Chapter 104: The Strange Conan World-Bubble
Volume Title: [Detective Conan: Choice of the Steins;Gate]
Prologue: Behind the chaos of time lies a gargantuan secret. Past and future engage in a desperate struggle in the name of justice, all for the sake of the only "Real World." When Gin finally finds Conan and presses a gun to his head, he utters the world's most cruel truth: "Shinichi Kudo... no, Renya Karasuma, I've finally found you!" All love and hate, conviction and obsession, are the choices of the Steins;Gate. But that is not eternal. To carry out the evil of love and truth, time is about to accelerate. The world's strongest superhero, the Demon of Light, Captain of Beika Town—Edogawa Moriarty Conan—is about to ascend to Heaven to forge the one and only Sacred Timeline.
In Mo Yu's view, the Omniscience Authority had provided a very clever, yet practical suggestion.
The Bleach world-bubbles, suffering from universal structural damage, could not shoulder the responsibility of being the "Armor." He needed to find some bubbles that were hard enough to fill the role. To put it bluntly: if the wood isn't hard enough, use steel.
Mo Yu decided to do exactly that without hesitation. Having brought twenty-six Bleach worlds into his order, he was ready to cast his gaze across the multiverse and go big. No one ever said an Old Testament God was Lawful Good. Spreading glory, illuminating worlds, and bringing everything he touched under his control—this was the duty of a competent God.
On the other hand, the "storm" in the Silver Sea had given Mo Yu much to think about. He couldn't tell yet if it was a natural or unnatural phenomenon, periodic or a freak occurrence, but the impact was clear: without that accidental collision, those twenty-six bubbles would have eventually succumbed to structural decay and vanished into the Silver Sea.
Now, regardless of their future, they still existed. That was enough. That was the meaning—not just for the worlds, but for Mo Yu. Human nature is to seek meaning; saving twenty-six worlds from silent erasure gave Mo Yu a sense of purpose in his godhood. Based on this, he planned to be even more proactive.
But the question remained: what kind of world-bubble counted as "hard" enough?
The Omniscience Authority provided an answer quickly. While refining the Ark, it had analyzed the underlying architecture and tested the strength of world barriers. With the addition of twenty-six more bubbles, its research in this area had deepened.
The hardness of a world-bubble's barrier is linked first to its Underlying Logical Structure, and second to the Completeness of its Surface Laws.
To use a crude analogy: the underlying structure is the DNA, deciding if the bubble grows into a mouse or a Pikachu. The difference is visible to the naked eye. The completeness of internal laws corresponds to muscle strength, bone density, and vitality. Even among Pikachus, a normal one using Thunderbolt is worlds apart from a "Magnetic Field Pikachu" roaring with a million horsepower of magnetic rotation.
DNA plus Laws equals Barrier Strength—the "Hardness" of the bubble.
According to the Authority's scans, the Bleach world was naturally flawed. The conflicting structures of Hell and the Chaos World meant the underlying architecture was inherently unstable. When hit by a Silver Sea "storm," it was prone to varying degrees of fracture. In terms of internal laws, since there was no other type of bubble for comparison, the Authority hadn't reached a final verdict. However, it estimated that since the bubble could produce a God-like (though flawed) being like the Soul King, its laws were fairly decent.
If personified, the Bleach world would be a tall person with decent strength but born with "osteomalacia" (soft-bone disease)—a disabled yet resilient world that breaks a bone whenever it gets bumped.
The evaluation wasn't exactly high, but using Bleach as a baseline made it easy to find a better candidate. A world with a unified, complete, and stable underlying structure combined with "cool" internal laws would have guaranteed hardness—at least better than Bleach.
But for Mo Yu, even with the criteria, he had a headache. Underlying structures require "on-site inspection." For a preliminary scan, the only metric he could use was "how cool the laws were."
Mo Yu opened his archives and searched through his years of accumulated anime data. The result wasn't a lack of candidates, but too many. He started eliminating options until a specific name caught his eye.
[Detective Conan]. A detective anime whose popularity rivaled the "Big Three" (Bleach, Naruto, One Piece). It followed Shinichi Kudo, a high school detective who was attacked by the Black Organization, fed a poison, turned into a child, and began his path as the "God of Death Elementary Student"—no, the "Famous Detective Child."
What interested Mo Yu was that while it was ostensibly a "low-magic, low-combat" world, its internal laws were unique and cool to the extreme.
The river of time was manically distorted, leading to extreme temporal disorder. Today might be May 3rd, tomorrow might jump to December 8th, and the day after to March 6th. Conan had been in elementary school for half a year, yet had experienced countless Valentines, Christmases, and full cycles of seasons. Even more absurdly, despite this distortion, the world's technology kept progressing. Conan went from the era of Nokia brick phones to the age of smartphones in that same "half-year."
Based on this, Mo Yu felt the Conan world-bubble might have potential. However, he couldn't reach a final conclusion until he found it; as far as he knew, the water behind the Conan world ran deep. The "low-magic" surface might hide a fantasy world where gods, demons, aliens, and underground dwellers ran rampant.
Checking on the Bleach worlds, he saw the meeting was still ongoing and wouldn't finish for days. The restructuring of twenty-six worlds would take eons. He immediately decided to activate Heaven's scanning mechanism.
Under Mo Yu's will, Heaven erupted with holy light, which converged into a beam and shot into the distance! The Super-Ark vibrated slightly, sailing in the direction indicated by the light.
Currently, the Super-Ark relied solely on World 0 as its engine. Without Heaven in "Rocket Mode," the speed was "subtle." Mo Yu mentally bumped the "Engine Modification" project up in priority for the 26-world renovation.
He didn't wait. With a drag of his mouse, the screen followed the holy light forward. Like before, the Old Testament God was going to scout ahead.
Compared to the swift search for Bleach, locating the Detective Conan bubble took some time. Mo Yu didn't mind. He opened Bilibili and checked the stats for the three parts of the first episode of Strongest Academy Security. The data was unexpectedly good, with a crowd of people begging for Episode 2. He checked the backend and saw a decent payout from the video views—a good start.
As long as there was revenue, it proved his idea was feasible. Once the Bleach worlds were fully converted into Heaven Media's filming dojo, production capacity would explode. He could pick any background faces in the Gotei 13 or Karakura, issue a divine oracle for a theme (or let them pick), and have them prepare scripts and music. Mo Yu just needed the infant angels to record it and upload it to the 3D world. He would be making money just by being a "porter" of multiversal content!
However, seeing the demands on Bilibili, Mo Yu felt he should find time to edit Episode 2 soon. This required care; he had to consider the 3D audience's interference with the bubble, and his "Pal-u" (Pal-laborer) assistants—the infant angels—were currently busy with the 26-world project.
He posted an update on Bilibili: Episode 2 coming soon, stay tuned. It caused quite a stir.
Finally, the scan for the Conan world-bubble was complete. Mo Yu switched the screen. What appeared was a somewhat strange bubble. It wasn't spherical, but rather a slightly distorted, elongated shape. What concerned Mo Yu more was its color: it had a dull, obscure, and gloomy tone that felt uncomfortable to look at.
Mo Yu was puzzled but pressed his intuition down. He cast his vision and will into the bubble.
A mysterious resistance pushed back against him through the link. Mo Yu felt a surge of joy. This resistance and rejection were far stronger than what he'd felt with Bleach. It proved his choice was right: the Conan bubble's barrier strength was indeed superior.
However, when his will and sight pierced the barrier and landed inside the world, he froze!
Boundless crimson light filled heaven and earth!
The moment Mo Yu's will perceived this crimson light, the light seemed to see him back. It naturally converged toward his will, draping it in a robe of blood—layer upon layer, the crimson growing denser until it turned into absolute black...
