Zuko's ship moved through the murky waters of the Earth Kingdom, propelled by the night wind. There was no respite on this journey; tension lived on the deck like one more soldier.
Iroh was sitting to one side, drinking something hot, looking at the horizon with that serenity that only he seemed capable of maintaining even on the darkest days.
Zuko, on the other hand, could not afford the calm.
His hands were resting on the railing. His knuckles were white. His breathing was irregular. The wind whipped his hair, but he didn't feel it; all his attention was fixed on the messenger kneeling behind him.
A messenger who had just arrived from the Earth Kingdom with an urgent report.
—"Repeat it," Zuko ordered, without turning his face.
The messenger swallowed.
—"R-Recent reports assure that an organization called the White Lotus has… taken control of more than forty villages, sir."
Zuko tightened his grip even more on the metal railing.
The name echoed inside him like a rock falling into a deep well.
—"And its leader?" Iroh asked, his tone soft but serious. "Who is he?"
The messenger hesitated.
—"A… a fire master, my general.
Young. Very young.
Known as Ren by the local population."
This time Zuko did turn.
His face, normally contained, trembled.
His golden eyes opened, first with surprise… and then with something more corrosive: anguish.
—"Iroh…" he whispered, his voice broken. "It's him."
The old general watched him calmly, but the worried glint in his eyes didn't go unnoticed.
—"It seems your brother is moving fast," he said, his tone soft but firm.
Zuko began pacing the deck, agitated, one hand on his forehead, the other clenched into a fist.
His thoughts were an uncontrolled whirlwind.
Ren is in the Earth Kingdom.
Ren is leading something.
Ren is being followed by entire villages.
Ren is exposing himself.
—"How could he have advanced so much without us detecting him?" Zuko spat, frustrated with himself. "They're dozens of villages! Dozens, uncle! And neither the Fire Nation nor the Earth Kingdom did anything until now…"
—"That same thing should worry you," Iroh interrupted, with gravity. "That no one has been able to interfere."
Zuko stopped.
—"What are you saying?"
Iroh looked at the sky, as if searching for answers in the moon.
—"That your brother has built something more powerful than an army:
he has built faith."
Zuko swallowed.
It was true.
People don't let themselves be manipulated this quickly… unless the manipulator is exceptional.
Unless the manipulator knows their fears, their hopes… their wounds.
Ren had always been like that.
Since he was a child.
An emotional strategist.
Zuko closed his eyes, remembering his brother's words:
"Zuko… the greatest power isn't burning cities.
It's making people want you to be the one who governs them."
—"Then Ozai already knows…" Zuko murmured.
Iroh didn't answer immediately.
He just watched him, with sadness.
—"Yes," he said at last. "And if he already knows… Ren is in real danger."
Those words fell like a hammer into Zuko's mind.
An impulse burned inside him.
The need—no, the urgency—to find him.
—"We must change course," Zuko declared, walking toward the bow. "We can't keep chasing rumors about the Avatar. Ren is acting alone… and Ozai won't let him keep expanding."
—"Zuko," Iroh stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. "Be careful.
The desperation to protect him can blind you."
Zuko gritted his teeth.
The internal struggle was visible: duty, rage, fear… all colliding in his chest.
—"I'm not desperate," he lied.
Iroh softened his gaze.
—"You are, and it's okay.
He's your brother.
But if you wish to bring down your father alongside him…
you need to think like him."
Zuko let his head fall.
The cold wind hit his face.
The sounds of the sea seemed like ancient voices repeating his failures.
Ren advances.
Ren conquers without violence.
Ren becomes indispensable.
Ren becomes loved.
And he…
He could barely control a ship.
—"Ren…" he whispered, almost in pain, "what are you becoming…?"
Iroh placed his other hand on his back.
—"Into what he was always destined to be," he said in a serene tone. "A force that will change the world.
But even the greatest forces need sincere allies."
Zuko looked up.
His eyes burned like embers.
—"Then I will find him," he declared, firm. "I will find him before my father.
I will not let Ozai touch him."
Iroh smiled, though his heart was still worried.
—"Then we will set sail for the interior of the Earth Kingdom."
The messenger swallowed.
—"W-What order should I send back, sir?"
Zuko looked at him with the coldness of a prince…
but with the determination of an older brother.
—"Tell them," he said, "that the White Lotus will not be an enemy of the Fire Nation."
Pause.
A flame danced in his eyes.
—"It will be their salvation."
The moon was high, veiled by thick clouds that seemed to drag like tired spirits. The White Lotus's coastal camp was asleep… but on its darkest frontier, where the forest became a wide, moist mouth, two figures advanced in absolute silence.
Ren. And Azula.
Both dressed in black. Both without a hint of hesitation.
Both knowing that Ozai had sent more spies.
Nothing new. Nothing surprising.
But tonight… something was different.
Azula walked behind Ren like a sharp shadow, her breathing calm, but her inner fire roaring. In her right hand, a barely perceptible blue flame flickered between her fingers, reflecting the determination in her eyes.
—"Three intruders nearby," Ren murmured without turning, his voice barely a whisper in the night.
Azula smiled. That cruel, brilliant smile that only appeared when she was about to destroy someone… or when she was with him.
—"Who takes whom?" she asked, her tone soft, almost playful, her voice tinged with a mix of amusement and lust.
Ren tilted his face slightly, his dark eyes meeting hers for a brief moment.
—"It falls to me to finish what my father started."
Azula took a step closer, her body almost brushing against Ren's, a tempting invitation.
—"And it falls to me to protect my… —she stopped, weighing her word, her voice laden with possessiveness— my Ren."
The way she said it didn't belong to a sister. It was pure devotion. Possession. A surrender as dangerous as her fire.
They found them quickly.
Three of Ozai's spies, hidden among leaves and moss, attentive to every movement of the camp. Ren raised a hand, a silent signal. Azula understood before he said anything. She moved with the speed of lightning, her blue fire tracing a perfect line through the darkness, illuminating the trees with a silent flash. The first spy fell without a scream, his body convulsing as the fire devoured his flesh. Another tried to escape, but Ren appeared behind him like a ghost, his movement so fast it was barely perceived. Nothing was heard, only the soft sound of a body collapsing, blood gushing from his slit throat.
The third one trembled, unable to run, his face pale in the moonlight. Ren approached him, his presence imposing and threatening. Azula, beside him, watched with bright eyes, her breathing accelerated by adrenaline and desire. The moon illuminated Ren's face, highlighting every hard line and sharp angle, making him seem like a god of death.
Ren didn't need to shout. Or threaten. Or even burn. He just looked at him, and the man understood that death was inevitable. Azula gently rested her hand on Ren's arm, her fingers pressing slightly, a show of possession and support.
—"It's not worth you getting dirty with this one," she whispered, her voice a dangerous purr. "Let me."
Ren nodded, and Azula, with a quick and elegant movement, finished the job. Her blue fire enveloped the spy, consuming him in an instant, leaving only ashes and the smell of burnt flesh mixing with the salty sea air.
When everything was silent again, the two advanced toward a clearing hidden among twisted trees. The night enveloped them like a curtain, the darkness barely interrupted by the moon's glow. Azula breathed with a strange tremor in her chest. It wasn't fatigue. It was something else. Something deeper and more primitive.
Ren watched her, his gaze piercing and analytical.
—"What's wrong?"
Azula approached slowly, as if afraid of breaking something by moving too fast. Her voice came out softer than expected, tinged with a vulnerability she rarely showed:
—"Ren… I don't want anyone else to touch you."
Ren raised an eyebrow, a silent question in his eyes.
—"No one?"
She shook her head, taking another step. They were a hand's breadth apart, the air between them charged with tension and desire.
—"Only I want to be by your side. Only I want to be your flame. Only I… —her golden eyes moistened slightly, reflecting the moonlight— want to be your world."
Ren looked at her for a long time, his expression unreadable. There was no innocence in that devotion. It was a deep bond, sick for anyone… but useful for him. Azula bowed her head, her breath brushing Ren's chin. Her hands trembled, not from fear, but from the emotional desire to merge with him, to be nothing without him.
—"Ren… let me show you," she whispered, her voice a desperate plea, "that I am yours."
He raised a hand and took Azula's face with unexpected softness, his fingers caressing her skin with a tenderness that contrasted with the hardness of his expression. She closed her eyes, a sigh escaping her, a sound of surrender and desire. Ren brought his forehead to hers, his lips scant centimeters from Azula's, the warmth of his breath mingling with hers.
For an instant, the world was suspended. Azula let her shoulders fall, surrendered. Completely given. And then, with a quick and fierce movement, Azula stole a kiss from Ren. Their lips met in a collision of desire and need, a battle of tongues seeking to dominate each other. Ren, at first surprised, soon took control, his kiss becoming deeper and more dominant, his lips and tongue exploring every corner of Azula's mouth. She moaned, a sound of surrender and pleasure, her body rubbing against Ren's, seeking more contact, more friction.
Azula, in her desperation, brought a hand to Ren's abdomen, her fingers slowly descending until they found the growing hardness under his pants. Ren, responding to her touch, kneaded Azula's juicy ass, his hands squeezing and exploring, feeling every curve and every plane. Azula, lost in the kiss and the caresses, began to release her juices, the wetness soaking her clothes, creating a dark stain that betrayed her arousal. Her nipples, hard and sensitive, dug into Ren's muscular abdomen, adding another layer of sensation to her already overwhelming desire.
Ren, feeling Azula's body tremble against his, deepened the kiss, his tongue exploring and dominating, while his hands continued to knead and explore Azula's ass. She, in her surrender, enjoyed her defeat, her body responding to every touch and every kiss, her desire growing with every second that passed.
Azula, with a final moan, pulled away slightly, her lips swollen and red, her eyes shining with a mix of relief and ecstasy, her inner fire exploding silently. Ren, with a satisfied smile, held her chin, forcing her to look at him, his eyes fixed on hers, a promise of more in his gaze.
—"And I will guide you," he replied, his voice low, firm, almost hypnotic.
Azula smiled, a smile that reflected her complete surrender and devotion, her body still trembling from the sensations Ren had awakened in her. That night, in that clearing darkened by the trees… Azula not only became Ren's ally. She became his flame. His weapon. His most faithful shadow. And in her mind, his woman… even though Ren was the only one capable of deciding what to do with that devotion.
