Chapter 80 - Remnants Of An Era Gone By...

Awoo!

Kreek!

Seeing the horde charging at them, the group surprisingly did not lose their composure. "Magicians, aim your most destructive spells at them. Archers, cover them when they're replenishing their mana. Rangers and Warriors, kill all those who dare come close to our saviours..."

Her one eye twinkling with madness, Vanessa Rydford aimed her cutlass (she always dreamed of being a pirate, but the Demons made it impossible for her to venture forth at sea, so she had to settle with the next best thing, namely a cutlass...) at the Shadow Demons. Licking her glossy yet chapped lips, Vanessa tilted her tricorn before plunging headfirst into the melee with the monsters. "Ahahahah! Come at me, ya scurvy scum! Lad and lassie, go and seal the entrance back again! The horde won't stop unless we seal the doorway shut! Go now, and leave everything to me–"

"Ara~ara~, now, we can't have that, can we? I suppose now it's time for the leader to appear now, and kill ya all, right...?"

The heart-palpitating aura that flowed out from the modern-dressed flying woman froze everyone on sight. Seeing that the situation had turned South, Vylara knew she had to do something; otherwise, everyone here would die, but the fear of her

Shit! With this bunch of low-level bozos, I can't fight with my full powers, but worst of all, Natsuki's here– if I can't handle the bloodlust well, he'll definitely know I'm part–

Shwing!

Dodging the attack, Vylara picked up the strand of hair that floated down. Recognising that it was from the selection of hair that she had just dyed a few days ago, she grew mad–

Like, really, really, mad

"Damn it, let a maiden think in peace! Fine, if you want a fight, a fight is what you'll get! Raaargh!"

Conjuring an ebony blade of wood, Vylara charged into battle, pupils turning vertical...

Natsuki watched in silent awe as the two (undoubtedly sexy) women began fighting against each other, sword slashes flying past. Their duel was so violent that some of the Demons and Adventurers, caught up in the range, were turned into ashes or minced meat, before turning into light.

"Quick question, *pant*, *pant*, how on Aeronia are you wearing jeans!? I mean, truth be told, in a Medieval world like this, the technology necessary even to build the machine for mass sifting is missing? I mean, which world have you come from...?"

"The real question here, sweetie, is what makes you think this world was Medieval in the first place?"

"Wha–"

"Shit! Vy, the gateway's damaged!"

It was only after Natsuki's frantic call came out from behind her that Vylara discovered, to her horror, that one of the sword slashes from their fight had ripped a hole in the archway.

[Emergency! Emergency! Containment has been breached!]

[Emergency protocols are now being deployed...]

What the fu–

Before she could register it, a small hole tore open on the blue film, sucking her and a few others inside alongside her...

Owww...

Shaking her head, Vylara stood up on the foreign ground. As she began taking a bearing on her surroundings, out of the corner of her eye, a familiar figure stood out. "Oh thank goodness! Natsuki, are you alriiiii..."

It was only then that Vylara registered why Natsuki stood frozen, mouth agape...

Tall skyscrapers dotted the sky, their broken, twisted figures bending down, creaking at the weight. Molten iron could be seen swinging on the faint winds that sometimes passed by, a testament to a world-ending calamity that once occurred here. Charred stumps of trees could be seen scattered about, faint flames still, oddly, flickering above. Sometimes, weird, bone-chilling howls could be heard coming from the far horizon, something which chilled the heart of young Natsuki...

"Where the fuck on Terra are we!?"
