Chapter 13 - LAST FLOOR (2)

Twenty years had passed by. It had been a long time. Reagan had spent all that time alone in the Tower.

He had gone through thousands of danger that almost killed him. He faced many dangerous situations as he climbed from the 75th floor to the last floor. Facing an army solo, he thought he might die, but all that was considered a piece of cake when facing the monster in front of him.

The red dragon Dracena had a breath attack Reagan could not resist even with his level 100 defense that had reached its maximum.

The armor he had worn for almost thirty years, couldn't protect him. It crumbled as it met the overwhelming attack. The attack incinerated him burning away his HP until it reached 0.

The only thing that saved him was The Ring of Luck. He had got it on the 75th floor after the Tower announced him as the sole survivor. The ring restored 50% HP of the user when his/her life force reached 0. Well, it didn't have infinite uses. It was a one time use only artifact. That day he realized how terrifying his opponent was, but what he pondered was why would the Tower make a deal with monster. Was it that powerful or were they enjoying seeing him suffer. If it was the latter, then there is no way he will be their tool of amusement.

Three years had passed since he started challenging the dragon. Since every floor required at least one in - Tower year to clear, he had ten years of extra time to clear the last floor. Now only seven years remained. The only thing that had protected him for those years was a robe he had crafted using the nine tailed fox's hide. It gave him 50% resistance to fire attacks. Although this was little, combined with his defense, the resistance increased to 65%.

The Red Dragon Dracena was astonished at the human who had come again.

"You are one of a kind. Of all humans I have faced, you are the second one to have an unbreakable spirit. Tell me, what keeps you going on?"

"I promised someone that I won't die easily. Besides, if I kill you, then everything will return back to the way they were."

"I'm sorry do disappoint you, but that is impossible, human."

"Nothing is impossible. Look at that scale of yours, it's cracking. You didn't notice. All those years we have faced each other, you never took me seriously. Every time I faced you, you never blocked any of my attacks. You were so proud of your scales that you didn't notice they have started loosing their durability."

The dragon roared and Reagan charged with his sword in front.

It was an attack that the dragon considered simple, not worth of defending against.

[SWORD AURA]

An attack that coated the sword with condensed wind amplifying the attack power by five times. Combined with wind gale, the attack increased massively.

But this was not enough to handle the red dragon. He barely made a scratch when he first attacked. But after multiple slashes, the fruit of his hard work was beginning to bloom.

He slashed at the same place.

"KAAAAAA!"

The dragon roared in pain.

For the first time, the dragon's scale shattered. Blood erupted from its chest. Although the wound was not fatal, it was still a progress. The dragon took a deep breath and released it, filling the room. It was a critical strike to Reagan who was already in bad shape. His health was rapidly dropping. Reagan barely managed to avoid the breath.

"How unfortunate, human. If only you were slightly strong, maybe you might be the one to end this pathetic life of mine. You are a good person. I pity you for falling for the Tower's lies."

"Huh? Lies? What do you mean?"

The dragon didn't answer. Instead, its huge claw swung at him.

"... I will be coming back."

Reagan jumped backward and run. The red dragon didn't go after him.

Six more years had passed by.

The dragon's body was disappearing.

"You... really are amazing human. Thank you for releasing me from my nightmare."

"Speak. What did you mean when you said the Tower was lying."

"You will know once you exit the Tower. I will only advice you not to fall into despair."

The dragon did not speak anymore. Reagan stood up as it completely vanished. He looked at the rift in front of him. Joy welled in his body replacing the fatigue in his body. He had spent almost a century in the Tower and now, the nightmare was finally over. He had retained his teenager face. In the Tower, a century had passed, but on the outside world, only ten years had passed. The Tower had stopped the aging process

He stepped into the rift. Everything went dark.

On the other side, it was the management room.

Thousands of hologram panels showed various places of the Tower. They were replaying all the quests that had happened within it.

"Oh, you're here already. I thought you were going to take a rest first.

Reagan grew tense as he looked around. He saw the same leporid that had managed the tower since the beginning.

"Relax, relax. I'm not your enemy. You are too weak for me to be one."

"Why am I here and not outside the Tower?"

"Don't be in a hurry. What is waiting for you outside will shock you. I can't guarantee you sanity."

"What do you mean? I thought I already cleared all the floors."

"Yeah. You cleared them."

"Then explain."

"It will be better if you saw it with your own eyes."

With that another rift appeared.

Reagan didn't wait. He jumped straight into the rift. He had a feeling, a very terrible one.
