Chapter 50 - Volume 13: Faith, Fire, and Control. Chapter 1: The Landing of the Future

Dawn broke over the Earth Kingdom port like a curtain of golden light tearing through the morning mist. Seagulls circled in the humid air, letting out short cries as dockworkers began their routine among salty ropes, tea crates, fresh fish, and the constant creak of old wood beneath their feet.

Azula's ship approached slowly, majestically, casting a long shadow over the green water. The air smelled of algae, damp coal, and the breeze uphill from the mountains. The first rays of sun illuminated the ship's bow, and there, Ren—complete, united again, and radiating an unsettling calm—watched the coast as if it were an empty board waiting for its first piece.

Azula stood beside him, rigid, dominant, her breath as cold as the breeze. Behind them, the rest of the team formed a silent line: Mai, Ty Lee, Suki, Suri, and Keiko. Each, with their own thoughts, their own internal tensions… though all knew they were witnessing something greater than a simple landing.

Ren rested a hand on the wooden railing, letting the rough texture filter through his fingers.

His amber gaze shone with a mix of calculation and satisfaction.

"This is where it really begins.

Not with fire.

Not with war.

With economy."

When the ship touched the dock, the villagers and merchants froze, watching the small procession descend.

Ren was the first to set foot on the soil, and silence fell like a shroud.

It was strange.

The port was always noisy, with voices, arguments, the clash of crates.

But Ren's presence generated a kind of pressure that none of the inhabitants knew how to process.

To them, he was a young foreigner, impeccably dressed, with a gaze too intense.

To the soldiers who had seen more… he was something more akin to a noble or a master of an unknown world.

But no one could hold his gaze without lowering their eyes.

Behind him, Azula descended with the bearing of adult royalty, confident that even here, in enemy territory, no one had the right to touch her with their gaze.

The other women disembarked one by one:

Suki, with a firm posture, alert to any threat.

Ty Lee, bouncing lightly with nimble steps, observing everyone with curiosity.

Mai, indifferent, without saying a word.

Suri, eyes like blades, analyzing escape routes and potential hostiles.

Keiko, imposing without even trying, every muscle defined under her tight clothes.

The attention of the entire port was on them.

Ren advanced with a calm step, crossing the dock until he reached the old port's counting house—a building of dark wood, sloped roofs, and foggy windows. Inside, the local administrator, a man with a fine beard and trembling hands, tried to maintain his composure.

"Can I… can I help you?" he asked, swallowing.

Azula was about to open her mouth, but Ren silenced her with a soft gesture.

"Of course," he replied with a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "We are here for business. And for opportunities."*

The administrator nodded without understanding.

Ren placed both hands on the table, leaning in just enough to invade the man's personal space with impeccable elegance.

"I want to rent this premises. The entire building, and its warehouse. Starting today."

"Th-th-this…" the administrator stammered, looking at Azula (who simply raised her hand with blue fire in her palm) "...will be an honor."*

Ren nodded, satisfied.

"Perfect."

Azula turned and left the office without another word; she knew her role here. She wasn't the leader. Not in this territory. Here, Ren was the central force moving the pieces.

Suki watched from the back, admiring the precision with which Ren controlled an environment he didn't even know.

Ty Lee smiled cheerfully, not fully grasping the gravity of what was happening.

Mai, as always, looked bored.

Suri had already assessed the location's blind spots.

Keiko was ready to take down anyone who raised a finger.

And then, Ren spoke:

"From this moment on… the White Lotus Company is founded."

The administrator choked on air.

"The… com… company?"

Ren tilted his head, enjoying the confusion of others.

"Indeed. An organization dedicated to international trade, the circulation of goods, and economic reconstruction between nations. A neutral company."

Suki felt a shiver.

Azula smiled with the corner of her lips.

Suri narrowed her eyes, analyzing layers of intention.

Mai raised a single eyebrow.

Ty Lee applauded as if she'd heard a festive announcement.

Keiko crossed her arms, approving in silence.

Ren added:

"But above all… a company with roots here, in the Earth Kingdom.

Where no one expects what we are truly building."

Azula walked towards him, placing herself by his side like a golden shadow.

"And where no one can stop it."

Ren looked at each of the women who would form his first cornerstone in this silent empire.

All different.

All dangerous.

All caught in his emotional orbit.

"Welcome," he finally said, "to the birth of the future."*

The White Lotus Company had just been born.

And with it, the beginning of the most subtle and devastating conquest the Earth Kingdom would ever see:

an economic invasion woven with smiles, contracts… and Ren's invisible threads.
