Chapter 79 - The Journey To The End Of The World

Thwack...

Fwip...

Clank...

Cutting through the many trees that blocked their road, Natsuki and the rest slowly but surely cleared the path before them. Though they were hampered by the myriad shadow monsters and beasts strewn along the road, before a Tier-6 Law Enabler (well, now a Tier-5 Inner Sanctifier due to power suppression by this weird world), they were nothing but pieces of moving meat, quickly sent to the chopping block. "Ekh! What is with these weird monsters? I mean, at least in video games, they gave something, like experience or maybe monster drops. But here? All they give me are ashes that take weeks to clean up- I mean, it's all like as if this is one gigantic holographic simulation!"

Dusting the remaining ashes from the insides of her boots, Vylara couldn't help but bemoan their situation. Damn it, why did the old man take Scaramond, and not me? Now I have to be the one taking care of the youngling, and by the looks of things, he's still in his chuunibyou phase, as they call it back at his home. Lucky bastard, he didn't have to deal with forbidden spells every day...

Sensing her rage beginning to overflow, Vylara knew that her emotions were getting out of control.

Slap!

Dammit, snap out of it- he wasn't there when you were being chased by those hedonistic archmages, and neither was he responsible for killing mom and dad!

"Uh, my lords, we have arrived..."

A large, metallic archway stood before them, its interlocking parts pulsating, straining at the burden they bore. Faint cracklings of lightning could be seen pulsating from the gaps, illuminating the surroundings a pale blue. Beneath it lay a gigantic building, from which giant pylons could be seen extending to the archway, conveying power to the 'gate'. "Whew! For a medieval-esque world, there certainly seem to be elements of futurismo present. Now, the question here is, why on Aeronia is there a fuckingpower plant in a medieval world? Last I checked, there ain't seems to be anything here that could generate electricity, and converting magic to electricity requires calculations that shouldn't be possible until at least 3000 years into the future- so why is it that-"

"Ma'am, we have arrived at The End Of The World, and beyond the great seal lies the Demon world, cut and banished from the present world 1000 years ago. We have recently gotten reports that there have been sightings of increased Demon activity coming from this region, and they were of variants never seen before. What's more alarming is that we have stopped receiving reports from the station here, which is pressing to us, for if the Demons get their grubby hands onto the station, they will destroy the great barrier, letting in the Demons from beyond, casting us all back into the damnation of eternal night. Now, we need-"

"Hold it, hold it, HOLD IT! So, you're telling me, that in some dump of a place, you people had managed to figure out how to create transdimensional subspace pockets using technology, and had been maintaining it for 1000 years! Don't you know how absurd it sounds!? I mean, how do you even get readings from it? What, stand in the middle of a circle and pray for the data to just, y'know, pop out!? What kind of fuck up is this world-"

Awooo!

Kkrrrgghhh!

Yip! Yip! Yip!

"Kyahahahahah! Thank you so much, blubbering fools. Today, I, the great Elinare, will set free our banished brethren! As thanks, I shall grant you all swift and painless deaths! Though the Hero, though, mhmm, he can stay..."

Licking her lips, Elinare leapt down from the tree, launching the horde of resting Shadow Demons upon them...
