Chapter 25 - Training Time 3

"Take a turn doing what?" Ryuu asked the curious cat as Anya did some stretches and yawned.

"A turn at training Haru, you two have both had a turn now right nyah? Well I want a turn! Nyah!" Anya said as she lightly stomped her right foot on the ground and folded her arms in front of her and puffed her nearly flat chest out.

"This isn't a game Anya… you understand that what you teach Haru could be the difference between life and death… that's a big responsibility and not something to take lightly..." Ryuu said as noted that with the rising they did not have too much time left to be training before the waitresses would need to start their work for the day if they didn't want to be behind all day.

"I know that Ryuuuuu, just this one time please! Nyah," the brown haired and eyed Cat Person said as though she was but a child begging for some wooden toy that they had seen in the marketplace and just had to own.

Ryuu sighed as she shook her head slightly, her entire plan for Haru's morning training had already gone out the window once the black haired Cat Person had joined so she just decided to try and not argue to save herself the headache of having to hear the brown haired cat whine and moan about how Chloe got a turn and she did not get to have a chance. "Fine, you have ten minutes…" Ryuu said softly as she walked over and sat down on the bench and Chloe joined her a second later.

"Yes! Thank meow Ryuu! Nyah." the waitress said as she happily jumped for joy as her tail and ears were twitching and moving around erratically.

"Ten minutes." Ryuu reminded the Cat Person from her seat on the bench and that seemed to snap the waitress out of her tiny celebration as she went straight to work retrieving what she would need.

While Ryuu sat upright and kept an appropriate posture the Cat Person sitting a few feet away sat back, kicked her feet out and crossed her right ankle over her left and placed her hands behind her head and interlocked her fingers.

Anya took off in a small light jog and whipped the door open to the kitchen and ran inside the building coming back outside with the shaft of a broom that she had accidentally broken a number of weeks prior and had kept hidden behind some crates in the food closet. She stood in front of Haru and tilted her head back, she pounded the tip of the broken handle that stood nearly as tall as her against the ground and formed a small smile.

"Alright listen up meow! One of the most important things I can teach meow is… hmm… how to word it…" the Cat Person stopped for a moment as she placed an index finger on her chin, tilted her head back even farther and looked up into the sky and tried to put her little lesson into words. After a minute passed and she was unable to come up with the right words she resorted to trying to use more wild hand gestures to try and prove her point. Though that too did not seem to help out Haru much to try and understand what exactly she was trying to get across to him.

With her failure to use her words the frustrated Cat Person threw her arms up in the air and just announced that she would have to do a physical demonstration instead as she was still unable to get her message through, so she crouched down slightly and took a fighting stance. Her left foot out in front and her left hand closer to the tip of the broken broom handle that was closer to Haru while her opposite hand was next to her side.

Haru pushed forward and attacked the Cat Person when he was ordered too and continued his assault for several minutes to no real effect, he circled around the waitress several times and tried a few of the tricks that had worked rather well on the monsters on the first floor of the dungeon. He threw in the occasional kick and knee to try and throw the Cat Person off though no matter what he did his attacks could not get past her defence and the broom she spun around in her hands while she stood pretty much in the same place.

The black haired Cat Person and the blonde haired Elf sat on the bench together and watched the fight for several minutes until they were joined by another one of the waitresses of the pub, who was already dressed in their Hostess of Fertility uniform for the day. "You are letting that silly cat train the boy?" Lunoire asked calmly as she walked and waved the two a small morning wave to greet the two. Chloe simply responded by returning the wave with a small head bob and Ryuu responded with a small wave of her own.

"Yes, she wanted to and so I thought for just a few minutes it really wouldn't hurt…" Ryuu said as she directed her eyes back to the fight in front of them, as it had been a rather drawn out fight by now Haru's movements were becoming slower and he was getting hit by the broom more than he had previously as the brown haired Cat Person did some small counter attacks of her own for Haru to try and dodge.

"She seems to be doing alright… don't really see any lesson though… silly cat couldn't even string her words together right." Chloe said as she rolled her eyes slightly at Anya's less than impressive communication skills, the former assassin could recall several times where Anya's poor speech had ended up resulting in wrong orders for customers during dinner service. Though most of the time the patrons just thought it to be a silly mistake and a rather cute one at that so the food was rarely ever sent back to the kitchen.

That was one of the few things that really set the Dwarven owner of the pub off, is when someone sent back the food to the kitchen. Though she welcomed fair critiques and listened to the customers most of the time she was not one of the people to believe in the old age saying "The customer is always right'". She had on a few occasions "fired" customers that had given some unfair and straight out wrong reviews of her food and they had been banned, or not shown up again to the Hostess after those little disputes.

"I see it…" Lunoire said calmly as she leaned up against the side of the table and folded her arms across her chest.

"Wait, meow means there is actually some lesson in that silly cat's little squabble that you can make out?" Chloe plainly flat out asked the former assassin that had previously been her competition that was now her coworker.

"Yes, I can see it too actually…not a bad lesson in there honestly…" the Elf commented and the Cat Person sitting beside her spun her neck around to look at the Elven waitress quickly.

"Meow see it too? What is it… just a normal fight to my eyes" Chloe said as she directed her attention back towards the two figures that were still entangled in combat, while it was clear for anyone of the three to see that Anya was trying to be a bit gentler then what Ryuu and Chloe had been while still being an effective teacher. Every now and then bits of her real skill and strength are shown through the restraints she tries to put over them.

The Cat Person placed the broom handle between Haru's legs at his feet in a quick thrust forward and spun her hands around which angled the wooden staff to a point where it hit the front of Haru's left lower leg and the back of his lower right leg. As a result of the action he fell to the ground and landed on his back with a hard thud, if he had been some real monster of attacker Anya would have spun the "spear" around before they had a chance to even recover and stab it downwards and bury the tip into their chest or skull. Though because the boy she was fighting was nowhere near that dangerous and was not really attacking her with any intent to actually harm her she gave the boy a few more seconds to roll out of the way.

Haru rolled to the right after he took a second to recover from being tripped, as he rolled the Cat Person he was facing off against stabbed the ground with the broom where he had previously been only moments prior. The white haired boy could hear a small chuckle that he guessed came from the other Cat Person in the courtyard and confirmed his suspicions when he looked over and saw Chloe chuckling softly in her seat. Haru at that moment also noticed that another person had joined them as Lunoire was only a few feet away from where Chloe was still chuckling. He was not aware that she had even entered the courtyard, though Anya had left the door wide open when she had returned so the fact that she had been there without his knowledge was not that big of a shock.

Haru was going to go about greeting the waitress that was already dressed for the daily work when he received a harsh slap across the face from the broom handle that would surely leave him with a bruise and sore spot given enough time to settle. While his cheek was stunning and bright red he turned his head back to Anya and she did not even need to tell him what he had done wrong he already knew that he got distracted for a moment. If it was a real fight and not just a farce he would have left himself exposed for a free hit.

"She is wearing him down…" Ryuu said calmly as she adjusted her posture slightly in her bench seat and leaned forward a tad as she continued to build off of her previous statement. "Fighting long prolonged battles is not good, in the dungeon it can be even worse with all the monsters that crawl their way out of the walls. He keeps attacking, running around in circles and moving while she is barely doing anything… she is saving a lot of energy and waiting for Mr. Fenris to get too tired to effectively fight back."

"I hate long fights.. .always such a drag and pain in the tail." Chloe said as she leaned back a little more and the bench creaked softly with her shifting weight. Chloe was not one to get into head on fights with people, quite the opposite is what she often preferred if possible. Fighting people head on was arguably the dumbest thing that a person could do, and Chloe would admit that it was definitely the more honourable thing to do, but honor did not mean anything if you ended up dead. So she preferred to use much more sneaky tactics against her opponents, the few times that she did not engage such strategies it either had been difficult and more work then it was worth or it had ended in a failure.

The fight in front of her reminded the Cat Person about her singular failure, the one failure in her career that stung her the most. She had failed jobs before, the Cat Person was quite confident that there was not a single assassin out there that had not failed at least one job in their entire careers. But the one that always stuck with her the most was her first failure after coming to the city of Orario, her failed attempt to assassinate the Captain of the Ganesha familia, Shakti Varma. Chloe could still remember the fight as though it was only the previous day she made her attempt, it had all gone so poorly and nothing like she had planned. She narrowly survived and had cheated death that day, after that vowing to never take a job to assassinate any first class adventurers.

"Yeah, getting into those big fights isn't good…" Lunoire said calmly which pulled the Cat Person out of her brief memory and back to the present fight being performed in front of the three waitresses. Haru had shown clear signs that he was getting quite tired, while the white haired boy was rather fit for his age he was not in top physical shape. The days of lazing around in the Hostess surely had not helped, though the boy already had a plan to start working out on a more regular basis.

He had assumed that possibly due to his size and body physique he had been turned away from some families that would have otherwise accepted him, so he had planned to start going for morning runs and doing various other activities to get into better health.

Haru made a move for another attack and with a quick slap from Anya's broom handle the blade in the white haired boy's hand was sent flying and landed in the ground several feet away. Haru went to try and retrieve the blade, without a weapon the chances of winning a fight against anything was vastly lower. That was one of the few things of real value that he had learned from his first trip to the dungeon, the kitchen knife from Syr had saved his life. Not the armour that he had purchased to protect him and ended up nearly getting him killed. A simple blade was all it took to give the boy a chance to live and in that moment he had taken up the blade and fought to survive, not thrive but at the very least survive.

The three waitresses cringed slightly as Haru went for the short katana and took another hard hit to the back of the head as Anya tripped the boy up slightly with her foot and spun around him to the side and whacked him once again with the improvised wooden spear. He fell forward to the ground and landed with a thud, he remained face down in the dirt for a few moments before he pushed himself up off the ground and Anya helped him to stand again. They talked for a few minutes, though it was mostly Anya trying to use her hand gestures to get her lesson across to the white haired boy.

After the beating he had taken and how out of breath he was by the end of the fight he had learned the lesson and would likely never forget Anya's teachings.

"Ryuu, you mind if I have a go? I could maybe teach him something that would help out." Lunoire said as she took a step forward to be better in the Elf's view. Anya skipped over and sat down on the table and rested her feet on the bench, she placed her elbows on her knees and rested her chin on her hands with a small smile.

"I suppose, my lesson has already been thrown so off course and it is almost time to finish anyway… so there would be no real harm I suppose." Ryuu said calmly as she shrugged slightly and placed her hands in her lap.

"Thanks." Lunoire said as she pushed herself off of the bench she was leaning against and took a few steps towards the white haired boy that was just barely standing on his feet after the beating he had received from Anya. Though compared to the pain he had experienced when he had faced the Elven waitress Anya was just slapping him around as if it were a childish squabble.
