Chapter 55. Winter is Here
"I am going outside!"
"Wife, it is freezing out there," Jor's exam, silky voice hissed from somewhere near the hearth, his long body sliding closer over the stone floor.
"The air will bite your skin."
"Not with this tank of a suit, it won't!" I snapped.
Before they could use their terrifyingly effective physical persuasion to drag me back to the furs, I looked across the dimly lit cave.
The area around our sleeping nest was completely shrouded in pitch-black shadows, but further out, the dying embers of the hearth fire cast a low, flickering orange glow.
It wasn't very bright, and it was far from the bed, but it was just enough for my human eyes to make out their silhouettes.
Jor's massive form was shifting near the hearth.
Normally, a standard snake beastman would be completely incapacitated by the winter, forced into a deep, heavy state of hibernation.
But Jor was a millennium old divine entity.
