Chapter 8 - Crimson Fairy

‎"You can't possibly perform after what happened." Luna's manager said.

‎"Well...surprise?" Luna said while smiling again.

‎The manager sighed and grumbled again. She can't possibly stop a stubborn artist from performing.

‎"Okay...fine. But don't overdo it. Signal me if you're at your limit." She gave up as the other person nodded.

‎...

‎"Are you sure you're okay, Ai-chan?" Ayumi repeated as she guided Haibara to the front row seats.

‎"Yes, I'm fine." Haibara answered and gave her a sweet, reassuring smile.

‎"Where's Amuro-san?"

‎"Ah, he went backstage to make sure Luna-san is okay." Conan answered.

‎"Oh...it's starting." Everyone looked in front, the stage was dim. A shadow stood on the center.

‎The light pointed at her, she was wearing a crimson dress, red beads carefully sewn everywhere making an illusion of dripping blood, she was standing at a crimson carpet, her Halloween themed stage made everyone admire every detail. Her red hair in a perfect bun, bold make-up with red lips seductively smiling at her audience.

‎She was no doubt the star of the night. The crimson star.

‎The music echoed all throughout the hall. Everyone fell in love with the melody, they were smiling.

‎Haibara met her eyes, it was a happy expression that made the performer's eyes become more alive.

‎But the one at the center felt a different sensation, it was...pain.

‎She continued and broke her eye contact with the girl, she glanced at the man beside the stage. The tan skinned man with blond hair.

‎Smiling at her like she's the most beautiful scenery.

‎Luna winced, she wished her face didn't give her away. But four people already caught it.

‎"Haibara...what happened inside the warehouse?" Conan asked as he noticed the slight change that happened to Luna's expression.

‎Haibara stood up, looking at the performer after realizing the same thing. "She...oh...gunshot...she must've been shot. But I thought the bullet didn't hit her. She didn't react at all. She even fought." Haibara stated.

‎The two of them didn't waste any time and went straight to backstage.

‎"What's going on?" Amuro questioned Akiyama who looked like she noticed what he did and had called someone.

‎"I-I told her not to perform, she was shot. While at the warehouse, but she didn't want to stop the event, I called the ambulance already, they'll be here." She said.

‎Amuro wanted to drag the person at the stage out of the hall, but he stopped himself. He knew that this was one of her goals. And she's the type of person who wouldn't let others get in the way of it.

‎Every note sank deeper into the hearts of the listeners, the crimson looking fairy continued with a satisfied smile.

‎Four faces bore a worried look, waiting for it to end.

‎...

‎The hall echoed with cheers and applause, the woman in red bowed as the red curtain hid her stature.

‎One...two...three.

‎She felt her eyes swirling around, losing her balance, she was sure she was about to lose consciousness.

‎A pair of hands laid on her body, one on her waist, the other was at her shoulder.

‎The blond man called her name, in her peripheral vision was the brown haired girl with the boy in glasses. Akiyama was also running, guiding a group of people with a stretcher.

‎...

‎"Ouch...", Luna groaned while touching her abdomen.

‎"Do it again and I'll make sure you won't want to be inside a hospital again." A voice said.

‎Luna glanced at the man beside her, she didn't notice him earlier. He was placing cut fruits beside her.

‎"And how would you do that?" She said, teasing him. But she regretted it as she saw his furious eyes. She raised both of her hands up and mouthed sorry to the guy.

‎"What happened after that?" She asked.

‎Amuro sighed, "the brown haired girl gave her statement, it seems more well-planned than a normal kidnapping. But you of all people would definitely know that already. A new staff member confessed. Looks like someone got him onto it, but no news from the real person behind it."

‎The woman chuckled again, "you must've worked really hard to discover the connection of the new staff. Good job!" she said and patted his head. He didn't flinch, like he knows she would do that.

‎"You're such a handful. Get hurt one more time and I'll give you a hospital myself." He said.

‎But the woman looked at him with tender eyes, "owning a hospital, huh? Well, that doesn't sound so bad."

‎As she began giggling, the man could only sigh feeling relieved that the woman in front of him looked happy and perfectly fine.
