Chapter 31 - Until Dawn

As the night grew deeper, Lewis no longer knew how many times he had already come.

Everything felt blurry and distant.

His body was exhausted yet the pain that had been tormenting him for days was finally starting to fade away. The sharp ache in his stomach was slowly disappearing and the constant dizziness that had made every step difficult was becoming lighter.

In its place came a comforting warmth that spread through his body, making him feel better than he had in a long time.

For several days, Lewis had suffered quietly on his own.

He endured the terrible pain in his belly without telling anyone. There were times when he became so dizzy that he could barely stand and moments when he suddenly threw up until his throat burned.

Some days were even worse, ending with blood dripping from his nose for no reason at all yet through all of it, he remained silent. He never told the servants and asked for help.

He simply endured everything by himself.
