Sebastian leaned forward slightly, gripping the cold metal bars of the gate like they were the only thing keeping him upright.
"Amara, I'm so sorry," he choked, his voice breaking under the weight of it. "I was a fool. I let Elara get between us, I let her manipulate me…" His fingers tightened around the bars.
"Please," he whispered. "Just tell me how to make it right." For a second…Just a second..
Something flickered in her eyes. But it was gone just as quickly.
"I can fix this," Sebastian rushed, something frantic, almost desperate rising in his voice. "I'll divorce her. Right now. I'll kick her out, I'll take Seren and come back to you."
The words came fast. Too fast. Like solutions he should have thought of long ago. Amara shook her head.
"No." One word. Calm. Final.
"That won't change anything." Her voice didn't rise but it cut.
"Go home to your wife… and your child." Each word felt deliberate. Measured.
