Chapter 173 - Chapter 173

After Yoshio returned to the base and received first aid from the best iryonin, he turned to one of his trusted men.

""Go to Kusagakure and find Zosui. Have him lend me his red-haired whore for a few days; I won't leave him in debt. "

""Yes, Yoshio-san. " the middle-aged man replied curtly and quickly set off, intending to carry out his boss's errand as soon as possible, because the health of the strongest warrior was of paramount importance to any organization.

Having given a few more orders, including a thorough investigation of the battle site, Matsuda Yoshio fell into a deep sleep, because even the toughest Jonin body couldn't ignore such wounds.

In eight hours of deep sleep, Yoshio's body partially recovered. Soft tissues fully regenerated, and broken bones partially mended, retaining some fragility. Getting out of bed, he first took an ice-cold shower and ate several kilograms of fried meat in one sitting, because chakra alone was still not enough for full body recovery.

""Not bad how that little Chunin roughed you up. " laughed a short middle-aged man with a bit of gray in his thick beard.

""It wasn't him, but his damned fuin balls. Don't mock me, Daisuke. If you were in my place, that brat would have taken you with him. " Yoshio replied in a serious tone to his friend's barbed remark.

""In your place, I'd have instantly killed their entire squad instead of putting on a show. I've said before, vanity will be your downfall. Do you even know who you've started a feud with over a useless piece of shit named Hide? I do. " Daisuke said calmly, pulling a hand-rolled cigarette from his breast pocket and lighting it leisurely.

""This Nakayama Family appeared out of nowhere and has at least a few Jonin in its ranks. It's not impossible that there's a figure behind the scenes who's beyond us. I don't think the death of a brat matters, but a demonstrative slap in the face could be seen as a declaration of war. "

""How was I supposed to know about such an organization in the Land of Fire? That bastard Hide swore there wasn't even a Jonin among them! " Yoshio exclaimed discontentedly.

""Did you really listen to a little lying rogue ninja? Looks like age is catching up..." Daisuke sighed and laughed.

Yoshio couldn't admit that he had made a hasty decision based on a feeling of absolute impunity, so he simply stayed silent.

""Whatever. The Nakayama Family is in the Land of Fire, and we're here. They won't dare come to us, and if they do..." he said, and suddenly shuddered from a premonition literally screaming of impending mortal danger.

Positioned seven kilometers above the Green Palm base, Kenshin shot downward to unleash all his accumulated rage on the enemies. He perfectly understood that the element of surprise was his only advantage in a fight with such an enemy and intended to use it to the maximum.

At five kilometers altitude, he began hurling bombs one after another lightning-fast, imparting enormous momentum to them, accelerating to five hundred meters per second. First, two of the largest bombs flew down: one to the base center, the other a few seconds later, slightly south, to the spot where the enemy would most likely retreat in the first seconds.

Kenshin had long planned every detail of the plan, and even in the air, he tried not to miss anything, accelerating his perception to a record 200 times. His brain worked at the limit of its capabilities, with a serious risk of hemorrhage, but Kenshin didn't care. All he wanted at that moment was to stage a grand massacre and avenge his son.

He wasn't at all concerned that several hundred people were on the entire Green Palm territory, including servants, prostitutes, and rare family members of these mercenaries. He didn't wish death on innocents, but even more, he didn't wish death on his own sons, who would inevitably die if their father was indecisive and engaged in direct confrontation with three Jonin.

Only when he crossed the two-kilometer mark above the ground did they finally notice Kenshin, and two figures burst out of the main building. Four seconds later, the most powerful explosion from the first two bombs thundered. And although Kenshin's calculations were slightly off, one of the large bombs exploded thirty meters from Yoshio and Daisuke, who survived only thanks to their incredible mastery of Water Release and Earth Release techniques.

The barrier of the strongest stone was swept away in a fraction of a second, and thick ice defense came into play. Yoshio remembered well how dangerous it was to shield with water, so he protected himself with ice. Unfortunately, these barriers weren't enough against such an explosion, and the two very strong Jonin were sent flying.

Several partially mended bones in Yoshio broke again, and Daisuke suffered a serious left arm injury. One of the perfectly sharpened stakes pierced just below his elbow, nearly tearing off the arm and destroying all bones and ligaments in its path.

Kenshin couldn't immediately dive down and finish what he started, even if he desperately wanted to. With burning rage, he watched Yoshio's body thrown hundreds of meters away and barely restrained himself from diving and plunging his blade into his heart.

The cause was the still-exploding bombs and metal stakes flying at enormous speed, which could instantly end his fragile life, so he stayed at several hundred meters altitude, waiting for a chance to attack, coldly watching dozens of people die.

The deaths of a huge number of chakra-wielding men were balm to his soul, but the deaths of fifteen women, many torn apart, added new scars to his heart.

He barely restrained a powerful surge of emotions when he saw the deaths of three children. Two were peacefully sleeping in their beds, noticing nothing, and one died during feeding by his mother. A large metal rod pierced her back through and tore out part of the infant's skull. The stunned woman didn't even realize what happened and stared at her dead child for a few seconds, then was buried under the rubble of the collapsed house.

"Is there no other way?.. Do foreign children have to die for your own to stay alive and well?.." Kenshin pondered with immense sadness, hovering high in the air. He felt utterly disgusted by the situation, but even so, he would conduct this attack again just to not send his sons to be torn apart by three Jonin.

And yet, realizing that one of the Jonin was killed couldn't help but please him. He clearly saw how a man with the most powerful chakra first lost a leg from a large bomb explosion, then couldn't avoid a dozen chaotically flying stakes from smaller bombs, one of which pierced his head and grazed the brain. Even with such wounds, the Jonin was alive for a while, but subsequent explosions left him no chance.
