Chapter 40 - Chapter 40

Back home, all four took cool showers and collapsed into bed. Ichiro and Kenshin were physically drained, Third and Fourth mentally. Their first battle—nearly costing their father's life—left an indelible mark on their young minds. Each vowed to train harder, so next time without Ichiro, they could protect Father and be his reliable support.

Kenshin felt no remorse over killing Kaito. It was necessary—at minimum, since he was the only one knowing Kenshin by sight.

Ichiro had severely depleted his chakra reserves, needing rest. After showering, he dragged to bed and instantly slept, missing dinner.

Aiya and Natsumi were shocked, dropping everything to rush to the bedroom, grilling Kenshin on what happened. He briefly recounted the story, mentioning Kaito's death but not how.

"Main thing is you're all safe!" Aiya said. Kaito's death didn't upset her, but losing another family member terrified her, so Kenshin pulled her onto the bed and hugged her.

Natsumi took the story unfazed—she'd fought similar battles many times. She just rejoiced everyone was safe, lecturing Kenshin to stop getting into trouble.

Kenshin knew without her sermon: against even the weakest Chunin, they'd all be torn apart. Even Ichiro with one tomoe wasn't Chunin-level. Kenshin figured Ichiro needed at least two tomoe or chakra quality 3 for Chunin fights.

After an hour's rest, Kenshin and his two sons joined family dinner. Aiya didn't wake Ichiro, just stroked his hair, marveling how her baby boy had grown into a strong shinobi so fast.

Over dinner, Kenshin briefly discussed the incident with his sons, praising their bravery and urging harder training. After, all retired to rooms and soon slept.

Kenshin had planned to "impregnate" his wives that evening, but after the grueling day, he lacked energy. Plus, Fifth and Sixth were newborns needing mothers, so he postponed the vital task till tomorrow and slept.

On the next, 106th day, Kenshin planted the blue sage. He'd read the pre-bought care book for the valuable plant and knew its growth needs, so he tuned the formation and expected first harvest in about ten days.

Ichiro, not fully recovered from yesterday's depletion, devoted the day to teaching younger brothers. He sparred with them and explained concentrating chakra in feet to stick to walls or water.

Third and Fourth were gifted pupils, progressing visibly. By evening, Third held the wall half a second, mastery days away.

After dinner, Aiya and Natsumi put kids to sleep next door and fell into insatiable Kenshin's clutches. Overnight, the trio of voracious lovers made up for the pre-birth week when the girls, in late pregnancy, couldn't satisfy their man.

After the two girls wearily slept, Kenshin focused on his "status," allocating the skill point from the seventh level to "Formation Creation," raising it to fourth level, then tiredly slept.

Waking up the next morning, Kenshin discovered that he knew a bit more about formations than before. He learned ways to modify and improve old formations. Among the new knowledge, the most important in his opinion were "Animal control formation" and "Chakra suppression formation."

The Animal control formation was applied to a special collar or the animal's fur, making it absolutely obedient and somewhat controllable within the limits of the animal's available intelligence.

The Chakra suppression formation was typically applied to shackles or special cuffs and served to capture mages. Kenshin really liked this formation, but it needed adaptation for chakra. Fortunately, at his current level of knowledge, Kenshin could modify and alter available formations, and in theory create completely new and unique ones.

The thought of being unable to add strong kunoichi to his harem had long troubled Kenshin. He had no desire at all to capture strong women with his sons' help and then rape them while bound.

Inspired by the new knowledge, after breakfast Kenshin dove headfirst into rethinking it and trying to "force" the formation to perceive chakra instead of magic. Fortunately, he absolutely knew exactly which node in the formation handled that.

Over the day, he summoned Ichiro or Natsumi several times and asked them to release chakra into the right spot on the formation, then dove back into work, redrawing and erasing lines, trying to achieve some result.

The following days were copies of the previous ones. Kenshin's older sons trained, while the younger ones grew. Kenshin himself worked constantly on improving the formation and had no time for anything else. Aya and Natsumi, as usual, handled household chores and often relaxed in the swimming pool, where Kenshin occasionally peeked in, followed by several hours of reckless sex and relaxation.

On the 108th day, Fourth also learned to stick to the wall for half a second, and the two brothers kept jumping across the surfaces of the nearest mountains from home, honing their skills.

On the 109th day, after lunch, Kenshin sat as always drawing formations on the ground, but suddenly heard Ichiro's voice through the mental link: "Father, come to the gym, you have to see this!"

Kenshin immediately dropped everything and headed to the gym. Entering, he immediately saw Ichiro and Third and Fourth standing nearby. They chattered over each other:

"Father, you have to see this!" Third said, unable to contain his emotions.

"Yes, Father, look, it's incredible!" Fourth confirmed.

"What am I supposed to see?" Kenshin asked with interest, noticing nothing unusual.

"Here, Father, watch closely!" Ichiro said, and threw a shuriken at the wooden mannequin at the end of the room.

Kenshin strained his eyes, trying not to miss anything, and his mouth fell open at what he saw. The shuriken, about a meter short of the mannequin, suddenly vanished and embedded in the wooden mannequin's head.

"Holy shit! Ichiro, are you controlling that?" Kenshin asked, unable to hold back his surprise.

"Not always, but I think with training I can not only improve every shuriken throw but also increase the distance!" Ichiro said proudly.

Kenshin immediately started all sorts of tests and checks to figure out the nature of this ability and its potential. For example, it turned out this wasn't just shuriken acceleration but some kind of "teleportation." Kenshin and his two sons stretched a dozen threads 50 centimeters from the mannequin's "face," and after Ichiro's throw, the threads remained intact while the face did not.

But this ability had its downsides. For instance, Ichiro couldn't "teleport" the shuriken to a spot he couldn't see with his eyes. After Kenshin hung a long cloth in front of the mannequin, Ichiro's ability stopped working, and the shuriken flew on, tearing through the fabric.

Even with that "downside," the ability was exceptionally strong and dangerous. After Natsumi saw Ichiro's throw, she was no less shocked than Kenshin and stated that not every Chunin could dodge such a throw.
