?"

Jay didn't answer.

He looked out the window instead.

Outside, everything seemed normal.

Students walking.

Trees moving slightly with the wind.

The world hadn't changed.

But he had.

And that difference…

Was growing.

Then—

The classroom door opened.

The sound was sharp.

Breaking the silence.

Everyone turned.

Three boys walked in.

The same ones.

The ones from yesterday.

Their movements were slower than before.

Not confident.

Not careless.

Their faces carried bruises.

Bandages.

Proof of what had happened.

But their eyes—

Their eyes burned with anger.

Not fear.

Not anymore.

The tallest one stepped forward.

His gaze locked onto Jay.

"So… you came back," he said coldly.

Jay looked at him.

No reaction.

No expression.

"Looks like you're fine," the boy continued.

A faint smirk appeared on his face.

"But this time…"

His voice dropped.

"…you won't be."

The tension in the room snapped tight.

Aisha shifted nervously.

"Wait—" she started.

But it was too late.

The boy lunged forward.

Fast.

His fist raised—

Aimed straight at Jay's face.

But—

It never landed.

Jay's hand moved.

Without hesitation.

Without delay.

He caught the punch mid-air.

Perfectly.

Effortlessly.

The entire class froze.

The boy's eyes widened.

"…What—?"

Jay tightened his grip slightly.

The boy winced.

Pain shot through his arm.

"Let go—!"

Jay's expression remained calm.

Too calm.

"I don't want to fight," he said quietly.

His voice wasn't loud.

But it carried weight.

Something heavy.

Something dangerous.

"Then don't," another boy shouted from behind.

And this time—

Three of them rushed forward together.

Jay inhaled slowly.

"…Stop."

But they didn't.

And then—

It happened again.

A faint red glow appeared in his eyes.

Slowly.

Naturally.

No sudden burst.

No shock.

This time—

It felt… accepted.

Jay released the first boy and stepped back.

His posture shifted.

Subtly.

But completely.

The air around him felt different.

Everything slowed.

Movements.

Sounds.

Reactions.

The first attack came.

Jay stepped aside.

Clean.

Precise.

The second—

He blocked it.

Effortlessly.

The third—

He pushed the attacker lightly.

But that "light" push—

Wasn't normal.

The boy flew back—

Slamming hard into the wall.

THUD!

The sound echoed through the room.

Gasps followed.

Fear returned.

Stronger than before.

Jay stood still.

Breathing steady.

Eyes glowing red.

His face—

Empty.

Unreadable.

He looked at them slowly.

One by one.

"I told you to stop."

No one moved.

No one spoke.

Even the ones who had attacked him stepped back.

Instinctively.

Because now—

They understood.

This wasn't the same Jay.

At the back of the room—

Mr. Arvind stood silently.

Watching everything.

This time—

There was no doubt in his eyes.

Only concern.

Because what he was seeing—

Was not just power.

It was progression.

Control was no longer breaking randomly.

It was emerging.

Settling.

Becoming natural.

And that—

Was far more dangerous.

Jay's red eyes flickered slightly.

Just for a moment.

Then steadied again.

The shadow inside him—

Wasn't just waking up anymore.

It was learning.

Adapting.

Becoming part of him.

And if this continued—

Then the next time something triggered him…

It wouldn't just be a reaction.

It would be a choice.

And that thought—

Was far more terrifying than anything before. 🔥👁️
