Chapter 86 - The Dawn Beyond Eternity

The night slowly gave way to morning.

One by one, the stars faded into the horizon.

The countless lanterns that had filled Heaven's sky disappeared into the distance, their lights becoming indistinguishable from the endless galaxies beyond.

The festival was over.

The music had faded.

The streets had grown quiet.

Most of Heaven was asleep.

Yet beneath the silver-leafed tree overlooking the city, two figures remained.

Neither had noticed how much time had passed.

Neither cared.

For once, time wasn't important.

Chaos Tenno sat quietly against the trunk of the ancient tree.

Beside him, Rowena rested comfortably against his shoulder.

The cool breeze moved gently through the branches above.

Golden leaves occasionally drifted downward like falling stars.

The peaceful silence felt almost sacred.

Not because of who they were.

Not because one was the Creator God and the other a legendary warrior.

But because after everything—

They had finally found a moment that belonged only to them.

For countless years, Chaos Tenno had watched the universe move forward.

He had witnessed civilizations rise and fall.

He had seen stars born and die.

He had created realities.

Protected worlds.

Guided existence itself.

Yet somehow—

This simple moment felt more precious than entire ages.

Rowena shifted slightly.

Still half asleep.

Still leaning against him.

Chaos Tenno smiled.

A small smile.

The kind nobody else ever got to see.

If Finn Zhao saw this, he'd never stop talking about it.

If Maximum saw this, he'd probably cry.

If Gray The Magpie saw this, he'd somehow turn it into a joke.

The thought made Chaos Tenno chuckle.

Rowena opened one eye.

Rowena Graves:

"What's funny?"

Chaos Tenno:

"Nothing."

Rowena:

"That's a lie."

Chaos Tenno:

"I was imagining Finn finding out."

Rowena immediately groaned.

Rowena Graves:

"Oh no."

Chaos Tenno:

"Exactly."

The image was horrifying.

Finn Zhao would absolutely make a celebration.

A very loud celebration.

A very public celebration.

Possibly involving banners.

Fireworks.

Music.

And an embarrassing speech.

Rowena covered her face.

Rowena Graves:

"We can't tell him."

Chaos Tenno:

"We absolutely have to."

Rowena:

"Why?"

Chaos Tenno:

"Because he'll find out anyway."

Rowena sighed.

Chaos Tenno had a point.

Finn somehow always found out.

Nobody knew how.

Not even Chaos Tenno.

And he literally knew everything.

The thought made both of them laugh.

The sound echoed softly across the peaceful hill.

Eventually the first rays of sunlight appeared.

A warm golden glow spread across Heaven.

The city below slowly began to wake.

Lights appeared in distant buildings.

Shopkeepers opened their doors.

Children began playing in the streets once more.

Life continued.

Peacefully.

Beautifully.

Chaos Tenno watched the sunrise in silence.

His eyes reflected the horizon.

The endless worlds beyond.

The countless futures still waiting to be written.

Rowena noticed something.

For the first time since she'd met him—

He looked completely at peace.

Not calm.

Not composed.

Not pretending.

Actually peaceful.

There was no weight behind his eyes anymore.

No loneliness.

No burden.

No endless responsibility pressing down on him.

For the first time in centuries—

He simply looked happy.

Rowena smiled.

Chaos Tenno noticed.

Chaos Tenno:

"What?"

Rowena shook her head.

Rowena Graves:

"Nothing."

Chaos Tenno:

"That's suspicious."

Rowena laughed.

Then her expression softened.

Rowena Graves:

"I was just thinking."

Chaos Tenno:

"Dangerous."

Rowena elbowed him.

Chaos Tenno laughed.

Rowena looked toward the sunrise.

Her voice became quieter.

More thoughtful.

Rowena Graves:

"You know…"

"When we first met…"

Chaos Tenno immediately groaned.

Chaos Tenno:

"Oh no."

Rowena:

"Oh yes."

She smiled mischievously.

Rowena Graves:

"You were impossible."

Chaos Tenno:

"I was not."

Rowena stared.

Chaos Tenno stared back.

Several seconds passed.

Chaos Tenno sighed.

Chaos Tenno:

"Okay, maybe a little."

Rowena laughed.

Rowena Graves:

"A little?"

"You threatened to leave every conversation."

Chaos Tenno:

"That's because everyone was annoying."

Rowena:

"You included me in that group."

Chaos Tenno:

"You were especially annoying."

Rowena looked dramatically offended.

Chaos Tenno immediately smiled.

Chaos Tenno:

"And that's one of the reasons I like you."

Rowena froze.

Chaos Tenno blinked.

Chaos Tenno:

"Did that sound smoother in my head?"

Rowena nodded.

Rowena Graves:

"Much smoother."

Chaos Tenno sighed.

Yet despite laughing—

Neither could stop smiling.

The morning continued.

Eventually they began walking again.

Not toward any destination.

Not toward any objective.

Simply walking.

Together.

The streets of Heaven were beautiful in the early morning.

Crystal pathways reflected the sunlight.

Flower gardens stretched across floating terraces.

Gentle rivers flowed through the city.

Birds sang from distant rooftops.

The entire world felt alive.

People greeted them as they passed.

Some bowed respectfully.

Others waved.

Children ran past laughing.

Nobody looked afraid.

Nobody looked worried.

Because peace had become normal.

And that was perhaps the greatest victory of all.

At one point they reached a small bridge overlooking a garden lake.

The water was perfectly still.

Mirror-like.

Reflecting the sky above.

Chaos Tenno stopped walking.

Rowena looked at him.

Chaos Tenno stared across the lake.

His expression thoughtful.

Quiet.

Rowena gently touched his arm.

Rowena Graves:

"What is it?"

Chaos Tenno remained silent for a moment.

Then he smiled.

Chaos Tenno:

"I was just thinking about how close we came to losing all of this."

The breeze moved gently across the water.

Chaos Tenno:

"There were so many moments."

"So many battles."

"So many times when it felt impossible."

His eyes drifted toward the horizon.

Chaos Tenno:

"I thought I'd spend eternity fighting."

"Protecting."

"Sacrificing."

Then he looked at her.

Chaos Tenno:

"I never imagined I'd get this."

Rowena's heart skipped.

Chaos Tenno smiled softly.

Chaos Tenno:

"A peaceful morning."

"A beautiful view."

"And you beside me."

For a moment neither spoke.

The world felt quiet again.

Not empty.

Not lonely.

Just peaceful.

Rowena stepped closer.

Their hands found each other naturally.

Effortlessly.

Rowena Graves:

"I'm glad you did."

Chaos Tenno looked at her.

Rowena smiled.

The same smile that had slowly become his favorite thing in existence.

Rowena Graves:

"Because honestly…"

She squeezed his hand.

Rowena Graves:

"I can't imagine this future without you."

The words settled gently between them.

Warm.

Honest.

Real.

Chaos Tenno felt his heart swell.

Not with divine power.

Not with cosmic authority.

Not with infinite knowledge.

Just happiness.

Pure happiness.

The Creator God.

The First Being.

The Author of Existence.

The Light of Beginning and End.

And yet—

At that moment—

Nothing in all of creation felt more important than holding Rowena's hand beneath the morning sun.

Together they stood beside the lake.

Watching the dawn spread across a peaceful universe.

Watching a future unfold before them.

A future with no wars.

No destruction.

No endless battles.

Only possibilities.

Only happiness.

Only tomorrow.

And as the sunlight illuminated the world they had saved—

Chaos Tenno realized something.

For all the wonders he had created…

For all the universes he had shaped…

For all the infinite beauty scattered across existence…

His favorite part of creation was standing right beside him.

Rowena looked up.

Chaos Tenno smiled.

And together they walked toward the future.

One peaceful day at a time.
