On the 99th day, Third and Fourth finally matured, and Kenshin immediately involved them in training, just as he had done with Ichiro and Keiji. He taught them the proper stance and punch, deciding to wait a few days before chakra training.
Over the next few days, he sparred with his sons several times and noted that even with their poor technique, he could barely win half the spars against them. His assumption about base physical stats boosted by a percentage equal to the "Talented Offspring" skill percentage was fully confirmed. Third and Fourth were at least 20% faster and stronger than a normal human, easily holding their own against their father thanks to their immense strength and speed.
Ichiro spent the entire 102nd day teaching his brothers chakra. By evening, both brothers had awakened their chakra, and Kenshin hurried to check their "status."
Name: Third
Age: 20 years
Talent Level: 21
Chakra Quality: 2
Chakra Amount: 3000
Chakra Control: 31%
Name: Fourth
Age: 20 years
Talent Level: 19
Chakra Quality: 2
Chakra Amount: 3300
Chakra Control: 30%
"Hm, both have chakra quality like Ichiro's, and overall stats are plus or minus the same. Third has slightly higher control, but Fourth has a full ten percent more chakra..." Kenshin noted, then decided to check Ichiro's "status."
Name: Nakayama Ichiro
Age: 20 years
Talent Level: 16
Chakra Quality: 2
Chakra Amount: 3250
Chakra Control: 49%
"Congratulations, Ichiro. Your chakra control has grown a bit again," Kenshin praised, clapping him on the shoulder.
"Thanks, Father. I feel something inexplicable tied to chakra, and I think my chakra quality will soon reach the next level!" Ichiro declared.
"Good job! Train hard to become the strongest shinobi in this world!" Kenshin stated solemnly, mostly to impress the younger sons and ignite in them a fire of ambition.
"Yes!" Ichiro said.
"You two, train hard too, to stand shoulder to shoulder with your big brother," Kenshin said, encouraging the two youngest.
"Yes, Father!" Third and Fourth replied in unison.
On the 104th day, Aiya and Natsumi gave birth simultaneously. Having given birth before, they handled this "force majeure" easily, and that night Natsumi went to another bedroom with the baby.
Kenshin named Natsumi's son Fifth and Aiya's son Sixth. Both babies had identical talent stats of 20. Kenshin sadly noted no new level was granted, but he didn't despair, deciding the next level would come after conceiving more children.
On the 105th day, Kenshin took his three sons and headed to the city to sell the first successful harvest of rare flowers, buy household goods, and new seeds for crop experiments. He desperately wanted seeds of "blue sage," from which decoctions improving chakra development could be made, but previous city visits found none in stock. All "blue sage" was bought up by numerous shinobi teams.
Arriving in the city by noon, Kenshin and his three sons went to the market's herb row. After half an hour of haggling, Kenshin sold his first flower harvest for 7000 ryō, but his joy at the good money was overshadowed by news that blue sage had again sold out as soon as it appeared.
The seller, a woman of about forty-five, seeing Kenshin's sadness, wanted to help and secretly shared confidential info on where to get blue sage or its seeds. Of the three villages named, the closest was Shinto village, where Aiya once lived.
Bidding the seller farewell, Kenshin and his sons went for the rest of the purchases, pondering whether to go to Shinto village. Deciding that fatty Kaito and his friends posed no threat to three decent fighters plus a Genin-level one, Kenshin headed there anyway.
By five p.m., the group of four reached the village edge, and Kenshin ordered them to speed up to avoid trouble. Asking the first passerby for the flower shop's location, they hurried there and entered the house.
But to Kenshin's misfortune, luck wasn't on his side that day. The procession of four sturdy guys was spotted by none other than Kaito, sitting on the first floor of a wine shop and seeing Kenshin through the window. He recognized him instantly, his slight intoxication vanishing. He jumped up, peeked out the door, tracking where the four went. Seeing them enter the flower shop at the street's end, Kaito bolted from the wine shop, running to his grandfather's house—the village elder.
Panting minutes later, Kaito burst into his grandfather's small office, eyes lighting up.
"Kaito! Why no knock?!" the old man barked.
"Not now, Grandpa. Iori-san, good you're here too! Quick, I need your help! Remember the enemy village spy or rogue ninja I told you about? He's in our village now! And not alone—with three others! Come on, Iori-san, while we sit here, they could slaughter half the village!" Kaito blurted despite his ragged breath.
"What?! Rogue ninja?!" the old man nearly jumped from his chair.
"Four rogue ninja? Hm, I can't handle them alone; better let them go and request Konoha aid..." Iori muttered.
"No! They're not rogue ninja—just regular people, rogue ninja underlings. I fought one; if he were a rogue, wouldn't he have killed me in one move?" Kaito blurted, mentally slapping himself for calling them rogue ninja.
"Come on, Iori-san, they're in the flower shop now—God knows what they'll do to the seller. You're the only one who can stop them!" Kaito pressed.
"Fine, lead!" Iori said resolutely, dashing out after Kaito.
