Chapter 99: Movie Series — The Changing of Eras
As the plot of the Heavenly Screen movie reached this point, strange reactions began to ripple across many world bubbles.
Through the screening, the "World Consciousnesses" of various world bubbles—differing in manifestation and form—all exhibited obvious reactions and fluctuations. If those reactions were translated into speech, they would roughly say:
"Potent enough! Stimulating enough! HURRY UP!!!"
This was not without reason. As the Child of the World, Ichigo Kurosaki's existence was naturally the focus of "attention" from the world itself. However, this wasn't Aizen-style stalking or surveillance; it was a more metaphysical, macro-level focus.
For example, in a world bubble where the Soul King had descended to complete His mission but the world consciousness hadn't fully receded—leaving a Soul King with a chaotic but directional awareness—Ichigo's birth and existence were guided by a hidden interference. The specific form of this guidance was to ensure that: [A Kurosaki Ichigo with potential is born], [Events occur to liberate his potential], and [Ichigo reaches the Royal Palace to fulfill his mission].
That is true world focus: ensuring the necessity of key points while being flexible with the details.
To use a crude analogy: it's like a bacterial imbalance in the gut. You take a pill, and the world only cares that the illness is cured after the pill is swallowed; it doesn't micro-manage how every molecule of the medicine interacts with the flora.
This mode of focus has benefits: for a world that only seeks the "fittest solution," it saves effort. But there are downsides: the "effectiveness" of the Protagonist-Medicine named Ichigo Kurosaki can vary. In some worlds, by the grand finale, the "efficacy" might only be at 50%. It solves the problem it was meant for, but not necessarily "well."
But the Purity Tyrant Ichigo Kurosaki shown on the screen? The mortals might not fully grasp it yet, but in the eyes of worlds that each possessed a "Kurosaki-brand pill," they saw it clearly.
This wasn't just a matter of efficacy percentage; it was the "advertisement sample" sent by a pharmaceutical giant. The efficacy started at 300% and soared—it was a Panacea. One pill could grow flesh on bones and raise the dead. Even if you weren't sick, one pill would turn you into Captain America—scrawny one second, oil-slicked muscles and twelve-pack abs the next!
Facing such a "Potent Kurosaki-Brand Protagonist Medicine," which world-consciousness wouldn't give a thumbs-up and drool with happiness?
Especially in a certain world where Hell had already swallowed the Three Worlds, the world barriers had manically swung open even before the movie finished, welcoming a certain God (Mo Yu) to come supervise. Just bringing that "Potent Kurosaki Pill" as a gift was enough—or even without it, since that world had a "pill" in its stomach it was currently struggling to digest, having God come over to teach it how to digest better was a wonderful prospect.
One could say that by using the movie for a multiversal "Potent Kurosaki Pill Trade Show" diplomatic offensive, Mo Yu had gained high approval across twenty-six worlds. In worlds where he already held supreme power, his authority flowed smoother; in those he hadn't yet conquered, the instinctive rejection weakened. Some extreme worlds, like the Hell world, even sent direct invitations for a visit!
Truthfully, the results exceeded Mo Yu's expectations. The Omniscience Authority in his head—now wearing a tailored suit—continued to hold meetings with its avatars based on these world-bubble expressions, eventually deciphering a deeper secret.
These bubbles harbored wariness and fear toward Mo Yu, not just because he caused the Silver Sea collision, but because of a specific plot point in the movie: foreign information entering a bubble to rewrite its internal data—the Purity system. That was a "Supreme Horror" capable of shaking the foundation of a world or erasing its existence.
But because the movie showed Mo Yu using this power for Good and Order rather than Evil and Destruction, that fear turned toward acceptance. When God arrives with an olive branch in one hand and a blade in the other, and the world realizes its immunity system can't resist, the "Potent Kurosaki Pill" becomes the weight that tips the scales.
(Survival) through adaptation.
Mo Yu tossed the strange sensory images out of his head. Still, this insight was a form of growth. He sensed his "Old Testament God" status was naturally higher than these bubbles. He could locate them in the Silver Sea, ignore a degree of world-suppression to interfere, and input external data. These were all functions of His status.
Question: Aside from sitting atop Heaven like a giant lightbulb, what did the previous God do in the Silver Sea?
Mo Yu instinctively imagined a radiant tentacle-monster heroically raising a Holy Chalice to chug "Holy Light-brand" moonshine, then grabbing a few bubbles to chew on like beef jerky, shouting "Satisfying!" while urging Gabriel and Michael to bring the next course faster.
He didn't mean to disparage his predecessor, but the style of the Old Testament God was clearly written in the classics—not to mention the "unique" designs of the angels. It was hard to have "normal" mental images.
Regardless, the movie continued!
After defeating Kenpachi, Ichigo strolled through the Seireitei with his hands in his pockets. No Reaper dared cross him. He wandered about as Orihime followed, taking photos and "checking in" like a couple on vacation. The only interruption was a confused Momo Hinamori, whom Ichigo easily talked down with a few lines, establishing his bizarre "Friendship" philosophy: If you're my friend, you can only die by my fist.
This scene was eerie to some, but understandable to the Captains.
"The strongest descendant of the Shiba Clan—one of the five Founding Houses—carrying the gaze of the Soul King and possibly his mission... what's wrong with him taking a walk? Without the Old Man's word, it's a miracle we haven't gone out to greet him formally," Shunsui Kyoraku mused in his world, his lazy expression hiding eyes as clear as a mirror.
Politics is defined by numbers. Ichigo and a few friends taking a walk is a minor affair. But Ichigo leading a literal army of Martial Artists into the city? That is a political event of the highest order—especially when the Seireitei is being watched by thousands of crimson vertical pupils from the sky.
No Captain with a brain wanted to be the fuse. So some Reapers were being eaten like "small hot dogs" by muscle-giants? If things settled down later, it could be spun as a "Joint Martial Arts Training Exercise" between the Gotei 13 and the Royal Palace's grass-roots staff. Since Kenpachi had already "participated" and taken photos, there was no need for others to steal the spotlight.
If things escalated to a "purge of the King's advisors," well, the King of Soul Reapers who had ruled for a millennium hadn't spoken yet. Whether Yamamoto had actually spoken was a matter of perspective; Shunsui knew better than to say anything. Like his movie-self, he knew when to play the fool.
In the movie, Yamamoto stood indifferently atop the city he had built. The plot remained calm. Uryu Ishida, the fuse, seemed forgotten by everyone. Yamamoto ignored him; Ichigo asked about him occasionally but made no move to rescue him.
Despite the calm, the viewers felt an invisible, heavy pressure. Through the previous scenes, they understood Ichigo's Purity was unthinkable—he could use a thread of battle intent to manifest "Past Sight" and touch ancient history.
They shared Urahara's sentiment: I don't understand, but I'm deeply shocked. Purity is a miracle.
Ichigo wasn't just looking at scenery. He was observing and touching the thousand-year history of this city—the storms of the Seireitei era. And Yamamoto, looking down, was remembering those same thousand years of storms he had suppressed.
One old, one young. One atop the mountain, one walking the earth. They looked at the same city, recalled the same era, and watched each other.
The difference in their positions and attitudes was absolute. Their gazes met across the distance. There were no special effects, but the viewers felt a sharp, rigid collision of wills—a suffocating pressure. A realization dawned:
The Old Man and the Boy must fight. It is Destiny.
The movie didn't use fluff to describe what they carried or the resolve they brewed during that long gaze. Viewers lost the urge to comment, watching in silence. Though the Purity system wasn't yet universal, they all understood those "crazy" Martial Artists who would trade their lives just to see a legendary battle. To miss the end of this fight would be a tragedy.
Time skipped to seven days later: Uryu's execution.
Ichigo turned and walked toward the summit. His steps were light, yet echoed in everyone's hearts like a rolling tide of history. Yamamoto straightened his back, discarded his haori, and revealed a body covered in the scars of a powerhouse. His aura spread like a pillar of heaven.
They met. The pressure exploded through their fists! Even without blades, the "Ikkotsu" and "Sōkotsu" strikes—potent enough to "cause a flags-up"—and the terrifying combat experience showed the viewers the meaning of the Strongest Soul Reaper.
Ichigo was no less impressive. Taking one punch was enough for him to learn the secret of the "Sōkotsu" and apply it to his own Getsuga claws. It showed the world the meaning of a "Monster"—the meaning of a New Era.
"A legendary battle truly dripping with the flavor of changing eras!" Aizen noted in Hueco Mundo.
New things are often like this: growing wild, surging forward with powerful vitality to crash against the stubborn old ways. Neither is guaranteed victory; only the gamble of power decides. It was a fight between two people, yet it felt like the grand tide of a millennium protesting and roaring!
Some Arrancars were so moved they wanted to jump in and fight both at once to add their own "note" to this symphony of change. But that was just a fleeting impulse. When Yamamoto roared...
"SURPASS MY BLADE BEFORE THE SOUL SOCIETY IS DESTROYED!!!"
Zanka no Tachi was unleashed. Its world-ending heat declared the glory of the Old Era, incinerating the battle intent of any impulsive spectators. The earth turned to lava; skeletal demons crawled out at the blade's command, their grisly roars terrifying the viewers.
Yamamoto was a failure as a Soul Reaper—he enslaved the souls he killed—but he was a True God of Death, for all souls bowed to his tyrannical heat!
Ichigo responded head-on. From his majestic battle intent, infinite Fisher war-souls emerged to clash with the dead, carving a path to Yamamoto!
Facing the charging youth, Yamamoto donned the West: Zanjitsu Gokui—the 15-million-degree Cloak of the Sun!
In that instant, viewers' brains stalled.
"How the hell do you fight that!?"
Among those asking the question was every Yhwach across the multiverse.
